Anyone else got the lurgy?

Just out of the steamy bathroom trying to breathe. Head banging like a drum and I have to drive back from Scotland homewards in a few hours. Hoping for a better night. Last night was spent resting my head on the window bottom in the cold trying to get the mucosa to shrink.

CH in the bath coughing in Olympic proportions. Minor inconvenience knowing what a lot of gransnetters' are suffering with but I (rather selfishly) do not want my MRI cancelled again this week.

Oh yes! Just recovering but managed to do Christmas between coughing and sneezing. Feel fine now,10 days on but still coughing occasionally. Sudafed worked well but gave me a dry mouth. Hope you feel better soon

Lurgy, now that's a word I've not heard for a long time. When I was growing up as a (barrack brat) we used it to cover most illnesses.
Hope you are feeling better soon Izabella .

I have the most awful streaming cold,or I did have until I bought some Day and Night Nurse capsules from the chemist.By the second dose my symptoms had disappeared...it was magic! I didn't take any this morning and lo and behold I'm streaming again. That'll teach me ,back to the pills.

My DS has had an awful cold the entire time we have been staying with him. He has been sneezing forEngland. We have shielded our noses and kept down wind of him. If we get away without catching it I think it will be a miracle.

Me too , my nose started to run yesterday and quickly turned into a blocked nose with sore facial bones and puffy eyes . I'm going to snotter my way to the shop to get some of your magical Night Nurse, Paddyann !

Another lurgy lurker here. Have had the monster sneeze/sore throat thing for weeks, then on Christmas Day it was accompanied by d&v. The 'Festive Season' for me was spent sitting on the toilet, holding a bowl and sneezing. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Me! In bed with iPad and radio 4.
Not used to being ill.

Hope you feel better soon, I had it the week before Christmas, still coughing and sneezing, just not so bad. It’s one hell of a cold.

No lurky yet but was worried about catching it a few weeks back when I had to have a MRI scan. Unfortunately you would have to cancel it if coughing or with a streaming cold..confused

Lurgy here also... horrendous productive cough, throat feels like shard glass in it,temp up and down.. homemade lemon juice, honey& cinnamon..one paracetamol at night time...

I started with it on Christmas Day and felt dreadful. I have coughed so much that my insides are sore. We have family coming at New Year who I haven't seen for a couple of years so I really hope It's gone by then.

(I haven't got it yet... I think I should leave this thread, it might be infectious!)

So sorry for all you folks; I understand that "there's a lot of it about"....

mande Sat 29-Dec-18 10:52:34

Get well soon!

>>>>>>>>getting over it after waking with a thick sore throat yesterday morning, sneezing for England legs like jelly. A spoonful of honey, more in the porridge and 2 paracetamols every 4 hours and a tot of dark rum.

More or less gone today thank goodness. I think if the weather had been bitter like last year the head cold would have lingered.

Head completely stuffed but runny nose. Christmas dinner tasted like cardboard and I was so looking forward to it!! Now a week later my taste is coming back so I’m looking forward to my steak pie dinner on New Year’s Day. Hate having a cold

Sympathy to fellow sufferers. It’s going through the adults gathered on the farm for Xmas. Luckily the four under elevens seem to be surviving - maybe because the are getting doses of fresh air running round the farm after the dogs!
I’ve retreated to bed with paracetamol hoping I’!l feel better later! The family keep me supplied with cups of tea - so mustn’t grumble! - and 8year old granddaughter just popped in to see if I was ok - bless her!

Blinko Sat 29-Dec-18 11:07:37

We had it the weekend before and thought we'd have to cancel Christmas plans. Fortunately, aided by Night Nurse and Sudafed we were able to go to the ball, Cinderella.

Still have catarrh which I seem to hang on to for weeks....

Barmeyoldbat Sat 29-Dec-18 11:09:20

Oh dear, hope you all feel better soon.

Nannytopsy Sat 29-Dec-18 11:25:31

Yup we have it too! Head cold and a fearsome cough. I find Beechams caplets easier to swallow than those huge capsules, with liquid night nurse. Hope everyone feels better soon xx

Grandma59 Sat 29-Dec-18 11:31:35

Both me and OH got the ‘lurgy’. I have lost my voice (OH cheering ?). Getting through boxes of tissues. Hope everyone, and me, feels better soon x

boheminan Sat 29-Dec-18 11:32:37

[tchmm] Has anyone else had the d&v lurgy at the same time?
