Thanks everyone. I need to give this some thought as to having healthy basics in just in case I don't feel like going out especially in bad weather, and readjusting my buying and cooking methods.
Yes a plan is needed, and a list of basic store cupboard and freezer essentials.

Perhaps you could do a combination of the M and S food and some home made. Its dispiriting to be making and throwing away food. Could you make a rough meal plan?

I occasionally order food from the above - they’re not cheap, but they sometimes have offers on (3 meals for 1 for £10 at the moment). They have shops too, but we don’t live near one. Discovered them a few years ago, after having a hip op and couldn’t face Mr P’s “cooking” wink

I think you should eat whatever you fancy, and get it in the easiest way possible, especially after having had cancer to contend with. flowers

We are lucky enough to live 2 minutes walk from a large supermarket and pop in almost daily and buy what we fancy to eat that day. It saves us money and waste.
Any surplus Bolognese etc. goes in the freezer in individual portions.

I live alone also and have a fairly small appetite, so find shopping isn't too much of a chore. I never buy online as I think that would lead to waste both of food and money.

I keep a good stock of basics in the house for days I can't (or don't want to) go out. I buy what I fancy when I fancy it. Mostly use M&S for fruit and veg as I find it keeps better than other supermarket stuff. Any meat also comes from M&S as I trust it to be good quality and have never been disappointed. Also use local market for fresh eggs and the occasional treat of expensive jam.

In my early 60s and live alone. I've always been health concious and watched my weight.I don't drive so for years have been ordering lots of healthy veg and food online for delivery every couple of weeks, and topping that up with stuff I can carry from local shops.
The problem I am finding now is that I have a fridge full of veg, a freezer with low fat meat yet I don't fancy any of it. Ì cook large pots of soup, Bolognese etc, and throw most of it away, and lots of veg go in the bin.
I know my taste buds have changed since chemotherapy, but I also know a lot of friends who buy from M & S food as and when needed, and wonder if this is what I should be doing now.
Do others find that buying food in advance is no longer a good idea ?
