support, understanding and sharing for all mental health
troubles .

Good afternoon everyone
Annie - At Last!!! People who listened and understood the reality of what you needed. It must have felt good to get into your bed again.Alfie will soon feel familiar and then there,ll be no stopping you. Good that the Summer months are coming so when you are able to get outside you can enjoy the sunshine.
Doodle - glad your tooth is better but a good idea to get a check up after so long. Don’t like the dentist but go regularly as I am more scared of any problems arising ! Yes it was lovely to see my friend just like old times.
Rafichagran - hope you are ok.
Nonnie - It sounds like you have been busy this week and started doing the nice ordinary things we took so for granted before the pandemic - that’s my next aim too.
Your walk back from town was a perfect lesson in achievement and you must have felt great when you arrived home.
Today the sun has been shining here and I hope it has shone on all BDG . X

Anniebach Fri 23-Apr-21 14:04:44

Hi all x

nonnie you have had a busy week, good for you x
One step at a time isn’t for me, I will not be able to walk more than two steps, physically impossible.

Well my lovely friends, I finally got across what my needs are and not what others think they are.

Been on Alfie into my bedroom and got into bed twice this
morning, enablers will now help me to get use to using Alfie indoors, rather a lot of three point turns, I had motion sickness! When I manage that they will help me go outdoors,
at long last, 12 weeks of trying to get them to accept what I needed .

Nonnie Fri 23-Apr-21 11:41:11

Hi all. I took a week off social media but not because I was feeling too bad, because I needed to change my focus. I have achieved a lot of the things I had been putting off and managed to motivate myself and adapt to being able to go out more. Silly things like getting shoes repaired, just odds and ends and a visit to a book shop.

Doodle glad your toothache has gone, hope the dentists doesn't need to do much work. I need to book an appointment too.

Annie sorry you are struggling, I agree with those who ask you not to give up. Just take 'baby steps' and don't expect too much of yourself all at once. I found it hard to motivate myself to walk home from town this week, not physically but mentally. I told myself that if I walked down the main road I could call DH to pick me up at some point. When I wilted I made myself walk to the next junction, then I told myself to keep up with the dog walkers in front of me. Eventually I decided I was too near home to call out DH. Yes, all sounds rather silly but it worked, just taking one stage at a time. Rather like taking one moment at a time when in a really bad way.

Sun is shining here so I plan to go outside.

rafichagran Thu 22-Apr-21 19:14:57

Annie I agree you are getting mixed messages, one person saying one thing and one person saying another.
Doodle Hope you feel better soon.
Take care everyone.

Doodle Thu 22-Apr-21 18:54:43

Hope Joce, Nanny Nonnie and Blusky are all doing ok.
Take care all x

Doodle Thu 22-Apr-21 18:54:00

Scaredycat my toothache is better thank you. I booked a dental appointment for a checkup. I haven’t been since 2017 ?. Hope you had a nice time with your friend. Lovely to have a catch up

Doodle Thu 22-Apr-21 18:52:51

Just lost two posts one after the other. Going to post this without saying much just in case it happens again.
Hope your appointments went well Annie. Good to hear you have sunshine today

Scaredycat Thu 22-Apr-21 17:01:04

Hi all.
Doodle hope your toothache has cleared up now - it’s such a horrible feeling isn’t it. Great you,ll have had your second jab by now. How kind of you to pick up a cake for other grandma- she will very pleased I,m sure. Cake is always sure to cheer you up?. It’s a gorgeous day here too - I love bluebells There isn’t another blue like it.
Annie- so sorry you can’t use your wheelchair yet . I do hope this is just a temporary hitch. Hope today’s appointments brought you some actual practical help to be able to use it. Glad you have sun today- can you sit by the door and get some air and feel the sun on your face?
Today is a lovely day and I have been so lucky to have a friend come and sit in the garden with me and we chatted for England!!!! It was so good to see her and a step nearer normality. I hope you have all had a good day.X

Anniebach Thu 22-Apr-21 13:12:46

Hi all x

I am late this morning, several appointments.

Doodle good you are having your second jab. The morning service sounds beautiful.
Sun shining in Mid Wales.

How is everyone ?

