The Vaccine

Has everyone made up their minds about the vaccine yet?

I an 83 so in what is possibly the second group to be offered it.
I just cannot make a decision about whether or not to accept.

I have always had the flue jab, had pneumonia one and shingles, so why am I so undecided about this?

I have spoken to several friends in the same age group and they are all eager to go ahead, in fact one is champing at the bit and says he will be first in the queue.

Any thoughts ?

Well I won’t be joining the queue.
I’m not anti vax. I’ve had everything going but they were all long established vaccinations.
I prefer to wait to see how many of you get side effects.

Great! There always has to be somebody who's first to have any medical intervention. Nice of you to think of others! hmm

Shazzyp Tue 24-Nov-20 13:33:27

Agree onthenaughtystep1 ! Im not anti-vac either but I also wont be having the vaccine.

I have the flu jab each year. Yesterday I had the Shingles one that is a one off. No side effects.. I shall certainly have the vaccine one also!

If a person doesn't take up the offer who do they think will want to nurse them if they should get corona virus?

That's nice. How long are you going to wait?

Tillybelle Where's your evidence that Bill Gates is involved in the Oxford lab? I have a close friend, a professor of biochemistry at another university, who contributed to the research. I'll ask him about Bill Gates, but I'd like to know how you claim he's involved.

grandtanteJE65 Tue 24-Nov-20 13:20:01

Please, would someone explain why on earth anyone would hesitate to have the vaccine?

There are reputable firms and universities behind it, so why hesitate?

I shall certainly have it as soon as possible and DH too.

growstuff Tue 24-Nov-20 13:15:53

Wow! I'm surprised Bill Gates isn't being accused of manufacturing the virus in the first place! hmm

Well said! You reminded me; If I can learn to inject myself, and even was taught to take blood from Autistic people when I worked as a Psychologist on a molecular genetic study of Autism, then those people giving the injections will be fine!

Thanks Tweedle, very reassuring.

When I was offered the shingles vacine I questioned whether it was necessary for me to have it as I had had shingles a few years previously. I was told that was all the more reason I should have it.

I'm 67, I have never had, and never will a have a flu jab, and they will drag me screaming to have this rushed out vaccine which has been created to suit the Government narrative. It takes YEARS to create and test a safe vaccine. The long term effects cannot possibly be known. Do some research ladies, it's all there on Google. Look at the ingredients. Dead foetus, aluminum, formaldehyde, do you really want to put all this into your body? Of course I appreciate everyone thinks and feels differently, it's a personal choice.

What Government narrative do you mean?

Where did you read that the vaccine contains dead foetus, etc?

Stella14 Tue 24-Nov-20 13:05:52

Yes, I’ll be at the front of the queue given the option. I’m surprised by Bluesky saying she would like the Oxford one, but not the Pfizer one. The later has a trial sample size of 45,000, double the Oxford one! confused

Glenfinnan Tue 24-Nov-20 13:05:37

I’ll be having it!!

Alegrias2 Tue 24-Nov-20 13:02:51

Reading conspiracy theories on the internet does not constitute doing research.

Listening to people who know what they are talking about is a good idea though.

I will have it. I did put my name forward as a guinea pig for the vaccine tests but was not selected. I am 69, consider myself as fit as I can be at my age and as I am happy to have the flu jab each year then I am happy to have the Covid one. The flu virus constantly changes from year to year so what was pumped into your arm this year may well be different next year.

Tweedle24 Tue 24-Nov-20 12:46:43

Juniper1 As a retired nurse with 40+ years of experience, mostly as a ward sister, I have no worries about who gives me the injection. They will all be trained by professionals whose registration is on the line if the training is not up to scratch.
In fact, there is very little damage that can be done by giving an injection into the arm. The phlebotomists in surgeries and hospitals, who are trained ‘on the job’, mostly with no prior medical knowledge, could do a good deal more damage.
You have no need to worry.

I have never had the flu jab even though eligible, but this year I changed my mind and had it. No reaction at all. I was fine.

I will definitely have the Covid vaccine, hopefully the Oxford one, but I am desperate to get some sort of life back after being in solitary confinement since 11th March and can't wait to be called for it. I trust Jonathan Van Tam as someone said further back. I feel lucky to live in a country where it will soon become available.

storey49 Tue 24-Nov-20 12:39:37

My husband and I have both decided we will have the jab when offered. We feel madness not to. Both in our 70's we want to get on with the rest of our lives, see our grandchildren again as well as the great grandchildren, especially as a new one is due in May.

Kim19 Tue 24-Nov-20 12:35:03

I'll go for it with gusto. Perhaps everything to gain and certainly nothing to lose if this current lifestyle is all that's on offer for the future.

sansa Tue 24-Nov-20 12:26:22

It’s a personal choice for sure but if, like me, you love someone on the front line who has suffered badly from Covid you wouldn’t hesitate. It’s about looking after each other and not just ourselves and thinking of those brave souls nursing very sick people.

Tedd1 Tue 24-Nov-20 12:25:04

Forgot to say that anyone can be trained to vaccinate as long as there are medics around should there be any unlikely adverse reactions
