WORD ASSOCIATION - 9th May 2026
annie hope it’s not presumptuous of me to start the thread but I appear to have closed the last one and didn’t want to leave anyone with no where to go.
Welcome all x
He's gorgeous Granmafrench! Bonne nuit!
Forgot my positive for to day, did a bit more work on my Dolls house, made me happy... night night all x
He says “thank you bluesky, takes one to know one”. Sleep well, stay well x
Merci Fat Boy!
Anniebach Wed 18-Mar-20 16:04:26 gosh that must be hard. Wish I had an answer.
Flutterby1 Wed 18-Mar-20 16:34:48 we had trouble too and I had to insist on speaking to a supervisor which resulted in them coming next morning. The engineer was brilliant, phoned and checked it was safe to come, wore disposable gloves and kept his distance. No Internet problems since.
lavenderzen Wed 18-Mar-20 18:51:55 Good luck with all that. I have previously ordered wool online and the service was excellent. DH had his GP appointment by phone, worked well.
annie writing a book is a great idea. I have thought of just writing down my life and then giving it to the AC to add theirs and keep it running through the generations.
nanny2507 Wed 18-Mar-20 19:08:36 so sorry to hear that.
Joce345 Wed 18-Mar-20 22:35:41 I think it is time for the shops to ration things.
I've lost my mind.
I wrote Coronavirus Rhapsody:
Is this a sore throat?
Is this just allergies?
Caught in a lockdown
No escape from reality.
No, I copied it!
This CV 19 is bringing out the best in some people too. Had a text from my neighbour offering help and suggesting a chat over the fence. DS is working out an exercise regime for us to do at home, I suggested he held a class in the middle of the road for the whole close!
Hi all
Annie how are you today?
Dawn hope you are ok I enjoy feeding the swans.
Grandmarfrench I couldn’t bake if I wanted to can not get no flour for love or money so that’s out... stay save...
Nonnie I love the little poem... really would like to see you all exercising in the close!!!
Hi all x
How many here would feel positive if they had the chats I had
with two of my grandchildren ?
Elder granddaughter ,when I spoke of just a couple of things
in my book - ‘ Granny when you were in school ? sounds over 100 years ago.
Grandson when I said I am watching box sets on BritBox to
avoid tv, - Gran, you still have all the DVDS’s you bought me
when we watched ‘Lost’. The thought of 121 episodes of
‘Lost’ !
Enough to make me depressed ?
Good night and god bless everyone. Stay safe. Have a peaceful night and sleep well free from worry and pain xx
Hi all,
Annie that’s really made me smile hehe. That’s children for you, you have laugh ? think there a positive in there Annie my grandkids think I am two old to have gone to school ... x
Night lavender sleep well x
Well hello all. I had my haircut today. Was in two minds as to whether to go or not but decided in the end I might as well. Went to Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco. No food! Got a few bits so tomorrow it’s time to collect prescriptions from Boots and then we are in. We will still have to shop somewhere as there are no delivery slots available from any of the local supermarkets. We are taking our temperatures every day. I find they fluctuate a lot. I was worried yesterday when it was 37.4 but then this morning 36,9 so not so bad.
Sort of surreal at the moment. There are a few nice threads on GN at the moment trying to cheer others up and to offer company. I hope you are all ok. This will be a trying time for us all but if annie can cope with all she has to put up with then so can we. Hope you all sleep well xx
Anyone else truly love getting into bed at night?
Night and sleep well tonight.
Dawn xx
Hell's Bells, Joce - no flour? What a liberty. Who's taken all the flour then...the same greedy lot with the toilet roll addiction, probably. So sorry to hear that, takes away the chance of some fun in the kitchen, doesn't it. Hope you loved the haircut Doodle good to keep your spirits up. Annie I did laugh, you never admitted to being that old to us!!! Love children, they just tell it like it is, don't they. Hope you all have a peaceful night and no worries - at least until the morning. Promise? Sleep well and big hugs xx
Been sent a report from an American doctor living in Italy. He says we don't realise how bad it is and should be isolating now, not leaving it as late as Italy did. Also read that our death rate is a higher percentage than Italy despite them having a bigger percentage of old people. I have completely changed my view in less than a week.
I do hope people's cupboards will be full and they will stop this madness. Even fresh fruit and vegetables running out. Presumably much of it will go rotten and be wasted.
Hi all x
Ok, have a giggle, go on the thread
‘Health and Safety in days gone by’
I have posted a link ?
