Huge win for Andy Burham, Reform a distant second - where to now?
annie hope it’s not presumptuous of me to start the thread but I appear to have closed the last one and didn’t want to leave anyone with no where to go.
Welcome all x
Good night all hope you all have a peaceful night God bless x
Crumble would be lovely at Dawns x
annie not quite the same but we all have aloe vera's from our son's plant which he gave us some time ago. I also have the one from his kitchen which is thriving so much.
Strange but I am not at all stressed but the virus and will manage at home with DH and the Internet. I think it is because we all share it rather than the issues DH and I face which are not shared with others.
Horrible wet day today so might make cake for DS and DiL as a small thank you for all they are doing for us. Today they take a car for MOT for us and collect prescriptions. I worry that they are putting themselves at risk in order to save us. Have left out some disposable gloves for them to use when they pick up the car.
Good morning everyone xx
Just a quick post to wish everyone well and to stay safe, look after yourselves. Back later to catch up.
Love to you all, take care xx
In my case my anxiety reared its ugly head with physical symptoms stomach churning, IBS just what you need with the toilet paper shortage!
Hi all x
nonnie your aloe vera is exactly the same as my cistus and
aloe vera is a healing plant x
BlueSky IBS is certainly not something we need now x
My plan to overcome the agoraphobia has been squashed,
will not now have someone to accompany me to the coffee
morning in the Church hall, the firm who were bringing an
electric wheelchair have cancelled , physiotherapist not doing home visits, back to the drawing board for plan 3.
Annie we all need a plan 3!
As I'm on medication I'm more worried about getting my repeats than food really as I will be forced to go on a diet!
BlueSky does your pharmacy not deliver ?
Annie no problem with collecting until they stop us as they do deliver. I'm concerned about supplies from manufacturers but don't take any nptice it's just me with my anxiety!
BlueSky if that was to happen I would have the very opposite problem to you , you would have to lose weight,
I have liquid food replacement, if supplies stopped I would be
even skinnier, am 7 stone now ?
annie just put the thought on hold as there is nothing you can do about it at the moment. I am sure you understand the reasons.
I think we all need to think differently about our homes now that many of us feel it would be wrong to go out. My concern is now about DS & DiL who are making themselves more vulnerable by doing things for us in addition to what they need themselves. I know they are young and fit but still concerned.
nonnie I am not thinking about it, x
Good for you annie I thought you would.
Just made flapjack for DS & Dil*. They eat 'sensibly' so I will convince them that oats and sultanas are 'sensible' and not mention the other ingredients! I will leave it in the porch so they can pick up without contact.
nonnie my mind is concentrated on - how do I cut my nails,
how do I wash my hair, how do I change the bed linen and put
on a duvet cover when I only have use of a fore finger and thumb on both hands ? x
Hi all you wonderful friends. My internet has not been working too well but now fine.
Been reading all your messages.
It really is a worrying, uncertain time.
So many of us have many worries about family, health etc.
This forum is wonderful. Everyone is so open and caring.
Just knowing that we can come on here and share with people we trust is such a wonderful thing to be able to do.
On a lighter note all this talk of Apple crumble and apple cake is encouraging me to bake.
Sending
to all. And let’s hope and pray the sun shines soon.
Xxx
PS special thanks to Annie for her wisdom and always being there. Annie you take care. Hugs.x
,
flutterby I can’t bake so am writing a book for my great grandchildren, haven’t any yet and hope not for some time.
I want them to know about the South Wales mining valleys, the importance of ‘The Chapel’, through my eyes as a child.
And will include Aberfan 1966. My grandfather who couldn’t
speak English’walking out’ with my grandmother ,who didn’t
speak Welsh, escorted by her father , the Baptist Minister. ? ???????
Wow Annie I would love to read that... your grandchildren and great grandchildren will have a very special book there, just like there very special Grandmothers and Great Grandmother.. what a fantastic thing to be able to do ...
Hello everyone xx
Your book sounds a wonderful idea Annie something to be treasured. Sorry to hear you are now on plan3!
Good to see you Flutterby, we are all worrying, even more than usual, we keep on keeping on x
Bluesky IBS is horrible, difficult to keep under control I know, situations like this don't help.
