Losing weight

Thanks all, i have my Drs appointment on thursday, so will see what he has to say, i too feel on edge all the time and very irritable
I do wonder if its connected with low iron,
I am fed up of having to have blood tests at the hospital in case my ferritin is too high, but it has dropped yet again to 31, if it gets too low it will cause anaemia
I have been reading about someone with the same problem with low ferritin, and hair loss,but not got Haemochromatosis,so i dare not take iron supplements, but will ask Dr about them

Panache i am very sorry you are having problems with your weight dropping like it has,it must be very worrying, not knowing why,

Update seen Dr, Throid was checked in February in regular blood test, he said my ferritin is very low and that could be the reason for my problems with hair, advised to eat more meat and green veg, weight loss could just be stress from sons illness etc
I have not lost any more weightv and stuck at 8 stone, which is fairly normal for me i would still like to put on another 7lbs though as i felt more comfortable.

Seems you might be on the right track Valerie and may I suggest adding ENSURE PLUS.....a meal in a can,2 a day.........they will add those pounds you would like to add.
It is excellent news that having stuck at 8 stone there is no further loss.

I have this much dreaded operation on Tuesday 29th and perhaps this may give the medics some answers.
By taking the above Ensure drinks daily I am finding that slowly I am putting on the odd pound..........but having lost soo much I have a long road ahead.

Haven't posted on this Forum before, but thought I'll offload here....I suffer from a lung condition called Bronchiectasis- recently I wasn't feeling too good -( lots of family stress) ..but I noticed I was losing a bit of weight. Saw my Thoracic Consultant on 2nd May. Was 2 hours in Hospiral undergoing various tests, blood, X-ray, ecg, oxygen. After all this Doctor said ..we'll see you in 3 months...couple of days ago, I had a letter from the Hospital saying they want to see me on 5th June....I am panicking....I feel something has shown up on the X-ray ....sorry to offload...haven't told the family because I don't want to worry them . I will wait till the 5th. Meanwhile, writing it down here makes me feel slightly better. Thanks for reading ..

Sorry to hear about your worries crazyH. Is it possible that the x-ray wasn't satisfactory - blurred or not at the best angle? - and they just want to take another one. Or the person who sorted out the 5th June appointment wasn't told it was to be 3 months? So there could be lots of reasons to call you back. Anyway, come on here whenever you feel the need - you will always get a good response from Gransnetters. Take care x

Whilst crazy H,welcome and let me hasten to say, I am in total agreement with DanniRae`s advice,be assured there can be a dozen instances where the Hospital staff has got their dates mixed up.There will be many people handling your appointment after the date was announced by your thoracic Consultant.............and in passing this along down the line, all manner of changes and mistakes often occur.
They should not of course,but it happens and I think most people here could also say they have had confusion from their hospitals.
So I would certainly advize in not getting over alarmed,most likely its a case of nothing............and by worrying yourself you are truly setting yourself up for perhaps other problems.
Sincerely hoping you find that we were right to try help you.
Writing and talking over your difficulties is indeed very cathartic.

Thanks Dannirae and Panache....perhaps I'm worrying unnecessarily. This is a great site, with great listeners and great advice. I have been on the Relationships Forum and everyone so sweet. Firm when they have to be, but fair. I live on my own .....so things can look worse than they are . Thanks again. Will let you know what happens xx
