I was going to buy an electric wheelchair in April but all
plans were halted. I was devastated but was given much support here. You will get to know us all, post when ever you
wish always someone here x

I suffer from acute anxiety. Some days I get so low.
My life would make an unbelievable depressing soap.

I noticed your post about not getting out of the house. A thought, as a wheelchair user I have always payed a carer to take me out. Social service contributed towards this until Covid.

Scaredy-cat. I love Norwich but like everywhere else it’s changed a lot. We have decided that we can’t shut ourselves in the house forever and had a few days on the Norfolk Broads last month. We stay in cottages and are very careful. Mental health is obviously very important and we’ve had 3 months lockdown which was a nightmare. We are both in our 70s. No one knows how many years we have left and can’t stay shut away for what time we have

Good news about your son Doodle - it will do his confidence good too.
Annie I think that as this pandemic goes on many more people will have a much better understanding of depression and anxiety than they had before.
Bluesky what a shame your DH couldn,t have his injections - they could have come out to the car to do it maybe. My sister is just in remission from Myeloma and they have done njections for her like that. I think phone physio would be a sight to see!! I was able to get my cut seen to last week at our surgery. I hope you feel better soon
Jan you are brave going away - hope you will have a lovely time. I envy you living in Norfolk - Norwich is my home town but I haven,t lived there for a very long time

Hi Everyone. BlueSky that’s dreadful that no one is allowed in your GPs surgery. Our surgery is doing telephone and video appointments but if you want/need a face to face appt you can have one.
I saw my lovely GP yesterday and have had my medication changed to maximum dose. We are going to Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales in a couple of weeks - hopefully!- and I already have an appt booked for when I get back when we will decide whether to try a different drug. I already feel better just for talking things through with him.

I have good news too. DH just measured me and I have not shrunk at all as I got older. This confirms my BMI is now normal so I just have to work on my waistline which is too big to be healthy. Good to have something in my life I can control.

annie I understand how awful people can be and how hard it is to deal with. Someone used to taunt a DS and say he was 'mentally ill' like his mum. I know that person is also on antidepressants now and wonder if they ever reflect upon the way they behaved. If you love someone who has a mental health issue surely you would do all you could to help?

Doodle so happy to hear the good news. When recruiting starts again I think jobs will be given to those who have found some sort of work and can show they want to work rather than any who appear not to have made an effort. We have a friend who lost his job and he has been doing all sorts of things to earn and keep himself busy.

BlueSky that sounds horrible, hope it clears up quickly. I sometimes feel our GP looks at our DOB and not our symptoms. DH was told he needed a knee replacement but they are not doing them at the moment so he could have an injection. Then he was told they can't do the injections because patients are not allowed in the surgery. Now he has been told he can't have either and has had phone physio! How can you have physio if they can't see you? One DS has given him some exercises and shown him how to do it. Wish I had more faith in GPs.

BlueSky please wipe that word ‘hypochondriac’ from your mind, anyone who has health problems must see their GP, why worry and worry and worry when a visit to the GP can
sort things out.

Thanks Annie Joce and Doodle I was expecting to hear from them eventually but I might mention it to the GP again, sooner rather than later.

joce I have been wobbling this week. The news about my son has lifted my spirits. It doesn’t solve all the problems but it certainly helps. Hope you get something positive to cheer you too.

BlueSky my sympathy, doubt very much your GP thinks you a hypochondriac if you were to have investigations into the cause of the gastritis, don’t be put off seeking medical
help/advice for fear of being classed a hypochondriac x

Morning all. Doodle pleased your son has found some work even if temporary, worrying times for the younger generations. Well I now think my gastritis is back. Familiar gnawing feeling in my stomach. I get this a couple of times a year, bad especially on a empty stomach. The doctor will think I'm a hypochondriac, in fact it was going to be investigated earlier in the year then we had Covid and I haven't heard anymore. Well hope you'll all have a pleasant day.

I have a bit of good news to share. My DS has some work for a few months. It’s not a permanent job but it will certainly help.

Annie I can’t even begin to understand what you had to and still go though.. You are right people don’t, many can’t talk about mental illness

My personal opinion, wrongly are right don’t think any one can truly understand mental illness of any kind unless they have touched on it them selfs. I have suffered for years like many more, I don’t understand it..
I wonder how many therapists if any have touched on mental illness them self. Do they truly understand how we feel or what goes though our heads when we are at our worst, screening out for help.

Doodle. One reason why I speak out about mental illness,
if my darling daughter had cancer people would have understood but a serious mental illness ? No way because it
is still not openly discussed or accepted.

annie I can only imagine what you went through and your efforts to protect your DGC. Your poor daughter too. People can be so unkind.

People are not always kind when your darling child has Bi polar and it Is out of control, the sinking feeling when in the
supermarket queue, no escape and you are told ‘I saw your
daughter last night, she was ? ? ? ? ‘, your thoughts are ‘please
don’t anyone say anything to my grandchildren in school’ , then home and check with the school.

Scaredycat, oh I like rich tea fingers too, the only biscuits I allow myself.

Annie I like your acceptance of the family situation, accepting is hard but best in the long run.

I think you are right that things do 'creep up on you', just don't know how to stop it or deal with it when it happens.

Doodle I think some people just have difficulty with empathy and prefer to shut situations out rather than be supportive.

Joce I gave up thinking about what others think after the loss of our son. I no longer care, people have to take me as I am, or not, up to them now.

Doodle sorry you are still worried about son and family, we just can't help that if we are made that way. I wonder about DS & Dil's jobs at the moment.

I think we are very lucky here, on the odd occasions when we have gone into town we have found everyone to be considerate and keep their distance. Haven't eaten out indoors yet though.

Very busy morning 'working' on a project which has made me feel very useful at last. Time for breakfast now!
