Pulled Hamstring

I think I have pulled my hamstring by wearing flat shoes one day and heels (1.5") the next - can't think of anything else. (definitely nothing sporty). My question is what can i do to relieve the pain. I went to the chemist today and was told painkillers and go to the Walk In centre if it persists. I asked do I exercise, rest, put on heat/cold - no response. Anyone out there had something like this, I have pain from the back of my thigh (knee) to my bottom, it hurts until I get moving and goes into spasms. I am waking up thro the night with the pain. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds more like sciatica, which is also extremely painful. I suggest Dr Google for simple cures!

Sounds like Sciatica to me can be caused by a variety of things. See your GP for diagnosis and pain relief. I do gentle stretching exercise when mine starts to niggle, it can be agonising.

RICE

REST, ICE, COMPRESS AND ELEVATE.

You have my sympathy. Go to your GP and explain your symptoms exactly as you have here.; going into spasms, pain through the night. I bought a heat pad like a mini electric blanket and it also helps with the pain. Self refer to physio and get help with proper, gentle excercises. (Some counties do self referral).

Thanks everyone, I have taken 2 hourly paracetemol/ibruprofen today and feel much better - its still there but bearable although I do feel like I am living in a "fog" with the meds.

It does sound more like hamstring injury. Torn muscle fibres. It'll heal. Have you tried Voltarol gel? A warm bath might help tissues to relax a bit. Hope it eases soon.
