Decided to take on the council - again! Their letter stating they would consider my request for a handrail in 10 weeks.

I emailed this morning, asked why my physiotherapist who recommended I have the handrail, who is employed by the NHS and gives free time to work with the local MIND charity was ignored and I have to wait 10 weeks for a council employed occupational therapist to assess my needs.

I can only assume because my health problems are both physical and mental my need for a handrail is being dismissed as not essential to my recovery. This is not unusual if mental health problems are involved.

The occupational therapist is visiting me this Thursday !

I have two cats...neither likes to be picked up....have always loved and cared for them....and they are still nasty to me!

Finally something positive to say. I have just re-seeded the patches on the lawn. I always cover the seed with top soil to stop the birds eating it and used some from B & Q and some DH had bought at Morrisons. The M one is so much easier to spread we plan to go there later today and fill the boot if they still have it because DS has a major job to do on his lawn.

Now planning to do the ironing! Definitely a better day. Hope some of you are the same.

aww nonnie i am sorry for your loss. I am definitely a cat person I love their fiesty nature and they aloofness but they give the best cuddles and kisses

nanny not sure if this helps with your decision. I had miscarriages but it didn't stop me loving the children who survived. My son is dead and the others don't replace him. Love is infinite so if you are a cat person give your love to one which needs it.

I agree, mouse is feral, my younger daughter has four cats and a feral who stays in the garden, comes to the boot room
for food but will not be touched.

good morning all i am off to Coventry later to meet my daughter and then off to watch the spice girls. should be fun. annie saw mouse last night bless him...however i made a huge mistake...i grabbed him. He went crazy bit me multiple times and shot off! that will teach me but it confirms my thoughts that he is feral. But also a beauty visited me a black and white one so so friendly but starving ate 3.5 bowls of food!! It is either lost or abandoned as it loved strokes and cuddles but is very dirty and scabby. I hope you all have a wonderful day xxx

nanny I have over many years had 15 dogs, loved them all,
have rather a lot of urns of ashes in my bungalow, they have all been in my life the good and sad times. Not one replaced the ones who had died.

Only you can decide about another cat , it will never replace
Tank, it will have it’s own personality, I believe our pets choose us even though we think we choose them.

If you decide to see the cats, you may be upset and decide no, you may see one who will touch your heart x

Ah I understand annie, hence the annoyance at the council taking so long to check with their OT about the hand rail. Wish all your GN friends could gang up on the council and put a rocket up them (in the nicest possible way of course). Just hope they get round to it quicker that expected.

hello. Went for a walk it was an epic walk and toward the end i could have cried from pain in feet (arthritis) but the dogs loved it ive had peace all afternoon ha ha. annie no mouse hasnt been. I put some biscuits down 3 days ago and they didnt get gobbled up so either he hasnt been or he belongs to someone and just wants my whiskas food?? I am toying with getting another cat..but do I. its because i am missing Tank...babycakes real name, is it the right thing to do. I have a choice of 3. Mabel who is about a year and in rescue, Carrie who is about 18 months in rescue and Tina who is at least 5 and a friend of a friend needs her re-homed. But am i doing it because i am sad? what does everyone think

Stigma around here is still alive and kicking. Before I moved back, a first cousin died alone, relatives hadn’t visited him in well over 10 years.

He was a gentle friendly man who had type I and a serious mh diagnosis.
One relative, a first cousin, lived 150 yards from his house.

Shameful. But keeping away is how it’s done here.

Salsa I understand feeling how lucky you are, I am too but it doesn't have any effect on the depression.

I have been trying to post positives every day but haven't been able to think of any new ones the last few days. Really hoping I can go for a walk tomorrow or do the ironing.

Doodle right outside my front door is the wall of my living room to my right which extends half way down the front path,to my left is waste ground, no one could see me there. And no one walks by because I am on the end and public path ends by my front path,

When I have the handrail fitted I can go past the wall and see the open centre of the Cul de sac.

annie sorry your front garden plans seem to have gone awry. Not sure what the weather is like where you are. It’s warm and muggy here. Is your front door at the front of your house? Is it possible for you to sit in the doorway for a while and just get the feel of being outside without actually venturing too far. Someone might walk by or perhaps you could hear some birds in the trees. ?
