Annie we are off early in the morning. I will be waving at you and thinking of you when we stop in Wales and go to Snowdon.
Nonnie DH and I have both had kidney stones. Not something I’d like to go through again. Drink lots of water is the best advice.
I seem to remember my mum’s gallstones and being a grey colour with green round the outside.
I will of course be thinking about you all. The BDG is very much part of my life. ?
Bluesky sorry your are feeling a bit poorly, I remember my mum always used to feed me soup when I felt ill. What is it about soup that brings to mind comfort. I do hope you feel better soon.
I did wonder about what sort of cream you could have that worked for stones

Ice cream NOT cream of course!

Hi all x I’m now feeling under the weather, nothing specific, not too fussy on eating, just soups, I’ve cream and similar. I’ve had this a couple of times the last few years and always put it down to ‘viral’. Now of course I wonder if it’s to do with the stones perhaps ‘grumbling’. I was shocked when told about them as you think of the nasty colics but apparently most are silent. Well the blood tests should shed some more light and the scan end of the month. All will be revealed. Then I need to keep checking my bp as my doctor said to take the water tablet again if the bp goes up, while the locum said to wait for further blood test! Anyway enough of me, thanks everybody for your advice and concern.

What d o they do for gallstones now? I am sure it would be reassuring for Bluesky to know. Do they somehow zap them?

BlueSky I hope the blood tests find something which is easily treatable.

I've been thinking about your gallstones and wonder if they will need removing. Sometime ago I had a body scan and they discovered I have kidney stones but they didn't need treatment and I haven't had any symptoms. Just wondering if they might be something a lot of us have and don't know about. The really bad pain comes when a big stone passes through the bile duct and then you cannot do anything, it really is a very disabling pain. Just giving you my thoughts. I really hope your stomach issues turn out to be something much less serious.

Doodle I still have my gallstones in a glass bottle!! Apparently some are really pretty and colourful, mine just look like gravel.

Yes, take meds for one thing and they affect something else. Trying to get that through to DH because, imo, GPs dish them out willy nilly.

Today I put on a nice skirt and blouse, instead of the usual jeans. Why not? All I'm doing today is answering email and a little light housework.

Evening all. Just been on my knees packing. Nearly had to stay there as I couldn’t get up !
Scaredycat thank you. My brother was a lot older than me, my SIL too. They both had a good life but sadly my brother developed Alzheimer’s in his last few years which was very hard to see happening to such a lovely and clever man.
I will try and keep in touch from the seas but a lot depends on the wi fi connection. I will be thinking of you all. Please take care and look after yourselves x

BlueSky- sometimes water tablets can deplete your electrolytes such as sodium. You should be ok if you stop them. I do hope you feel better soon.
I think you might like a cruise it is such a relaxing holiday. We came to cruising later in life and really love it. So great to wake up every day in a new place and no driving involved!!
Ellie Anne so sorry you lost your sister- you must miss her greatly. I hope you are ok today.
Nonnie- I,m like you I avoid confrontation at all costs- it frightens me. Your thoughts on concentrating on the things you can control sound very positive- I will try to do that too.
Doodle- I,m sorry you lost your brother and SiL not really so long ago. Your tale of the video recording reminded me of our honeymoon. We took loads of photos with an empty camera!! Hope you have a great holiday - one more day!!

Bluesky fortunately DH and I both enjoy cruising. Not with loads of people. Just quiet ones with the other elderly folks ?
Perhaps you should let your DH book one. Maybe a river cruise somewhere, that could be quite peaceful.
That’s the trouble with medicines isn’t it? You take a tablet for one thing and it upsets something else.
Nonnie I have heard that about gall stones too. My mum had them when I was young and I remember going to see her in hospital and she had her stones in a glass jar by the bed. ?
Fortunately being of a certain age now I find I care less about what others think (with the exception of my family) . One video of me which causes roars of laughter from all the family is me trying to have a go on my granddaughter’s trampoline. My DIL nearly collapsed with laughter, ?

BlueSky you sound very low, usually you try to be more upbeat. When I had them it wasn't stomach pains, it was referred pain up my back. They say that gallstones are one of the 3 worst pains you can have so I hope they get it sorted soon. Try not to eat fats in the meantime as I think that is supposed to help.

Annie another thing we have in common! These days I think they take them out by microsurgery. I have a massive scar.

Doodle I am fortunate that I cope as an adult, my sister didn't she was bitter until the day she died. I am fortunate that there is only one such person in my life now and I have come to accept that I cannot do anything about it apart from pray that she can become a happier person for her own benefit. In many ways I am very blessed.

Hi all x Well doctors yesterday not my usual one but beggers can’t be choosers. So more blood tests, bruised my arm badly when my usual nurse does a lovely job. Advised stopping water tablet altogether as my sodium is low, but now worried my bp will shoot up. Gave me Gaviscon Advance for quesy stomach but knowing I’ve got stones I put it down to that.
Annie belated birthday wishes for yesterday! Thank goodness for modern technology.
Doodle so you are off on your cruise! I mentioned it to DH and of course he’s enthusiastic, he want to book one too! Have a great time.

That’s a shame Ellie Anne. My brother died in 2018 and my lovely SIL the following year. It really sounds as though you could do with making some friends of your own or volunteering somewhere to get you out of the house for a while. I hope you’ve had a better day today.

How is everyone today?

I’ve been busy tidying. Ironing (where does all the ironing come from). I was trying out my new video recorder in the park today. It has various settings and I was trying to find the best one so I was running (!) round with it and jumping about . DH was standing there laughing at me. He said if only the DGC could see you now. When I thought I’d given it a good test I turned it off till we got home.
When I checked I found id had it set on photo mode not video so all that running around was for nothing ?

Doodle my children have seen it but only a couple of times.
My father was very controlling in a quiet way. When he got old he wanted to move in with me or my sister. We both refused because we knew we couldn’t cope with it. He was still quite fit so didn’t need care. But I suffered dreadful emotional blackmail. Horrible letters. Got no support from husband. But the fear of men is still there.

Ellie Anne I have never had anyone in my life who was violent so no experience of what you have been through. No wonder you are so frightened. Verbal aggression is still violence in a way. Do your children see this side of their father?
Welcome Jill and thank you for posting a link to a book you found helpful. My DGS is autistic (or has ASD) not sure what the current terminology is. Life has been really hard for him and I imagine for you too.
Nonnie there are remedied for sea sickness that you can take for cruises. It’s not as bad as you might think.
I suppose regarding the crowds a lot depends on what sort of cruise you go in and who with. We go with Saga and crowds aren’t an issue.
I am sorry you too had a violent father. I can’t imagine how hard that must be on a child.
Annie how are you today? Have you been able to go into the garden to look at your plants yet?
Bluesky do discuss all your worried with the doctor. Perhaps write a list before hand so you don’t forget anything.
I can understand your DH not wanting to see you ill but it’s best to get all these things dealt with. Hope your consultation goes well.

Annie no luckily no severe pain just a stomach upset feeling. I must have had them ages but never took much notice, then they were discovered when they did an ultrasound for other reasons. Tomorrow I’ll be able to see a ‘real’ doctor and I’ll tell him all the niggling problems. My BP seems up and down like a yo-yo so that’s no good either. DH hates seeing me with problems, I guess because luckily I’ve been in good health all these years. The scan will be end of the month x
