The secret to a good nights sleep....

For about 10 years a good nights sleep has been a rare pleasure.
I’ve tried OTC tablets, meditation, diet and pillow sprays with varying results.
Finally I think I’ve found the solution in a tea bag!
It’s a well known organic brand that has a night time tea.
I’m sleeping like a log.....just hoping it lasts.
Has anyone else discovered this little bag of magic?

I'd try it if I didn't think herbal tea was like drinking my own bathwater.

Tangerine- not at all old fashioned. Tumeric milk- also known as golden milk, is fantastic just before bed. Lots of recipies on line but I'm happy to post one if wanted.

I have been looking at these weighted blankets for some time now.. what puts me off is the colour! grey,, a bit of a dismal colour for me,

think I will go look again

thanks for this.

Pukka night time - totally brilliant! You can get it via Amazon three boxes at a time.

I tried the Pukka one and didn't like the taste nor find it helpful. However the Twinings sleep tea is much more to my taste and does help a bit.

Clipper Sleep teabags are very good.

I use Pukka night time and I’m dozing off by the end of the cup :-)

Hope shops don’t run out. Many thanks for the tip!!

For anyone wanting to do a trial run before committing to buying a large supply it’s available in boxes of 20 in Asda.

I’ve just started using Bach Flower Remedies (Rescue Night) and it’s working for me. No nasty hangover feeling the next day either smile

I bought some yesterday, I found the taste truly horrible and struggled to get it down, made me feel queasy BUT I did have a good night's sleep!!! To be fair I could have been due a good night after a few really bad ones but I am certainly going to persevere just in case.

After many years of sleeping badly I have found the solution that works for me. Hydration. Whenever I’ve had a long walk and not drunk enough water I sleep badly. If I can’t sleep now it is almost always because I need more water. I’ve told several friends and family members and they have all said their sleep has improved. It may mean a trip to the bathroom during the night but that is better than lying awake watching the clock.
I’ve also found night time tea bags very helpful. However some people are sensitive to valerian and find it gives them nightmares. I had to change brands for this reason. I hope this helps.

My goodness! If only it was that simple.
A watery teabag can actually get you of to sleep.

I don’t think so. Well not for me anyway.

Is this the same thread about sleep problems last week?

Thanks so much for the advice- having dreadful broken sleep for weeks with worries over DD & DGDs moving to France to live in July. Just ordered on Sainsburys, on offer at £2 50 too so a bargan! Sweet slumbers to you all! Zzzzzz

Steady on!
I said similar upthread and it didn't go down too well.
(I did apologise for being a grump - the lack of sleep gets you like that.)

This is the first thread - LadyHonoriaDedlock has since started another one.

I drink golden milk, turmeric, black pepper, honey and, of course, milk.
Failing that CBD capsules.

I've used this in the past, and curiously, it does seem to work.
I find it particularly beneficial when you have lots of intrusive thoughts going round and round and round.
I say 'curiously' as I'm usually in favour of the hard stuff - last night it was Nightnurse and a codeine blush

GrannyfromWilmslow Sun 24-Jan-21 11:22:18

It certainly is magic. Bought some yesterday, put it on my bedside table and fell asleep before I could drink it. Had my first good sleep in years!

Sashabel Sun 24-Jan-21 11:26:58

After reading this thread, I ordered a box of Pukka Night Time tea bags from Tesco's. I have had huge problems with sleep for a number of years which have increased since lockdown and I was not very hopeful that my insomnia would be helped by a mere tea bag. How wrong I was. The first night I used just one tea bag and didn't notice much of an improvement, but since then I have made a cuppa using 2 bags (and a little sugar to improve the taste) and I've been sleeping like a log. I was getting a bit worried about being so reliant on sleeping pills, so I am really pleased that I can now leave them in the cupboard and I will continue with the tea. Thanks to Missfoodlove for bringing these tea bags to my attention

Missfoodlove Sun 24-Jan-21 11:40:00

Fantastic so pleased this has had a positive outcome for some of you.

To the doubters..... what harm could it do? ?

Happysexagenarian Sun 24-Jan-21 11:40:35

I bought the Pukka Night Time teas for DH and we both tried them for the first time last night. He was not impressed with the taste, though I would say it had very little flavour really but it did smell nice. We drank them about 10pm and went to bed at 12.30. I did feel more relaxed settling down to sleep but then had to get up about 4.30-ish for the loo because I'd drunk the tea! I then fell into a deep sleep and didn't wake up till 10.30! DH still got up twice in the night as he usually does. If I can't sleep well it's usually because I'm mulling over ideas and plans and my mind just keeps 'thinking', not because I'm worrying about something. I find it very difficult to make my mind go blank. We'll persevere with the Pukka teas and see what happens, well I will anyway.

Has anybody tried two Pukka bags in a mug for a stronger flavour?

Happysexagenarian Sun 24-Jan-21 11:42:46

Thank you Sashabel you've just answered my question. I'll try that.

I have had various night time teas and definitely think they work . I bought my daughter a latte from a will know organic herbal label which is very very good. Another friend has started to body brush every evening and swears by that. I recently had a good 4 / 5 nights of bad sleep and I felt quite low. I take my sleep very seriously.
Any other recommendations would be gratefully received.

Alieshort Sun 24-Jan-21 11:45:01

Hi. I’m new to this group but thought you might like to hear about a tea I’ve tried. It’s Celestial Seasonings Sleeptime teabags. There is the normal sleepytime and sleepytime extra. Both these can be found on EBay or Amazon. Shop around for cheaper prices.

SCB64 Sun 24-Jan-21 11:46:05

Sadly girls Pukka NT us not a miracle cure; I’ve been having it for years.
So many other things affect our sleep. Probably the main one is a brain that won’t turn off ! Too much stuff whirring around, screen time for too long in the evening, not enough proper exercise, eating too late, being too hot or too cold, hormones...need I go on? ??‍♀️