Hello everyone xx
Wishing you all a peaceful evening and a good nights sleep free from worry and pain xx
Hair cut fine. A bit short but then I may not be able to go for a while. Just off to read annie’s thread.
Sleep well all x
Oh annie what a lovely photo. So angelic, like only children can be x
Grandmafrench no flour no toilet rolls no bread no rice or pasta no meat.. nothing in our local supermarket..
Hello hope you are all ok, and everyone’s having a nice evening..
my positive for today, I did get some yeast no flour but I got yeast, I can freeze it, for another day..
Night all have a peaceful night sleep ?
Hi all you lovelies I am just popping in to say I think you are all wonderful.
Annie could t find that link.
I must say at times I am quite scared then I try to distract myself.
Had a lovely walk by the seaside this morning when it was quiet. Weather was beautiful.
Have to go to the bank tomorrow as I don’t do online banking
and then go buy couple of Easter eggs for family. Will post them next week.
Annie hope you and DAVID are ok
I was just saying to a friend today I feel like we are living in a
Si fi movie.
Wishing you all a good nights sleep. Night night
Xx
If I may ask ?
Anyone have to self isolate and if so are you living alone x
Good evening lovelypeople under pressure ! Walk by the sea, Flutterby1 ? How lovely. We are now banned from going hear the sea or beaches. Such a shame - all that lovely air and empty space. Nowhere to go where there could be a danger of chatting to others. So, avoiding a big telling off from the Police and a fine of €135, we just take the dogs and walk around close to where we live. Sunshine wonderful today, fed lots of plants in my garden and DH cut some hedges. Job only half done because we see that the local Dump is closed......all the cuttings will have to wait in the garden in a massive heap until we are let out again.
Hope you've had an interesting day, Annie. I read how you have been working out how to "sanitise" endless bottles of meal replacements. You must have to be so resourceful, I take my hat off to you for patience and resilience...probably a lot of that with people who just don't do their jobs properly. I bet the time can't come soon enough for you to put your "going outside" plan into effect. Everything crossed that those happy times come soon and that we're not all pinned down by this Virus problem for a long time.
We know (and you know) that it's not personal, Joce but going to the supermarket for stuff they don't have - repeatedly - is enough to drive you to drink I should think. I bet that's going to be in short supply as well now.
. I've been trying online to get a proper mask that I can wear to the supermarket or grocers when I next go outside. I have disposable gloves although not been near a shop for 5 days tomorrow, but would really like to pick up some fresh Veg., The thought of going inside a building with others makes me a bit panicky so I think that I may stick to the market. At least it's easier to get served and I don't have to stand in a queue. People are quite bad enough in supermarkets in normal times, they just push closer and closer thinking that you'll move through the checkout faster. Why? I said to a woman not very long ago who was actually pushing against my trolley "What's the rush, do you work for the Fire Brigade?" The speed of the average worker here makes English people look as if they run on rocket fuel, but they still can still behave sometimes as if they don't have a minute to live and I hate that. No one needs to be like that, it's very bad for your health and quickly turns everyone into behaving like robots. Lavenderzen I was spraying my pillows with a fantastic English sleep spray this evening.( Is your name because of your love of lavender?) It does help sleep I think and is so calming. And don't we all need calming!
Maybe best for me to skip watching the Prime Minister giving yet another press conference before I go to bed now. Can't imagine any good news is going to be forthcoming. I shall close my eyes and plan my garden and think calm thoughts to help me fall asleep instead. Keep safe, please. Sleep well/dormez bien, everyone. Big hugs to all. (((
)))
Dawn & Doodle hope you're both o.k., and you too, Nonnie - I so agree about leaving a lot of restrictions in the UK too late - poor, poor Italy. And if it's true what is predicted, the USA is just not going to know what's hit it. (Despite the Orange Clown telling everyone that it was under control. Actually he said, as he does, "Tremendous Control!" Watch this space, I think sadly. Nighty night x
The sun is shining. I called the postman and asked him to post a letter for me, put it on a wall and he picked it up. Someone collecting an Ironing board I put on Freecycle which I have left in porch so no need for contact. Exercise programme from DS today so intend to do it to music. Taking each day as it comes, nothing else to do.
I do hope that those of you still shopping can find someone to do it for you. I have seen videos of young people in hospital struggling to breath so we all need to be very careful. Also rumours that the hospitals will have to choose who to treat so older people may not be treated.
7 days since I was last out so should be safe but DH went out on Sunday and the Internet man came on Tuesday.
I think this sounds more positive than I feel but I am trying.
Keep safe all.
