The secret to a good nights sleep....

For about 10 years a good nights sleep has been a rare pleasure.
I’ve tried OTC tablets, meditation, diet and pillow sprays with varying results.
Finally I think I’ve found the solution in a tea bag!
It’s a well known organic brand that has a night time tea.
I’m sleeping like a log.....just hoping it lasts.
Has anyone else discovered this little bag of magic?

I'll try anything, so far I've tried Nytol, something called "Sleepy" a product bought in Lush, a pillow spray named "This Works", it didn't! lavender oil on pillow, CBD Oil for sleep inducement, all without success. I would absolutely love to go all though the night again.

Thank you Missfoodlove. Can’t wait to try it.

It's not getting to sleep, it's staying asleep I have a problem with. Even when I do sleep, my deep sleep is minimal until the morning when nothing in the world would wake me. I think I need to move to the other side of the world!

I know camomile is supposed to be soothing at bedtime, and peppermint tea is good for the digestion. I can never decide which to have, so bung a tea bag of both of them in a mug as my night time tipple! Moreorless works for me, but I've been doing that for years - so I might try the Pukka one for a few weeks to surprise my innards!! Why don't we all report back in a few weeks and see what's worked for us all

I have a allergy tablet before bed, I do get occasional allergies so I tell myself it’s ok. I drift off about 12.30 or 1.00am. I’m going to try the tea, thanks for the tip.

A relative in the States sent me melatonin. I seem to have mixed results with it, eg last night I was extremely disturbed with vivid dreams. However lots of people swear by it. Kalms don’t work for me at all. The postman has just this minute delivered magnesium gel which you rub on your joints and soles of feet -it is supposed to give you a good sleep, so I’m looking forward to trying that tonight. I’ll also get the Pukka tea snd try it...

lolarabbit. I have just this morning bought a box of Pukka Night time.
I can't bear liquorice in any shape or form, but I can confirm there is no taste of it at all.
Just don't ask me whether I like it?

Saggi Mon 18-Jan-21 13:38:41

Yes.... my youngest brother ...one year older than me ( I’m youngest)...and there’s an older brother and sister . When he came along my sister says he took pride of place in both parents affections . I turned up just a year later and was certainly unexpected and not wanted!! But for all that we knew he was the ONE....my parents never treated us any differently ...well mostly not. Anyway we don’t resent him for it , even though when mum and dad were poorly and at the end of life scenario...he was the only one who never lifted a finger. He’s always been selfish but we blame our parents , not him.

Defo have to try Missfoodlove. Tried all sorts, but it's my night sweats that are my big problem, as soon as I sit on the edge of the bed they begin. I check my bedside clock all night long waiting for morning. I get told I look tired all the time and I bloomin well am. I'm going to have to go and buy Pukka night time and hope they help.

I have the same peeing problem Lucca every night at least once but usually up three or four times. I only drink water apart from one G & T or a Bailey's. I am currently cutting down on sugar, choc etc in case this is a precursor to diabetes. I find it difficult to get back to sleep each time.

lolarabbit Mon 18-Jan-21 12:41:01

Can anyone who's tried the Pukka Night time tell me if it has a licorice taste at all please? I'm keen to try but I noticed that licorice root is listed as one of the ingredients and I really don't like the taste of it. Thanks

Thanks for the tip MissFoodlove, I've ordered a pack. From the responses on here you ought to be getting commission ?

I find antihistamines make me feel quite rotten, so I lay awake feeling more rotten than usual.

Theoddbird Mon 18-Jan-21 12:22:06

I found that when I take an antihistamine for my allergies I sleep very well. Also reading for half an hour helps.

A weighted blanket. In winter I just put it on top of the duvet, if it’s warm I just sleep under it directly. Magical. Really worth investing in a good one as the cheap ones fall apart and can’t be washed. Mine is fluffy and antipodean!

The secret to a good nights sleep? Have tried all sorts.
Number one is zopiclone
Number two is phenerghan 10 mg ( 25 mgs leaves a bitter/metallic taste).
These are both guaranteed, but I try to do without if I can though this means a very disturbed night; I wake more tired than when i went to bed.
Luckily I dont have to get up for work so sleep in most of the morning.

Jellybean345 Mon 18-Jan-21 11:58:26

This works for me .I choose a letter of the alphabet then think of many boys or girls names as I can .Then I try to put them in alphabetical order .Away before I reach L !?
Try to remember them in the morning so can continue the next night but most of time have to start again!

MayBee70 Mon 18-Jan-21 11:51:07

Well, I tried one last night and I did get off to sleep quite quickly. Annoyingly I’ve only got two more left. Even more annoying was that the dog needed to go out in the early hours for a wee. I did combine it with listening to Bob Ross as well: his programmes usually get me to sleep in 10 minutes.

NM1568 Mon 18-Jan-21 11:50:17

Struggled for years, tried and bought everything from pills and potions , aromatherapy, mindfulness, yoga, spent a fortune on acupuncture and reflexology , even zopiclone 7.5mg doesn’t knock me out. I found out a few years ago I have difficulty being knocked out with anaesthetic too. I’m beyond help ?. I’d give my right arm for a solid 3 hrs never mind 8 hrs . It doesn’t help matters when your DH says ‘well if you’re that tired you should be able to sleep!!’

Good luck to all , if I find a cure I’ll certainly let you know ?

Mohum Mon 18-Jan-21 11:43:55

I've always avoided tea in the evening but one night had a cup about 10pm and slept through which I never normally do.

TrendyNannie6 Mon 18-Jan-21 11:42:11

Aww fannycornforth bless you, it must be horrible when you can’t sleep.

Madwoman11 Mon 18-Jan-21 11:42:11

Thank you Missfoodlove just what I need, and now on my delivery order. ?

kangaroo73 Mon 18-Jan-21 11:41:39

I’ve just started Bach flower remedy which has worked so far

Nannylove Mon 18-Jan-21 11:37:34

My favourite way of getting to sleep is to mentally describe someone I know or don’t know ie relative, movie star, rock star etc., from top to bottom in detail. I start with hair colour and style and the nose, mouth and so on. I rarely get past the chest as I fall asleep. I usually describe their clothing too as the details keep my mind off not sleeping and any worries I have. It works for me after years of doing it. It is hard at first not to let your mind wander but you can get used to it.
