I am just getting over a chesty, coughy, virus thing and feel loads better each day this week, but the cough starts late evening and persists during the night, keeping me awake and I need my sleep. I just wondered if any of you lovely peeps might have some remedies I could try, thanks in ant...

Just looked at the link, its cocoa that has the magic properties. The artical advises taking one of the new products containing cocoa. I understand dairy increases mucus formation so a bar of choc may have the opposite result - big shame :-)

Whoop, whoop, got some sleep last night, feel so much better and have a lovely relaxing day today. It was quite a performance for bedtime, vicks on feet and socks on (couldn’t do vicks on chest due to radiotherapy affected skin oooooooo, even the thought!), a codeine tablet (left over from recent surgery), dose of cough medicine, aromatase inhibitor tablet, E45 to mastectomy scars and zzzzzzzzzzing with just several short bursts of the damn cough, but back to sleep each time (lucky to have woke up after all that I know), feel soooooo much better, onwards and upwards, thanks again for all the tips x

I'm trying to convince myself 'it's only a cold'. However the runny nose and occasional sneezes are now accompanied by a deep, hollow, unproductive cough. At times it's in uncontrollable hiccuping spasms. Any advice?

Covonia and increased pillow height.

I tend to slip down if I am propped up with pillows. Try raising the head of your mattress instead. Hope you feel better soon,

I find the Benylin dry coughs night time mixture very useful if a cough keeps me awake. It really knocks me out so regardless of what sort of cough I have I take some very last thing at night and it usually gives me a decent night's sleep. I do not take anymore if I do wake as I find it quite potent.

I had a cough for months last year and found propping up my pillows and using a v shaped pillow at the same time helped. I kept some jakemans honey and lemon sweeets and sucked on them surprisingly this worked. When all else failed I resorted to an anthihistamine.
