That's it, really. Where do you keep it? Are eg paracetamol and Gaviscon included? Just OTC things, or prescribed medicines/creams etc? I know there must be better ways of organising these things than mine.

I couldn’t even begin to list what’s in my medicine boxes. There’s a large plastic box in the kitchen cupboard.
A large cardboard box under the bed.
A sea grass box on top of the wardrobe holds my prescribed medications.
There’s stuff used daily in my bedside cabinet and the bathroom cabinet.
Dh’s prescribed medications in his wardrobe.
I know exactly what’s where

And some antihistamine cream.

Amberone Tue 31-Aug-21 16:55:59

A small basket at the top of a cupboard in the kitchen. Just some plasters (usually used by me for rubbed heels and broken finger nails), some paracetamol bought when lockdown started, some Anadin (probably out of date now). Oh, and some dried up throat lozenges. Neither of us takes any regular medicine apart from hayfever stuff which is in the bedroom. When there were children around there was probably a bit more.

Husband did a First Aid course years ago and came away with one of those big red cases. Contains mainly dressings. and scissors. We've also bought some of those expensive silicone dressings which are very good if you've got thin skin likr me.
What do you use for antiseptic?. we have betadine, which stains. And TCP.
Also gentian violet which I got in France - I don't think you can get it here now.

Everything in the Mothercare baby box that was bought for us by a friend 39 years ago! Plasters, antiseptic cream, bandages, cough and cold remedies, Gaviscon. Everything other than prescription medicines which are kept at the top of a very high cupboard out of reach of GC!

JaneJudge Mon 30-Aug-21 11:50:44

we have a whole kitchen cupboard full of stuff. I need to go through it really

Hetty58 Mon 30-Aug-21 11:49:46

Just a tin with kid's plasters and antiseptic wound spray, that's it, kept in a kitchen drawer. It comes in handy when they get scraped knees etc. I cut my finger and had to use a 'Hello Kitty' one!

BigBertha1 Sat 28-Aug-21 22:06:27

I bought mine n Boots and f we use something I replace it. I do not keep any medications in it.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 28-Aug-21 18:45:58

I have a cupboard in my utility room with First Aid bits and pieces. Plasters, bandages, savlon, painkillers, slings ... I keep my prescription medicines in my bedroom as does OH. We each have First Aid kits in our cars too. Bought from Boots I think.

NotSpaghetti Sat 28-Aug-21 18:34:26

Sorry, just noticed "where do you keep it?" - under the stairs - easily grabable in an emergency. Also the same in each car.

Other basics (not first aid) in a different tin. That's the "non-emergency" but useful stuff with other things in it such as swim plasters, hydrocolloid dressings, wrist supports and "moleskin" etc.
All drugs not needed on a daily basis are in yet another tin (zovirax, paracetamol, antihistamines etc). Sounds bonkers written down but actually works. I've kept it roughly like this since the children were small.. though obviously no hydrocolloid dressings or coban tape then!

toscalily Sat 28-Aug-21 18:27:49

Yes, in answer to your question but why have you posted this twice, in Health & in House & Home?

TillyTrotter Sat 28-Aug-21 18:26:22

We have a lockable bathroom wall cabinet downstairs with non-prescription medicines like Gaviscon, plasters and bandages so yes, I’d say we do have one.

NotSpaghetti Sat 28-Aug-21 18:24:44

Yes.
Triangular bandage, gloves, safety pins, plasters, melolin and micropore, coban tape, antiseptic, sterile water pods, large sterile dressings, medium sterile dressings, absorbent pads, butterfly clips, Aspirin, scissors... maybe other things...

I think this thread has been duplicated or there are 2 independent threads on the same subject…..

grandMattie Sat 28-Aug-21 17:59:01

Not per se. I have all the necessary in my en suite.
I do make one up for when we go away - bandages, pressure tubes, anti diarrhoea, paracetamol, plasters, etc. …

Shandy57 Sat 28-Aug-21 17:58:49

I haven't got a bathroom cabinet for my first aid kit, and it's all in big plastic crate at the moment.

I do have tweezers (in case of bee stings), nail clippers (bent back nail), plasters, germolene, eyewash and paracetomol in the kitchen drawer. Not sure where the piriton is at the moment! I moved house and didn't take any first aid items, nearly broke my toe the first night, blood everywhere!

Kim19 Sat 28-Aug-21 17:56:47

In appropriate and handy places. Never been a problem thus far.

J52 Sat 28-Aug-21 17:53:08

First Aid kit with bandages etc. in the box it was bought in located in the larder. Medication, cough syrup etc. In a kitchen cupboard on a very high shelf.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 28-Aug-21 17:31:04

Yes, it's in a little zip-up bag in the downstairs loo. It contains bandages, antiseptic cream and the like.

Painkillers, indigestion remedies and cough syrup, etc are in a kitchen cupboard.
