I've recently lost a stone very, very slowy by adopting new habits. Diets don't work, habits which are sustainable are the way to go.
There's a couple on FB called the Willets who are very sensible and I also read a book called "fat loss habits". For me , losing a stone was hard as I am only 5 foot 2" and only had a stone to lose. that gives me about 1200 calories a day if I want to be in a deficit .
So I learned to prioritise very healthy food. Once I was in the right mindset, it never felt like a diet and it really does feel sustainable because I'm doing good things for my body.
I got a fit bit to track calories and steps and see how many calories I had to play with to lose weight. I lost about 1lb a month a couple of times, but that's fine.
Also I've leaned to do easy cardio like uphill walking, cyclin and swimming and use weights with you tube classes to maintain muscle mass.
It eventually boils down to simple equations.
I know all about "food noise" but unless I was morbidly obese, I wouldn't use them.
Like a lot of ladies, I've struggled, starved, over exercised and lost weight but no one can maintain that.
Since I've changed my mindset and my food choices, I don't get my brian searching for a dopamine rush. Hence the food noise quitens down.
I never really got my head round why I had put a stone on in the first place until I started to understand basic equations.
So six months steady progress which is sustainable and I don't ever feel I'm on a "diet."
This is not a brag, I admit it sounds like one, but when light bulbs finally got switched on at age 67, it made the weight loss very easy (but at times frustratingly slow!)
Good luck everyone - stop dieting and start deciding to fuel your body with good food.