Doodle Thu 22-Apr-21 13:03:17

Hello all. Off for our second jab today.
As we are going to be in town anyway, we have arranged to collect some cakes from the local bakery. We will drop one off with “other grandma” who isn’t getting out much these days.
Beautiful day here. Just been watching the Dean’s morning service at Canterbury. It was videoed in the local woodland amongst the bluebells and after the service they left the camera running. It was so peaceful and all you could hear was the birdsong.
Hope everyone has a good day x

Doodle Wed 21-Apr-21 19:45:54

Hi Annie I’m in a funny state today. I had toothache and acid reflux last night and toothache and nausea today. The toothache seems to have subsided but I took one of DHs anti nausea tablets which has made me so sleepy I might just go to bed soon. We are going for our second jab tomorrow so don’t want to miss that.
Why aren’t you allowed to use you chair Annie , is it because it makes your pains worse? Is anyone coming in to help you these days?
Hope all the gang are ok. I might catch up with you again tomorrow as I may be asleep soon ?

Anniebach Wed 21-Apr-21 10:23:04

Hi all x

I haven’t given up the wheelchair, not allowed to use it.

How is everyone today, sun not shining in Mid Wales .

BlueSky Tue 20-Apr-21 21:27:53

Annie I agree with Doodle please don’t give up yet. You need to get used to the wheelchair, hopefully the extra aches and pains will only be temporary x

Doodle Tue 20-Apr-21 19:48:20

Annie so sorry for all those aches and pains. Is it perhaps something you could get used to. I know when using muscles for a different purpose it can cause aching and pain for a while. Please don’t give up yet. I so want you to get to your bed to sleep.

Anniebach Tue 20-Apr-21 13:07:11

Hi all x

How is everyone ?

I am so tired, going to have a nap, hands, wrists, arms, shoulders aching and much pain. Need I say - wheelchair the
cause, another failure !

Doodle Mon 19-Apr-21 19:49:29

Annie never any need to apologise to us. I doubt if any of us in your shoes would show half the resilience and courage that you have over the years.
I hope the new wheelchair suits your needs and allows you the opportunity to sleep in your own bed again.
I’m not surprised Prince Philip’s funeral touched a nerve. It was a very moving ceremony.
Bluesky I have had a cat and dogs. I think pets allow us to have a bond that doesn’t depend on mood. Animals love us regardless and we love them in return.
polomint the weather has certainly improved recently. It makes the days brighter and more cheerful. I’m glad you have a little dog. They are such good companions.
Scaredycat yes we’ve been out again today walking in the sunshine. It was lovely and the river so tranquil and peaceful.
I too thought the Queen was so tiny and fragile but such presence and such duty. I think she’s absolutely amazing.
Hope all the gang are doing well and a bit of sunshine is lifting the spirits.

Scaredycat Mon 19-Apr-21 18:49:51

Evening everybody.
Annie - keeping my fingers crossed that by now you have your wheelchair and that all is well. I agree with Doodle it’s the inconsistencies and opposing ideas from your various ‘helpers’ that are the problem - not you.
Bluesky- you sound a bit happier today- I do think it might do you good to get out a bit more- do you have Nat Trust membership or anything like that? It always helps me if I can have a change of scenery and be somewhere beautiful for a while- especially by the sea.
Polomint- yay it was a mini heatwave today!! Sitting in the sun felt so good - hope it lasts. Hope you enjoyed the sun too.
Doodle- hope you had a nice walk yesterday . I expect it helps your DH to sleep getting out in the air for a walk. So pleased the tablets are helping him .
Yes that photo of the Queen alone was heartbreaking - we have been so lucky to have her for so long.
Wishing you all a peaceful nightxx

Anniebach Mon 19-Apr-21 10:20:28

I found the funeral upsetting, I had memories of my husband’s
funeral, not the bugles etc, the police lining the route from the
Church to the cemetery, the salute at the grave, I had forgotten all that. The Queen looked so fragile .

polomint Mon 19-Apr-21 10:18:34

Hi annie and all the lovely people on here. I hope your wheelchair is suitable for you and you can start being more independent now. It's really awful when we need to depend on others and it does give our confidence a dent. I expect it come to us all at some point in life but we struggle on trying to do things for ourselves and eventually give in.
With the good weather coming, seemingly a wee heatwave, I hope it cheers us all up and we can sit in our gardens or go for a walk.
I had a dog for 17 years and then none for 20 years but I now have a wee 2 year old dog and love him so much. He's been good company at stressful times but he's not perfect! He can bark too much at times if he gets scent of a cat prowling about.
Enjoy today if you can any thoughts are with those who are sad or depressed at the moment

