Annie I have heard about virtual wards on the TV. I hope all this help will work and you can get more mobile again. It would be lovely to hear that you can get around a bit easier.
Have the OT people visited yet?
Joce I’m so sorry you have this anxiety. It’s horrid when that pit opens up every morning when you wake up. Can you try listening to an audio book or something?
Do you feel better as the day goes on?
Nonnie oh such bitter sweet memories. Nice to know that others still remember your son but such a loss for you.
scaredycat we went to deliver presents to our DGD today as it was her birthday. Like you, we are due some really bad weather. You made me laugh at the thought of your children in their washing up bowl zooming down the slopes.?
Take care all and sleep well. X

Hello everyone and Annie xx
It's been a difficult time for me, hence my absence, I pray the corner turned will stay and keep turning.
I think about you all often and send love and prayers.
Have a peaceful evening and sleep well. Love to you all xx

Hi all x

nonnie I so miss baking. I understand your mixed emotions,
sending you a cwtch x

Scaredycat yes you too understand and share the mixed emotions x
In no way could I get even a teeny bit excited over snow, I call it - that white, cold, smelly stuff.

You will give your daughter hugs , lots of hugs.

I didn’t know last week I was in a virtual ward which explains the daily calls from a doctor.

I am being treated by a ‘Reablement Team’, this means someone will call every morning to do similar to a carer but not from Social Services. And a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and trained support workers, not permanent, the aim is to help me get my independence back, to build up wasted muscles, to walk with a walking aid to ease the pain of arthritis and sciatica, and hopefully to have the electric wheelchair and go outdoors on it.

There is no hope of a hip, knee replacement for several years so I am to learn to live as comfortable as possible with arthritis.

Scaredycat Sat 06-Feb-21 14:23:58

Hi everyone.
Joce- sorry the anxiety is so constant. Like you morning is not the best time as anxiety makes me feel physically bad not so much mentally. The internal shakes ,lightheadedness ,jelly legs etc that are there so often . Later in the day is much better is it the same for you?
Nonnie- Anzac biscuits sound a great idea - dried fruit would be nice too I guess. I,m starting to enjoy baking again it’s been so long since I did any and DH is enjoying tucking in!!
It was kind of your sons friends to send you some memories of their times together. They must have been so fond of him. It’s so good to be able to talk about our dear children who are no longer with us.
Doodle- I walked alone yesterday but we went this morning together and it was not cold at all. We have a snowstorm forcast for tomorrow and very cold temperatures. I must admit that, unlike Annie, I get a bit excited if snow is forecast as we get so little here. When my children were small and I lived in a different place I remember them whizzing down hills in a washing up bowl as we didn’t have a sledge! All the kids with the posh sledges wanted to have a go in their bowl!!

Well today we walked round to my DD to deliver her Birthday present for her Birthday on Monday. We thought it best in case the snow arrives tomorrow. I so wanted to give her a birthday hug but it was just a doorstep visit? hope next year I can hug her to bits!!!!
Love to allXX

Nonnie Sat 06-Feb-21 11:39:16

Annie no, not bake off, simply bored off grin Biscuits are very moreish and the recipe says they keep but not sure they will get the chance!

Not going to tell you to 'shut up' think you should keep telling us (and yourself) as it is good news and we all need some of that.

I'm wondering if all the activity is tiring you out and you are now sleeping well?

Scardycat Anzac biscuits were made for the Anzac troupes in the war because they would keep in the post. I look in the pantry and see what needs using up then find a suitable recipe. This time a packet of desiccated coconut, oats, syrup, butter, sugar and bicarb. Really easy and quick.

Joce anxiety all the time sounds really difficult to deal with. I don't think I am an anxious person but when I told DiL about one of my bad dreams she said it was an anxiety dream.

Mixed emotions this morning because one of my dead son's friends sent me some memories of their school days. Sad but such kindness, several of them keep in touch.

Positive - not much but yesterday the rain started just after we got home from our walk.

Joce345 Sat 06-Feb-21 10:48:11

Morning all, if I could just get a rest from this dam anxiety..I dread the morning so much..
Annie hope you are ok, thank you so much for the hug I needed that...
Hope you don’t get too overwhelming with all the activities going on in your home x

Doodle I get that woolly head feeling good description of it nota nice feeling..

scaredycat how are you today?

Hope everyone has a good weekend stay strong ..

Ah Annie you’ve inadvertently given me the answer to something that had been puzzling me. Some time ago I watched a Welsh police drama and the lead police officer was called Cadi. I had never come across it before ?
Well it’s all go for you at the moment isn’t it? I hope all these visits and phone calls turn into real physical help and I hope that wheelchair comes soon. ?
Joce I slept well last night but woke up feeling very woolly headed. I have been asleep in the armchair all morning but do feel a bit more with it now. Hope your DH is feeling better.
Nonnie thank you I am feeling better. That’s a kind thought to make biscuits for a sick friend. Keeping occupied is a good way to go.
rafichagran how are you feeling today?
Scaredycat have you been for your walk today? It was nice here this morning and sunny but torrential rain now. The river is quite high so there must be a lot of water coming into it. Just saw a woman walk past with a bright yellow jacket and matching bobble hat. Looked cheerful. I have a bright yellow jacket.......now where can I find that hat ? ?

