Morning, everyone.
This is just a quick post as a sequel to my OP of I need help!

Last night I went to a local AA meeting. Everyone was so welcoming, that my nerves soon disappeared and I felt like I was with friends.
The man in charge told me to just listen to stories, not to compare but to see if I could identify. I learned so much in those 90 minutes.
1) I don't have to drink. Just because it's Friday, Saturday, Wimbledon's on or whatever, I don't have to drink.
2) I have a problem with alcohol because the first is never enough. I have to carry on. It doesn't relax me or make me happy. In fact, it does the opposite. Talk about a Lightbulb moment. It's not my friend, and it never was.
3) Not only is it an illness, but it's a progressive one - it will only get worse, not better.

I did learn so much more, but wanted to keep this relatively short. I am aware that the road ahead may be challenging at times, but thanks to you and your encouraging, honest and non judgmental posts, I am feeling optimistic.
I will take one day at a time. For today I will not drink.
I will get back to you all in a few weeks.
Thanks again - you are all amazing x

Be very proud of yourself just for going to that first meeting. Be very proud of yourself just for making that decision.
Be very proud of yourself just for your bravery.
Be very proud of yourself just for one day at a time... ?????
I watched my daughter go through this process, my very brave beautiful daughter who I am so very proud of x
