My neck does not like the back wash basins in the hairdressers, so I always ask for just one quick wash, no massage and leave in conditioner. Just one of the delights of getting older.

I've noticed the stiffness in my neck this past couple of years. When I turn my head from one side to the other it sounds like maracas so I'm doing exercises to get my chin resting on my shoulders so that I don't seize up altogether.

Not necessarily. DH suffered from this for about 10 years before his trapped nerve. The consultant was quite clear. His vertebrae were crumbling from wear and tear. No mention of arthritis.

And as I said, the problem was solved with steroid injections.If they hadn't worked he was told he would need surgery.

I agree it is your introduction to osteoarthritis.

It's called Crepitus PaintG1 and is often a sign of Arthritis.

For DH it was the first sign that the top vertibrae of his spine were starting to wear out. He ended up with an excruciatingly painful trapped nerve in his arm.

He had several steroid injections in his shoulder and has been as right as rain for the last 5 years.
