Is there one rule for us and one for them?
How can he say, with a straight face that he is not isolating?
I can imagine people up and down the land choking on their breakfast. The audacity! This could lead to real social unrest.
He could pass this on to anyone who works at No10. Has he no common sense or decency?
I cannot believe when I read that he is so popular. Why?

He does not have COVID as far as I know. He is double jabbed and has had it in the past so is less likely to develop the disease.
The sand in the ointment is that he was trying to wriggle out of self isolation by signing up to the pilot scheme, but as the other minister decided that that would not set a good example, he blunderingly changed his mind and then backed it up saying that he thought that we should all be on the same page, what a hypocrite! How on earth can he still be the PM is beyond me.

Years ago when Denmark originally joined what was then the common market we did so after a long campaign and voting sessions.

A politician who had throughout the campaign been against joining, turned round after the voting session and said he had voted to join.

At the time most people in this country found his behaviour totally dishonest. His own explanation was "Well, you have a point of view until you change it"

This fatuous excuse seems since then to have become a tenet that politicians everywhere are living by!

How is it possible that people can believe something so strongly in the face of all evidence?

Oh, how long have you got MoorlandMooner? sad

Torre Mon 19-Jul-21 10:42:29

Ummm…….

Johnson has carefully cultivated his act, jolly fellow well met persona, he’s a scheming self interested power hungry man no scruples, he lies continually, untrustworthy and shallow, I find it hard t understand his popularity.

mistymitts Mon 19-Jul-21 10:43:35

@Ladyleftfieldlover, yes, you can most certainly get COVID more than once.

Lolee Mon 19-Jul-21 10:45:32

Unless you're privy to BJ's medical records, he hasn't contracted Covid-19 again. He just came into close contact with S. Javid and is isolating.

I voted for them but never ever again.......one fiasco after another....one u turn after another...
Totally arrogant all of them with one rule for them and another for the peasants....

I am grateful to the people who quoted the three seives principle - am regretful that I'd not heard of it (and ask myself why I hadn't?) But its great and I will use it. For those who like me didn't know it, I think it says, when you want to tell someone something about another person, first ask yourself if you really can be sure its true, then ask if is it something good about the person, and last, is it necessary to tell someone about it. I hope I've got that right. I am thinking that sometimes you recognise that you are not telling something good about the person, but over rule that test, because you believe it is necessary to pass on your information. For instance, you might be sure that someone had been violent to others, so its true, and it passes the first 'sieve' , while it fails the second test because you are not planning to tell something good about the person. However, you tell it anyway because it is necessary - to protect someone else from possisble violence.

He doesn’t have COVID, he was in contact with the health secretary who does and he is isolating at chequers, which is where he was when he found out, keep up

I love the Circus we call Parliament, give me our bunch of corrupt clowns over any Banana Republic monkey business.

Tergly Mon 19-Jul-21 10:55:01

The husband of a work colleague had Covid, then had both his vaccs and now has Covid again

DaisyL Mon 19-Jul-21 10:55:29

Isn't self-isolation being stopped for people who have been double vaccinated on 16th August? Was Boris actually contacted directly or 'pinged' - if you are pinged I think you are advised to self-isolate but it is not compulsory. I'm not Boris's biggest fan but he is in an invidious position - damned whatever does. Funny how when we support someone they can change their mind after due consideration but if we don't approve of them they. Are criticised for making a U turn!

narrowboatnan Mon 19-Jul-21 10:56:21

Gosh! How very fortunate that both the PM and the Chancellor got picked to take part in the No Isolation if You Take a Daily Test trial! But wait - seems they've both declined to take part and are going to self isolate after all!

Anyone know if their places on the trial have gone to another lucky person?

Theoddbird Mon 19-Jul-21 10:58:38

I get sick and tired of people posting things on here without checking the facts. It is becoming like The Mirror or The Sun. This is getting as bad as social media. Also do 'them in charge' not check things before they publish posts?

orly Mon 19-Jul-21 10:58:41

He's not got Covid - he's been pinged by the NHS Track and Trace app and many more will also be pinged as the number of cases continues to rise. He can still work in Number 10 though. Would you have wanted to Churchill to take time off is he thought he had a cold while Hitler was bombing the hell out of London?

He isn’t at No10. Between being pinged and traced he managed to travel to his country pad to self isolate….

Johnson's behaviour is reprehensible. He has displayed continually that no rules, or laws, apply to him and by association his government. Nor does anyone have the right or ability to hold him to account, as he refuses to answer questions about his and his ministers behaviours and when challenged by the courts, threatens to change the laws and the power of the courts. Very much following Putin's playbook.

Blackcat3 Mon 19-Jul-21 11:04:02

Yes he is…and rightly so……let’s face it we will either all be isolating or in lockdown soon…..!

Stillcrazy Mon 19-Jul-21 11:04:47

Seems to have done ( yet another) U turn and us now self isolating, but why he ever thought he didn’t need to is way beyond me!! Not exactly “leading from the top”

DebbieDevon Mon 19-Jul-21 11:07:33

Not replied on here before but had to when I saw this headline. I wish people would do a bit of research before believing what they read or pick up. Boris has not got Covid.

Funny how many comments on here just believe it. Social media has got a lot to answer for. Silly U-turn but yes he is self isolating after being pinged.

Shame you can’t edit your comment to be more accurate. We are all weary enough of this situation, let alone silly headlines like this. And silly U-turns.

Alegrias1 Mon 19-Jul-21 11:08:28

Good post DebbieDevon.

Alioop Mon 19-Jul-21 11:09:24

I give up, what is the damn point of all this hokey cokey. No wonder none of us know what on earth we are doing.

Alegrias1 Mon 19-Jul-21 11:12:56

Many of us know what we're doing. The ones who pay attention and don't believe what we read in the tabloids or on social media without a bit of critical thought.

Never allow the truth to get in the way of a rant.
