Exactly.
husband enmeshed with his mother
Husband wants us to go to live in Portugal
mine have! some people have lovely feet, mine wern't too bad, but this last 3/4 years they are not good, corns (after wearing some Clarks £68 shoes)
Nails not very nice, dry skin, at the mo I am soaking them in salt water, I also have some of those bootie sock things that moisturise them, so I will be doing that afterwards.
As its coming summer (well eventually) would love to get them in tip top condition. (Can't afford a chiropodist) so its d.i.y I'm afraid.
Any hints and tips most welcome.
Exactly.
BTW...some men have fetishes, feet being one.
Sorry GabbyG wrong part of the Home Counties.
(Cant think why I thought it was Haslemere.
)
I don't find it odd that he has asked to 'have a go' at painting my nails. He's 38 and I know his wife. He does her toe nails too
Eurgh! A 38 year old postman painting a 75 year old woman’s toenails?
I find it very weird, a bit too Dorian/Birds of a Feather if you know what I mean.
Some people make a career out of sly (or not so sly) digs.
I said they were ok, not perfect and because I like wearing sexy shoes (mostly in summer) then having decent feet which are on show, is IMO, a must.
If you think differently then you're entitled continue that way.
It's not necessarily down to genes.
My mum had varicose veins in her 40s and had them 'stripped'.
Thankfully, I haven't got bad veins but then maybe I'm not as attractive as you and don't have your many good qualities.
We can't have it all.
I make the most of what I have and don't set myself beside other people to compare.
Being healthy and contented with my life are what matter to me.
then - not hen!
:Hmm...mine are ok.
Of course they are - would we expect anything less?
decent feet are a must.
There's your excellent genes again hen!
He missed his vocation, then, should have been a beautician or worked in a nail bar instead of slogging round in all weathers delivering post.

Haha....I've no idea about what posties in Haslemere do as I live in Godalming.
My postie sometimes calls in on his way home after finishing work. We have tea and a natter.

I can’t stand seeing women in open sandals with thick crusty dry skin on their heels.
All it takes is a foot file and regular moisturising after bathing.
It’s pure laziness. Very unsightly.
My poor postman would have a fit if he saw me in bare feet. He's only ever seen me in wellies or Crocs.
Dry, flaky skin? Soak in Listerine 50/50 with hot water. Sounds mad, but it work - and your feet smell nice too.
As I walk around barefoot indoors all year round I like to have decent looking feet in case the postman calls for a cuppa after his round.
He has, on occasion, had a go at painting my nails but his choice of colour was silver whereas I prefer Berry Red by Leighton Denny
Really?
Is that a normal part of the service the Post Office provides in Haslemere?
Hmm...mine are ok.
I do pamper them every week with foot masques from Superdrug, like thin boots which moisturise and you wear for 20 mins.
Before that, I clip the nails and use my battery foot scrub then soak feet in warm water with Epsom salts.

I think that looking after your whole body is important and I do like sexy shoes so decent feet are a must.
71 year old feet have no corns, I can still cut toe-nails, none are discoloured so feet are in pretty good shape but bunion joint on right foot a bit uncomfortable at times - my longer foot.
Plantar fasciitis in my left foot began in May, it was excruciating in June/July and then with exercises and rest started to settle down but is still a bit of a problem, it stiffens up when I'm sitting but soon eases up and at the moment is not stopping me walking etc.
Oh dear, Pamela, I really wouldn't want to get my feet out in a beauty salon. It might scar the poor staff for life! A podiatrist now, I would expect to have seen some horrible things in his/her time. I might just get an appointment, see what they can do for me.
I must look out for moisturising socks. Needed desperately.
Flexitol heal balm is wonderful stuff. Put it in your feet and then out sox on, go to bed
It works a treat
I can't say I've ever had any trouble with my feet they've always worked fine---------it's the rest of me that needs a good overhaul as it doesn't usually want to go where my feet go.
This brings to mind the Pam Ayres poem
"I wish I'd looked after me teeth"
In this case "I wish I'd looked after me feet"
(I did but it made no difference)
I'm very lucky to have few problems with my feet and I've done the stiletto bit in my day. Still wear a heel but much more sedate now. However, I do so agree with MB that, if the feet have problems, that is transmitted to the rest of the body in an adverse way. I would most certainly prioritise any necessary treatment ahead of other outlays. Good tip of approaching age uk for services that might exist in one's area. Thank you.
I used to be rather proud of my feet. Having spent a lot of my 20s in sandals and flip-flops, they didn't have to suffer the era of winkle-pickers. However, through no fault of my own, I have acquired a bunion. It's not very big yet and I hope it's going to stay that way.
Luckygirl Hear hear!!
I was shopping yesterday (something I do infrequently these days, apart from food shopping) and my feet are stinging today.
Why not, as one poster does go to a beauty salon?
For those of you that don’t ‘need’ a podiatrist to deal with corns of other more medical problems.
A pedicure usually takes about an hour and involves soaking the feet, dealing with hard skin, sorting our the cuticles, cutting the nails, a foot scrub and a massage before polish.
Much better value than a podiatrist! You would also, probably get a coffee.
NB as I have already mentioned Beauty therapists can’t deal with the more medical concerns.
I am not bothered about what mine look like (not a great joy to behold) but about the fact that they hurt like hell - one still has a broken bone, so that is a given, but the other one hurts too. I was on my feet all day yesterday rehearsing and singing in a concert and I could barely waddle when I walked to the car park. Ouch and blooming ouch!
I really like my feet, they are one of my best features, but do get some hard skin underneath the left one, so after a shower I regularly use a scrapper and them moisturise. I've never really worn high heels so maybe that's the reason my feet are still decent at 66 years.
I’ve always followed my old grans advice ...buy a good bed and better shoes....as your either in one or the other. I walk about 20/25 miles per week and am v. fussy about my feet. Trim nails every two weeks and moisturise every night ...otherwise they seem ok. Never ache or no corns or bunions! Think I may have been lucky, when they dished our feet.
