doodle i dont know if this helps but...my son is also autistic. He is now 27. He shares a house with a female friend. he has the most amazing job in central London. He found a fantastic friend at high school who accepted him for who he was. He went on to college and the young adults there were fantastic. they taught my son how to look for the correct train, how to be himself and I,m so proud of the man he has become xxx

Oh nanny how kind of you to post this. I do have hopes for my DGS. I am hoping that as he grows, older children and adults will be more kind to him. He has a fantastic mum and dad but I worry for their stress levels. So glad your son is doing well.

Ah, I would have found that if I had gone all the way back doodle. I have been on from the beginning but memory is not great.

We have an 8 year old Autistic in the family and he goes to various specialist organisations. Is there anything like that near him? Has he been statemented? I don't really know what is involved but a friend's son got extra help once that was done although I do know she had to fight for it.

nonnie don’t worry I don’t mention it much. annie is aware as it was on another thread. Yes he has got his statement and does have help. He has come on in leaps and bounds but the friends issue and the bullying continue to cause set backs. Thank you for your thoughts.

Felt sick and nauseous most of the day. Anxiety is the cause I know. Just can’t talk myself out of it yet. I will work it through somehow. I usually do. It’s just tough at the beginning. Glad you are feeling a bit bette joce

Aww Doodle I felt sick most of the day it’s just such a horrible feeling. I can’t eat, have all on to drink but my daughters as been hear and she’s very good with me.
I can’t stand bed time I just to come in the morning errrr ..

I think you will find I have been a contributor at times too.
I was just explaining that a phrase in common usage originated as something much less serious.

I didn't have a great childhood but one of the things my mother told me has stuck in my mind. I was in severe pain and she told me that we are never given more than we can cope with and that we would lose consciousness if it got too bad. I try to keep that in mind with mental health issues too, it seems to help me.

A rather more frivolous thought, when you get what you want it can be a mixed blessing. I haven't had long finger nails for many years but I have now. My typing has gone to pot, keep hitting the wrong keys!!

only one more sleep until i collect coco [grin grin]. also i think i,m going to hire a private investigator to find tank. I have spent a few nights in another bedroom recently {sleeping with my other cat} and i have discovered that the only thing that happens at 5.30 am is a cleaner in our village hall. Coupled with the fact that it was dark when he was out i,m beginning to think the cleaner stole him

Doodle I have only just read your post re your lovely grandson.
I completely understand the overwhelming anxiety that engulfs you.

I would also like to join others in praying for your Grandson's happiness.

Happiness is what I wish for all my children and grandchildren

I pray for each of my three little grandsons and their parents.

Each DGS has either a health or an autism challenge that they will have negotiate throughout their life.

I pray that their parents will be able to meet the challenges and have the strength to fight the many battles on their children's behalf.

The Victorians, his voice is so relaxing, and my younger dog
Rosie lies quietly next to the iPad, so sweet

joce thank you so much for reminding me about Marty Rossman. I have watched a video of his before but I forgot all about it . Have just watched “how your brain can turn anxiety into calmness”. The first part about worry has been exactly what I have been like all day today. Constantly niggling at my mind over and over all day. I found this video really helpful. I recognised so much of myself in this one. I realised that I do a lot of sort of negative preventative praying - don’t let this happen, don’t let that happen instead of more positive prayers of hope.

Good morning my lovely friends. Well...all went well with coco. she bit me multiple times last night but today she hasnt bitten me so i,d call that progress! shes a lovely little thing and shes very feisty and i love that. Shes met my other cat it didnt go too badly and she met the dogs in a controlled manner for about 2 mins.so far so good i think shes going to fit in just fine xxxx