Joce and Nonnie thinking of you xx
I did a last shop today, I don't think there will be another one for a long time. I met a lovely lady in a purple bobble hat and we talked across the aisles, she was very upset about the empty shelves, no milk, pasta or rice. I found the manager to help her. I do hope she is managing.
I bought some knitting wool a couple of weeks ago and will try to start it, although my hands are such a nuisance, but I will see.
Had a text from the doctors today to say no appointments now, only telephone appointments. That's ok I have my medication and will manage. I doubt my hospital appointment will go ahead a week on Monday but that doesn't matter.
Daffodils are flowering now in the garden, what a joyful picture they make and some pretty blue rockery flowers too.
Look after yourselves everyone, take good care, and have a peaceful night, without worry and pain, and good sleep if you can. Love to you all xx
hi everyone. i hope you are all well at this moment in time and not too stressed with all this silly panic buying. Sorry i havent been about..many things on my plate. Sadly my best friend has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and i had to be there for him. He is having a biopsy Tuesday so i am terrified for him x
Oh nanny that is so sad. I hope the results are not as bad as you fear.
Went to see our family tonight for the last time before lockdown. So sad not to have cuddles.
annie your poor hands. So wish we could help. Your courage is amazing.
I am thinking of you all. We will get through this together ?
Aww nanny that’s sad hope things go ok for him.. my father in law had one many many years ago he was 50 went on to be 83. Always hope...
it’s so sad I was at the back of a young woman in Aldi with a new baby, she had got 5 packs of baby wipes, they took one of her told her she was only allowed 4, she apologised, she was genuinely sorry.. then turn to me and said I am sorry but I have been every where for baby milk and cannot find any any where... I felt so very sorry for her. Then last night I saw a photo of a woman in Asda she had that much baby milk it was from one end of the belt to the other how can that be right ...
hello everyone else hope every ones staying as positive as we can,
Take care all, have a good peaceful night sleep ? good night all God Bless ?
Just feel for all of you who still have serious health problems to cope with plus the added strain of this virus. We can only follow guidance given and try to be positive.
I hope you are doing ok Nanny.
Good night all and God Bless.
My good thing for the day was that l was out walking and l fed the swans an apple tart that was a tiny bit over its time. And they loved it.
Someone has to do that too.
Hello lovely ladies. Just had a thought - we can't even run away if we wanted to. Nowhere to run. We can't walk away more slowly either (in a bit of a huff). So, we're going to have to come up with some decent ideas as to how to stay upright and sane for the foreseeable. I think that diets must be a no-no. That'll make us more miserable, and making and baking is fun. If we all get too round and wobbly due to being locked in, maybe we can make delicious stuff and post it on to Annie. Although you sound as if you have enough things to cope with and don't need a houseful of cake as well. You'd have to change your forum name to MarieAntoinette, Annie ! See that Mother's Day is going to be a non event in most households. You name it, and 5 minutes later the news tells us it's not happening. Hope everyone has managed with shopping for anything important and that today hasn't been too frustrating. So impressed to hear you're writing your own history book for your Grandchildren, Annie. How lovely. It's fantastic to get your feelings and impressions and experiences down in writing for youngsters to read. I know a handful of people who have been doing something similar - writing all about their lives for their grandchildren. I think when the memories flow, it's often quite a surprise to find what interesting lives we all have had and life has changed so much in say the last 50 plus years, it's quite astonishing to think that small children are unlikely to have any knowledge of the stuff we knew and experienced. If anyone has any projects - cakes or knitting or crafting or gardening - that they are planning for this enforced "holiday" we are all stuck on... maybe posting the odd photo would make a change. Speaking of odd photos - this brings me to my darling Fat Boy who is appearing just for your pleasure, hopefully at the end of this post !? He loves a photo, always poses for the camera and I'm sure if he could get his paws to cooperate, he'd be doing selfies as well. Sleep well everyone. Don't worry in the middle of the night about things you cannot change, just make a cuppa and then sink into your nice warm beds. We just need time to turn this bad time around. We can do it. Big hugs to everyone, especially those of you in pain or sadness. Nighty night from me in my French prison - and from Fat Boy x
Well done, Dawn - but please remember to save your Crumbles for the gang on here. Never Swans ! Night night x
