I’m going to have a nose job that I don’t really want.

So I’m getting prepared,

Early this year I noticed a white patch on the tip of my nose.
I have already had a BCC so I was off to the Dr like a shot.
- Just sun damage- nothing to worry about.

Well I was worried so I booked and paid for a consultation at Spire. Got the top woman, lucky me. She spent all of 30 seconds having a look then wrote Solar Elastosis on a piece of paper and almost told me to go away and stop wasting time.

Last night I went for a 3rd opinion. Had to pay again. Lucky I’m still working.
Lovely consultant this time. He seems totally convinced that it is a BCC and will have to be removed.
Now I’m waiting for a date for the biopsy.

My message to you all is keep going back till they agree with you?

Gonegirl Thu 31-Oct-19 16:28:45

Not that they will do anything about it unless others report it too. They ignore me.

*As for me being irritated to death.
I'm not under a death sentence*
Spoken with vinegar.

Hmmm... GG54 tries later to explain/soften her comments.
A little backtracking methinks.

Gonegirl Thu 31-Oct-19 16:44:57

No excuse for saying that to someone with a dodgy patch on her face. Just cruel.

PamelaJ1 Thu 31-Oct-19 17:00:51

Thank you to all of you for your support. Well most of you anyway!
Luckily my little problem isn’t life threatening and I’m made of stern stuff when it comes to my skin.
I’ve looked at a few utube videos and seen the worst scenario.
This is not a negative thing, I am an optimist so I look at the worst and then expect the best! Even the worst scenario seems to have a good outcome.

Gone girl, if they ignore you don’t worry. The comments haven’t bothered me because most posters have been kind and many have experienced similar situations. Maybe it’s good to leave them there?

Just a note to say that I'm off here. No more posts from me.
No, I haven't been suspended or banned, I'm just sick if snowflakes and injured parties.
You can't say anything without someone getting in a snit and assuming you meant what they want to think you mean. They like to cause trouble and I'm not into at those games.
Too much of , 'you can't say that', cliques...blah blah...like a schoolyard.
If you have no problems, health, financial, familial or relationships and want to share ordinary everyday stuff, GN isn't for those people as you get told you're smug or showing off but if you have problems...come in.
Best wishes to Gillybob, Marydoll, dragonfly46, Urmstongran
I'm out for good. Phew!!

Urmstongran Thu 31-Oct-19 17:37:53

I shall miss your posts Gabriella
I have sent you a p.m.

4allweknow Thu 31-Oct-19 17:46:17

Why would you want an answer that was positive. Surely a negative would be best. Great you had funds to pursue until you got what you wanted. Hope all goes well and that the 3rd professional isn't just being extra careful.

My husband almost died, told a pain was muscle sprain as he had just come out of hospital. He then pointed out he was on blood thinning drug but was told they put everyone on it. I was with with Mr B while he was seeing the Dr and I told him in no uncertain terms he was talking a load of crap and I was taking him to A&E. Turned out he had 2 blood clots on in the lung. I rest my case. Just keep going I say.

allsortsofbags Thu 31-Oct-19 18:34:10

Really glad you followed your instincts OP.

Much better to be a pain in the ears, anagram of a***, than risk any type of cancer.

Wishing you the very best of outcomes.

Sparklefizz Thu 31-Oct-19 19:47:53

The trouble is with any typed or written word, no one knows the tone of voice and messages can be easily misinterpreted, not just on here.

Gabriella has explained what she meant. There are plenty of other plain speakers on GN. I notice the same ones pop up on various threads, and leap in to condemn/argue.

Gabriella, I will be sorry if you leave.

Sparklefizz Thu 31-Oct-19 19:51:16

Pamela I wish you all the very best. You have done the right thing to fight your corner. Sending you flowers

PamelaJ1 Thu 31-Oct-19 20:02:14

4allweknow. I didn’t want an answer that was positive, I wanted one that I felt was correct from an expert that seemed to be bothered.

grannyqueenie Thu 31-Oct-19 22:13:39

And this exactly what all sensible and sympathetic folk wish for you Pamela. You’ll be more than delighted to have a clear diagnosis from someone you trust. You’re right to stick to your guns until you feel confident it’s been throughly investigated. Please come back and let us know how it all goes. flowers

Bye bye Gabriella, I shall miss reading your nasty comments, I used to look for you just to see what was coming out of your mouth next.

Amagran Thu 31-Oct-19 23:36:01

I don't always agree with GabriellaG54 and her outspoken comments, however, her comments are generally sincere and honest. If people could only resist the knee-jerk response of condemning her, they might appreciate that controversial opinions can sometimes open up a valuable debate. I believe that there are some who would condemn GG54 if she expressed the view that night follows day.

I read many opinions on these forums which I disagree strongly with, but I would always respect posters' rights to hold and express such views. Personal attacks on posters for the views they express are IMO intolerable. Attack the opinion, not the person.

Good luck with your nose job, best to pay for a nice result

Purpledaffodil Fri 01-Nov-19 05:01:09

Good for you PamelaJI. My mother was told “It’s nothing sinister” and given a dermatology appt for several months time. She believed her GP. Two years later despite surgery she died of Malignant Melanoma which had seeded tumours throughout her body.
I was told a patch was eczema by 3 GPs. The day after my Mum’s funeral I was given a referral to a dermatologist. It was a BCC.
I believe Australia has walk in skin clinics. Australian grans may know more? If only we had them in UK.

Peonyrose Fri 01-Nov-19 05:34:52

Good luck Pamelaj, I am glad you are getting the treatment albeit late.
My lovely husband died because of incorrect dianosise, too painful and raw even now to discuss. Always listen to that inner voice and persist if you feel done thing is wrong.

Marydoll Fri 01-Nov-19 09:10:23

PamelaJ1, I do hope you get everything sorted. My mother refused to see a doctor about her basal cell ulcer, which eventually ate away part of her face. By the time she got help twenty five years later, it was too late. sad

Amagran, I don't always agree with GabriellaG54 and her outspoken comments, however, her comments are generally sincere and honest..

I agree with your post. It would be a pity to lose her from GN.
I don't think she meant her comment to be offensive, it was perhaps unwise, but not malicious.

Mapleleaf Fri 01-Nov-19 09:53:19

Wishing you all the best, PamelaJ1. You were wise to persist, we know our bodies and know when something doesn't feel right.

rafichagran Fri 01-Nov-19 13:27:21

I too will miss Gabriella. I did not always agree with her but her posts were intresing and sincere.
I am sorry she is leaving and resent it when posters say Oh you have got to go, as someone did upthread. Leave it to the moderators.

petra Sat 02-Nov-19 16:41:13

I too will miss GabriellaG54. I would sometimes go, ouch at some of her comments. But, I truely believe she posted some controversial comments that other posters might like to have done.

OurKid1 Sat 02-Nov-19 16:55:20

I'm wondering if you meant solar kerastosis. I had one next to my left eyebrow, which was treated by a cream, which stung like made but did the job with no ill effects and the scabby, flaky mark has completely disappeared. I was told that it is "just" sun damage, not BCC, but should be treated just in case it turns into something worse.

dragonfly46 Sat 02-Nov-19 16:59:47

I am sorry Gabriella has gone but reading the nasty posts on here I am not surprised. I wonder if these keyboard warriors would actually speak this way to her face.

Urmstongran Sat 02-Nov-19 17:39:46

Unusually, I didn’t get a reply from Gabriella to my p.m. I assume she immediately signed out after saying she was off.
