DH, on the other hand, has lovely feet.
I did not mean that to be punny.

Mine are terrible and always have been, despite having 'proper shoes and sandals' when I was a child. It's genetic.

DH, on the other hand, has lovely feet.

I have arthritis in my feet and ankles and can't walk barefoot on a hard floor without pain but it doesn't show to look at them.
Pain from two ingrown toenails was dealt with for free when GP referred me to chiropodist on NHS..

I also, as mentioned by pp, had difficulty with nail clippers. Then I found a dual set for fingernails and toenails on Amazon. They were quite expensive, relatively speaking, but worth every penny. Very strong. Cut toenails with ease.

Flexible Friend I am similar, for similar reasons.

I am also fortunate to have good health, because I know many foot conditions arise not from how you treat your feet, but by other health problems in other parts of the body.

I have quite nice feet, same as they were when I was a teenager. I've never squeezed my feet into shoes that didn't fit or pinched.

I wouldn’t have thought arthritic feet can be caused by wearing tight/ high footwear are they but as for other foot problems? Can those of you with problematic feet blame the type of footwear worn over the years? Only asking as till I read this I didn’t realise how lucky I am with my feet. I have always preferred flat, probably clumpy shoes, hate wearing ?, if I had the guts I would love a pair of flowery Doc Martens.

I try my best.
Have a pedicure and nail polish.
Use Zerocream daily to keep feet moisturised. Also use underneath feet, this seems to help re hard skin.

Unfortunately bone beside the big toes now stick out have been told not bunions.

My biggest problem is swollen ankles all year round but much worse in summer.
Since having surgery my right ankle is now continually swollen.

I envy anyone with what my Mum called 'Neat ankles'

Oh Lord, feet ! My left foot is a peuce colour ( broken veins/circulation ) and the right one is catching up. I should get some purple summer sandals then nobody will notice.
Then there's the toenails ! No matter how long I soak my feet my nails remain tough----no use using scissors and I've broken 2 or 3 nail clippers. I use an emery board to keep them low otherwise they poke out of my tights.

I don't have any corns bunions or calluses though so I suppose that's a bonus.Just purple feet. I blame the warfarin going straight to my feet ! A farrier is what I need.

I have trotters! There's really not a single thing that's even adequate about them. My mother has lovely feet. How unfair is that

Mine are ok, I do take time to moisturise them and deal with any hard skin. I wear flip flops a lot in the Summer I think feet need to breathe. It’s getting harder and harder to twist enough to hold and trim my nails though due to Arthritis.

I do find that when you have walked on the beach and had a paddle in the sea (not at this time of the year of course) that your feet feel much better.

kittylester Sat 23-Mar-19 19:51:52

I have the most appalling veins as well as a couple of hammer toes. I have a pedicure regularly just to make me feel better.

KatyK Sat 23-Mar-19 19:51:16

My DH says it's because 'you've always worn silly shoes'. I think he means fashionable.

cornergran Sat 23-Mar-19 19:50:57

Mine are the same. One of the ‘benefits’ of living a long (ish) life I fear. I’ve one friend with perfect feet. Envious, me???

Farmor15 Sat 23-Mar-19 19:49:05

Mine are actually still OK. Put it down to my mother making me wear horrible “clodhoppers” till I was about 15!

Chewbacca Sat 23-Mar-19 19:47:23

My feet are so ugly that I don't wear open sandals in summer any more. I have arthritic bone spurs on the tops of a couple of my toes and they make unsightly lumps and bumps in my shoes and boots. Nice slim, elegant looking court shoes or boots are ruined. Nothing I can do about them apparently though.

bikergran Sat 23-Mar-19 19:42:51

Hmm wonder what it is? do we neglect our feet do you think cos they are at the bottom of our bodies.

The chiropodist I did have who unfortunately is no longer here, used to get the Dremel out! for me , it did used to worry me when she had been out the night before! and there she was ! scalpel in hand ready to sort my corns confused

nonnasusie Sat 23-Mar-19 19:36:08

Same here KatyK.

KatyK Sat 23-Mar-19 19:35:00

Mine are awful. Bunions, nails that are too hard to cut, dry skin. This is painting an attractive picture!

bikergran Sat 23-Mar-19 19:31:54

mine have! some people have lovely feet, mine wern't too bad, but this last 3/4 years they are not good, corns (after wearing some Clarks £68 shoes) confused

Nails not very nice, dry skin, at the mo I am soaking them in salt water, I also have some of those bootie sock things that moisturise them, so I will be doing that afterwards.

As its coming summer (well eventually) would love to get them in tip top condition. (Can't afford a chiropodist) so its d.i.y I'm afraid.

Any hints and tips most welcome.