Scaredycat Fri 05-Feb-21 14:39:35

Doodle- glad you,ve had your jabs now. I hope you are feeling better today and you are headache free.
Rafichagran- I do hope your arm will heal well soon- I expect the pain has affected your sleep no wonder you are tired and stressed.
Joce- good to hear from you and glad to hear that you too have had your jabs.
Nonnie- so sorry that your friend has more problems I hope they recover soon. It’s horrible feeling unable to help but she will know how much you care - so be kind to yourself. What are Anzac biscuits? Whatever they are I,m sure they will be much appreciated.
Dustyangel and Birdie - nice to meet you, hope today is a good one for you.
Annie- so much is happening to you at the moment it must be quite overwhelming. Thank goodness it does seem that at last you will be getting the help you have needed for so long.
Memories of your beautiful daughter must bring you so much joy as well as sadness- you had a very special relationship .
Love to allxx

Hi all x

Joyce hugs x

nonnie we have nonnie’s bake off yes ? x

rafichagran I remember you had the fall, so sorry you are in
pain but thank God it isn’t a break x

Piece of useless information - my Catherine was also called Cadi because of our North Wales Family, it was originally Welsh for Catrin and Catherine but is now chosen as a name proper.

Doctor telephoned this morning, blood test fine. Then someone called to assess me and the bungalow, looking more
hopeful for the electric wheelchair . This was followed by a telephone call to say I will be having morning visits to do my
breakfast etc. Then another telephone call - me and my bungalow will be assessed next week by an occupational therapist. If i again say ‘haven’t seen anyone for weeks’ please tell me to shut up and be thankful ?

rafichagran Fri 05-Feb-21 13:17:21

* Thankyou Annie* it is appreciated. Very sad about Catherine, but you must have wonderful memories of her.
I love the name Catherine and if my second child had been a girl it was a name I would have been happy to call her.

Nonnie Fri 05-Feb-21 10:15:57

Doodle did you sleep better last night? Sorry you have been feeling so unwell, hope the improvement continues.

Dustyangel welcome and do join in whenever you feel like it. If you need support you will get it here.

Annie hard days birthdays, big hug. On radio programme a could of days ago someone said that 'at least we don't have to worry about them any more'. I'm glad that helped them but I would far prefer to have any worry.

Sounds all positive with so much support, lots to look forward to. Hope tests come back with some answers.

Joce glad you both had your injections, sometimes I think the symptoms can be down to the stress with the current situation.

Decided to make Anzac biscuits today and send photo to sick friend and ask if I can leave some on her doorstep. Just feel I need to do a little something. Feeling so emotional about so many people, even people I hardly know.

Anniebach Thu 04-Feb-21 22:30:08

Bridie thank you, yes very happy memories x

nonnie do sorry to learn of your friends,I am sure you want to help them but sadly you can’t visit to help them.

Yes you are so right, between end of September and last Saturday I saw two people, physiotherapist and occupational therapist in December. ‘This week I have seen 9 people , my
little dogs are in a tizz , people here everyday. But I am so thankful I am receiving help and support.

Rafichagran I remember you had a fall and you have been in my payers x

Joce345 Thu 04-Feb-21 22:21:59

Annie my thoughts and prayers are with you today xxx

Doodle hope your head is better tonight...

Me and my hubby went for our jab yesterday.. no side effects for me hubby had a bad head, better tonight...

Thinking of you all
Hope you all have a peaceful nights sleep ?

Doodle Thu 04-Feb-21 19:11:21

Hello dustyangel what a nice post. Thank you.
Annie I hope today will bring happy memories of Catherine.
I know, from what you have written, that she loved you very much.
Wow, a lot has been happening for you today. I hope it all results in better care for you and the help you need.
I haven’t been well at all today but am feeling better this evening.
Bridie what a nice post. ?

Bridie22 Thu 04-Feb-21 18:50:53

hope today brings good memories of your lovely daughter Annie, think of you often and I'm happy you are finally getting the support you have needed for so long.flowers

Anniebach Thu 04-Feb-21 17:59:10

Hi all x

dustyangel thank you for your kind words. Anyone who needs support will find it here, no judgement and certainly never - pull yourself together, here is support, encouragement
and understanding,

Doodle sorry you have headache, hope it passes quickly . I haven’t been supportive this week, so much going on, nurse called today blood tests, coming back tomorrow for urine test.
Emergency carer called again today, they don’t do daily visits
but I am very blessed the GP asked them to call everyday until
the Vertigo stops.

Great news, had a telephone call this morning from the
Reablement Team , someone will call tomorrow to assess my
needs, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and trained support workers, regarding equipment, home adaptions etc
so I can remain independent and will have support with arthritis problems and agoraphobia. I hope this will bring the
electric wheelchair sooner.

