annie hope it’s not presumptuous of me to start the thread but I appear to have closed the last one and didn’t want to leave anyone with no where to go.
Welcome all x

Doodle Sun 02-Feb-20 14:44:57

annie I think mine is mostly OCD praying. If I think of something I pray about it. Sometimes random stuff like I pray for someone I read about on GN but the OCD element is praying for my family. Don’t let this happen, don’t let that happen. I wish I could let it go at once a day but I tend to ramble on through the day out walking, doing the ironing all sorts. Most of it is repetition of what I’ve prayed before during the day. No sure it is required to go on and on about the same stuff. I should have more faith and leave it all up to God but it’s a bit difficult. I think sometimes my brain has repetitive strain injury ?

rafichagran Sun 02-Feb-20 15:09:47

Hello everyone, I hope you are all finding things easier. I understand what you mean about OCD. I remember my obsession with bathroom taps and counting as I turned them off and then having g to check again.
I feel very down today. Sciatica is quite bad at the moment. I feel very down, and cancelled taking my now 7 year old Grandson out for a treat.
I an back at work tommorow and am hoping to have a more easy pain free day with less anxiety.
Please keep well everyone.

rafichagran Sun 02-Feb-20 15:11:43

Sorry grammar appaling on the above post I am finding it hard to concentrate.

Doodle Sun 02-Feb-20 17:05:04

rafichagran sorry you are not feeling well. Back pain is horrid. No wonder you are a bit out of sorts. Hope you get to meet up with your grandson soon.

rafichagran Sun 02-Feb-20 18:13:50

Thanks for your kind words Doodle, Its my right leg and the electric shocks going down it that is making me so low. I still work, I drive and
I am normally fit, I walk alot, and have not so far never ever got out of breath quickly.
Like you I am worrying about other people. Also how am I going to get and stay at work. This is really pulling me down.
I know everyone on this thread has their own problems to overcome and I hope it is not too bad at the moment. I hope I do not come across as a whinger.

Joce345 Sun 02-Feb-20 20:08:09

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-20 21:29:33

Enjoy your trip to Disney "Jose* I have been once you will enjoy it. Hope you are well "Annie"

Doodle Sun 02-Feb-20 21:44:18

Hi annie no thank goodness I do not do that (I used to as a child). I tend to say the same basic sort of prayers every day. Using my own words along with short prayer verses and prayers for family, others in trouble, people in the world those suffering etc. People I’ve read about in the news. But for things that worry me I often find myself repeating the same bits several times during the day (I am sure God heard me the first time ?)

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-20 21:55:03

Doodle does it cause you distress or stress ?

Doodle Sun 02-Feb-20 22:03:00

Not so much distress. Maybe a little stress. I think I pray too much (if that is possible). When I have less to worry about I don’t pray so much. I usually pray for a while every morning and then odd prayers during the day as I think of something. Then shorter prayers mid afternoon and again before bed.
No kneeling though now. Just sat in a chair. I can’t get up and down as I used to ?

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-20 22:15:13

Sounds as if have your time for prayer as I do, and you send
‘Arrow Prayers’ I at time times send arrow prayers, I read of
the troubles of a poster and send an arrow prayer. Just heard on the news a man has been stabbed so sent an arrow prayer ,
is this what you do Doodle ?

Doodle Sun 02-Feb-20 22:25:02

Yes annie, that’s exactly what I do. Some tragedy in the newspaper or on the news. The people in Australia with the fires. The homeless and hungry I tend to think of when I have a meal. I live near a road where ambulances go flying past most days. I always say a prayer for whoever it’s for and their family. I do tend to repeat some short prayers for my DGS as he’s on my mind a lot.

Anniebach Sun 02-Feb-20 22:40:37

Ok Doodle your prayers for your grandson is definitely not
OCD, it’s what we do .

Could you put together the homeless, hungry and other sadness in the world and offer up one prayer ?

What about a prayer list and a time for the prayer once a day
for world troubles ? Not when your eating, I may be so wrong
but you could be apologising because you are not homeless or
hungry or in a disaster in the world ?

Yes arrow prayers , but if for something reported in the media
one arrow prayer not throughout the day, he does hear our prayers . Think if this will ease the stress, try it tomorrow? X

Doodle Sun 02-Feb-20 23:08:16

Thanks annie. Sound advice. I will try that. I have never used a prayer list but it sounds a good idea. Is it a list of people/things you are praying for as a sort of reminder? Thank you so much for thinking of me. x

Anniebach Mon 03-Feb-20 12:20:25

Hi all x

Doodle I don’t think you need a reminder my love, a list
with the hungry, homeless, disasters around the world, you spoke of the fires in Australia. Then pray once in a day for them, not when your eating your meals .

If a disaster breaks news then an arrow prayer .

You are exhausting yourself because you are so caring . And remember there needs to be a time to listen to him , -
‘Be still and know I that I am God’ , this when you are out walking ? And not forgetting ‘The Jesus Prayer’ . X

Doodle Mon 03-Feb-20 12:41:49

Thank you annie. I think you are right. I think the worry about DGS has made me go into overdrive as it were. I think your reminder to sit back and listen was a timely one. Thank you so much for caring x

Anniebach Mon 03-Feb-20 14:09:45

Doodle you mind is tired, when I had a load of worries and
prayed , I doubt at times I made sense. He knows what we are
saying to him , even when I have spoken in Welsh ? x

Dawn22 Mon 03-Feb-20 15:40:34

Hi everyone
Last Saturday, the 1st of February was St Brigid's Day. She is a lovely Irish Saint whom l have been very fond of for many years now. I most like her because she protects the home.

There is a lovely St Brigid's Cross, made traditionally out of rushes. I actually sleep with mine in the bed because I feel the north, south, east and west points of it protect me as l sleep and occasionally l turn it in a director that l need protection from.

It may well sound a bit OCD but anything that helps can do no harm. We all do have homes that need protecting. St Brigid is my saint and she is there for anyone else on the BDG who might need her at any time.

Not feeling great myself as l have alot of difficult things going on.

Take care everyone and thinking of us all.
Dawn xx

Doodle Mon 03-Feb-20 19:47:50

Hi dawn. Sorry life is difficult for you at the moment. I think you should take comfort where you can. Hope your problems are resolved soon.flowers

Anniebach Mon 03-Feb-20 21:17:20

Dawn I don’t see comfort from a religious relic as OCD , l have a cross from Jerusalem in my living room and a crucifix
in my bedroom.

Sorry you are having a difficult time, we are here for you x

Joce345 Mon 03-Feb-20 21:19:34

Hi Dawn I welcome St Brigid where do you get your cross from ? I agree with Doole that we take comfort where we can, why not. Do hope you feel better soon Dawn, sending you hugs and prayers..

Annie we are counting down now only 15 days to go..
hope everyone doing ok

rafichagran Mon 03-Feb-20 21:29:45

Dawn, take comfort where you can. I do. I think your cross sounds lovely 15 days to countdown Jose, Disney really is something to look forward too.
I hope Doode and Annie are feeling well or better.

Anniebach Mon 03-Feb-20 21:48:53

rafichagran hope work was ok today, how is the wretched
Sciatica ?

Anniebach Mon 03-Feb-20 21:50:03