BlueSky Mon 19-Apr-21 10:09:33

Morning all x Annie you sound more positive today, that’s good, let’s hope and wish there is a satisfactory way out of you present situation. Yes I’ve been weirdly upset by Prince Philip’s passing, considering his age and circumstances nobody could wish for anything more. Perhaps it reminded us of our beloved dads or made us think about our own partners. How lovely Annie no I’ve never had a dog, it was always cats when I was a girl, but I know there’s a deeper bond with a dog, it becomes a companion and a family member. Hope everybody will have a pleasant day x cafe

Anniebach Mon 19-Apr-21 09:44:50

Hi all x

Sorry for my post yesterday, wheelchair being delivered today, if successful I will get my independence back and can sleep in my bedroom, start of 12 week on sofa !

How is everyone ?

BlueSky I haven’t been without dogs for over 50 years , so much love

Doodle Sun 18-Apr-21 19:53:12

Bluesky I too keep thinking of the Queen. She looked so tiny and frail at the funeral service but still carrying as usual. I think she is amazing. I doubt we’ll see her like again.
Have you had a dog before? They are good company but like all those we love, parting brings its own sorrow.
Annie I think like most of us, you have got used to lockdown, being isolated, being on your own. I find I get stressed now if anything out of the ordinary is going on.
You can’t change other people so if they are adamant about moving your neighbour on then let them get on with it. You have so many troubles of your own.
I think your health “professionals” are at crossed purposes. The head of your enabling team needs to talk to the physio. If she says you won’t walk again why are they going against her wishes? No it’s not you, it’s them.
Tell them you want help with the wheelchair and scooter but not walking until they’ve discussed it with the GP or physio.
I do so wish your MT could visit you soon. I’m sure a visit from her would lift your spirits.
Take care all x

Doodle Sun 18-Apr-21 19:43:53

scaredycat I’m glad you enjoy your drawing. How nice to be able to go to a class and be with others of like minded interest. I imagine with drawing as an interest you will never be short of company, unlike my quilting which is really only done at home. A sewing machine being a bit more difficult to transport than a pencil. ?
I don’t have wrap around sunglasses as I have to have prescription ones but they are quite big and yes, they do help.
We had our walk this afternoon and met some friends going the other way to us. Had a quick chat which was nice.
Joce are you a keen gardener? I bet you love it when your DGC come round and enjoy your garden with you.

DH has some new tablets from the GP and at last is sleeping better at night. I don’t know if she will give him any more but I do hope so as he has been so tired.

Anniebach Sun 18-Apr-21 11:54:00

Hi all x

So pleased you are all enjoying the sunshine.

I am having a difficult time, wish I could go back to how things were before physiotherapist, occupational therapist, enablers etc came into my life. Coping on my own, enjoying my cross stitching, mini tornado coming up every week. I did say then I wanted to overcome the agoraphobia and go out, meet neighbours , sit in my back garden etc.

No, the neighbours are so into reporting each other, a campaign to have the woman next door moved from the Cul de Sac. Was told last week by occupational therapist I will not
walk again so best to work around this fact, wheelchair being delivered tomorrow.

Head of enablers called Friday, they will start daily visits next
Tuesday, support to get use to wheelchair and scooter and to walk again !

So, I am unable to walk but will get support to walk with intense pain which will get worse .

Opinions please, is it me or them ?

BlueSky Sun 18-Apr-21 11:29:20

Morning all x Another gloriously sunny day. How sad it must be for the Queen, even though not many people can say they had their partner for so long. Just he’s always been there, end of an era. Feeling low for no particular reason and crying about such things as rescue dogs etc, so DH thinks it wouldn’t be a good idea for me to have a dog as I would be devastated. Perhaps I need to get out more and have more interests. Good we can travel around now and explore other areas, not interested in shops at all now, while before I used to love browsing. Hope you’ll all have a peaceful Sunday x cafe