Would like to say, today is the birthday of my darling Catherine, much sadness but also gratitude that she was my
daughter and for her love.

dustyangel Thu 04-Feb-21 17:28:49

Hello to you all. What a lovely, supportive thread this is. I thought I’d have a quick look in this morning and having decided that I needed to read the whole thread, I have been doing that on and off all day!
Annie I think of you often and say a little prayer for you when I do. From now on I will think of you more and say a bigger prayer. I’m very pleased that at last you are getting the help that you have needed.
Take care everyone, you sound so kind and supportive.smile

Doodle Thu 04-Feb-21 11:43:28

Nonnie so sorry to hear about your friend and her husband and baby. I hope they all feel better soon. Such a worry for them.
I didn’t have a good night. Very achy and a headache. It might be the vaccination although DH has been fine.
Rafichagran so sorry about your fall. Good job nothing is broken but nevertheless the bruising and shock will be something to deal with. Hope you feel better soon.
Joce I read in the paper today that things are getting better. Hope your spirits lift soon.
Annie are you due to have someone visit today?

Nonnie Thu 04-Feb-21 11:28:04

BlueSky that really is a positive. Some seem to send letters and other phone. I prefer the idea of a phone call because that is harder to ignore.

Annie perhaps your brain has gone into overdrive with all the new people to talk with? I thought I had too little sleep but you have made me grateful for what I have.

Doodle good to hear you had the injections, our only reaction was a little tenderness in the site of it.

rafichagran glad the arm isn't broken but it sounds still sore, must make you stressed and limit what you can do.

Joce good to hear from you, hope the lack of something to say isn't a bad sign, could be good or bad.

Struggling a little today, very bad dreams again last night and this morning heard that my friend with all the other things to deal with has now tested positive for CV-19 and so has her partner. Baby is poorly too with a cold and cough. Feel so helpless and wish I could do something for them.

Anniebach Wed 03-Feb-21 23:45:15

We are here for you Joyce x

Joce345 Wed 03-Feb-21 23:33:34

Good evening all, Sorry not got much to say...
But I’m am hear and thinking of you all...

rafichagran Wed 03-Feb-21 18:55:34

Dont worry Doodle Its nice of you to ask after me. I had a very bad fall and have to attend a fracture clinic to see what the damage is.
Its been X rayed and not broken, but they want to check on it.
I am quite down at the moment but it's because I am tired and stressed. It will pass.
Keep well everyone.

Doodle Wed 03-Feb-21 18:48:47

DH and I had our jabs today. Very well organised and no waiting around. Feeling ok so far.
rafichagran I am sorry my memory is not what it was. What is wrong with your arm? I hope it gets better soon.
Nonnie I think lots of lovely snowdrops is a positive.
Hope you are not on a downhill path. Hope you are ok.
Bluesky good you’ve got your jab booked.
I’m sure a dog will bring joy into your lives. How nice of you to consider a rescue dog. Some poor animal will benefit from your kindness.
Annie I can understand how it can be a bit overwhelming having all this action in the last week but I do hope you cope with it and it results in some positive action for you.
How is the UTI, are you feeling any better?
Sleep well all x

Anniebach Wed 03-Feb-21 15:51:42

Hi all x

BlueSky I expected to be notified by letter when I would have the vaccination, I knew 2 people living near me had received letters and had their vaccination, they are in a older
age group to me. Last Friday I received a telephone call from the surgery and was told a nurse would call at my home for it,
I was rather puzzled and surprised, but very relieved.

Yes dogs are a big commitment, I had my first dog when I was in my teens, never been without dogs since , have two now.

I am very tired , only slept about 2 - 3 hours for the last 3 nights and it will be sometime before I can sleep in my bed again. And I have shot from a very quiet life in isolation for 3 years, this week it’s been doctors, carers, neighbours calling
and telephone calls, I feel rather overwhelmed, but it does mean I will be having regular support and this means help with regaining some strength in my leg muscles and planning
how to overcome the agoraphobia

BlueSky Wed 03-Feb-21 13:41:45

Hi all x Well I’ve just be offered the jab at our local surgery where I can walk to! Really pleased, I didn’t hesitate to accept, just a phone call I was expecting a letter or a text. I think we’ll all feel a bit more reassured when we’ve had our vaccinations.
So this is my positive for today.
Annie great that at last you’ll have some long overdue help.
Doodle and Scaredycat yes we are thinking about having a dog and we do like the greyhound/lurcher/whippet breeds. There are a lot of lovely rescue ones we meet on our walks. But still cautious as it is a big commitment, watch this space.
Nanny yes maggots are used again, hard to believe, after they’d be written off as ‘old wives’ tales’ and ‘’dark ages’! Hope your DH will benefit and will soon be fit to come home.
Nonnie I too love the snowdrops, such a humble symbol of hope!
Have a peaceful afternoon x brew
