I have B12 injections every 10 weeks, wished it was every 8. if you need b12 then have the injections, there is no supplement if you have pernicious anaemia as you will not be able to absorb through your stomach. I have tried everything over the years. I will say that when I was first diagnosed, over 30 years ago now, my mum and dad said why don't you take Phyllosan, "fortifies the over 40s" well I did and boy what a difference, but and here's the thing they stopped making them!! They made me feel on top of the world even though they had B12 in them I still had to have the injections as you can't be cured from the illness. Bring back Phyllosan is what I say.

Interesting Miep1 DD read on Google that B12 cannot be given more frequently than every 12wks.
Hopefully DH will be offered 8 weekly jabs. He's not himself when he is due.

I did have B12 injections every 3 months, then was tested again and now have them every 8 weeks. I can tell when they're due, I flag alarmingly! Mine is a non absorption problem too

DH has GP appointment next week to see if there is anything else they can do for him as his 3 monthly jabs are not enough. He is grumpy, can't sleep etc for 3-4 wks before next jab is due.
He did try multi-vit with iron but didn't like the inevitable side effects. So I think he's stuffed !

Blacktabby2 my late mother had the B12 injections and they really made a difference to her energy levels so please don't let the thought of regular injections put you off!
With Mum we could always tell when her next was due - as her GP said - a car can't run without petrol (suppose it can nowadays but that's for another thread!) so just look at it as topping up your fuel!

I have b12 deficiency due to being vegetarian...I think 3monthly isn't enough...by eight weeks I'm flagging and then have to take a b12 tablet every day....

DH and I have both been having the B12 injections for 3 or 4 years now. We were both tested after first one and then both our DDs were found to be short of Vit B12 as it can be a hereditary thing. The problem is not a lack of B12 in the diet but rather non absorption of the vitamin by the stomach. Hence the injection to put it direct into the bloodstream. 2 of us always note that we feel better after our quarterly injection and 1 reports no difference but has it anyway.

I have a few friends in the same boat as you, they are having the b12 injection. They would rather not but since they have been having them they realise how much better they feel after it. I can only tell you how they feel about it. You may just need a top up I really don't know. Wishing you luck and hope it sorts itself.

My gp says l am low in b12 and folic acid. He told me to take a supplement. Another blood test still states my levels are dropping. I really don't want these 3 monthly injections for life! Does anyone else have any views on this? I am 58 yrs old .Thankyou. X
