Ah, that explains a lot.

The photos with newspaper articles are misleading as they show other children with genetic condition. The babies affected just had fine hair all over which fell out when they stopped taking. Mistake was in a pharmacy and nothing to do with the Omeprazole capsules for adults.

I can't link from phone but you can Google it.

MissAdventure Wed 28-Aug-19 23:09:23

Oh yes!
I just googled, and it is on all the news websites.

No, they were not born with that syndrome they are children who were 'prescribed' medication which was contaminated with Regaine, the hair growth supplement.
I'll try to link the original article.

MissAdventure Wed 28-Aug-19 22:51:00

Surely you would have to be born with that syndrome?

Not that I'm a medical expert, as I'm sure is obvious.

Gonegirl Wed 28-Aug-19 22:42:48

Can you give a link to the article?

Gonegirl Wed 28-Aug-19 22:42:06

It's a dreadful thing to have happened, but it has nothing to do with the drug Omeprazole itself has it? The thread title is misleading.

I read this today Gabriella just as I was researching some of DH’s medication, from which he is having some nasty side effects.

Poor, poor children . I don’t know what else to say really except ask how far they had been tested ?

This is what happened to children who took contaminated medication manufactured by a Spanish pharma company in Malaga.
You never really know what's in your tablets as the 'active' ingredient is bulked out by other ingredients that have no real value, not even as a carrier for the active substance.
