If you haven't had a letter or text about them, I would ring the surgery.

Kali I tried to organise this for my husband (at the time of the first one).
It seemed virtually impossible, and seemed to rely upon you having a District Nurse (I’m terribly sorry- I can’t for the life of me think what they are called now!)
I then heard from the GP that one Saturday morning, HCPs went to various people’s houses to do vaccines, but it was too late for him.
I’m sure that it differs wildly from GP surgery to GP surgery, let alone place to place

Thanks Fanny- am wondering because a home visit jab would take about 15 mins + travelling time, during which lots of others could be 'done'. So was wondering what criterias were. I'd imagine it would be cheaper to arrange for taxi pick up.

Our GP practice said they weren’t doing this anymore. We had to take my mother aged 101 to a local pharmacy. Quite a performance. She lives on an estate of sheltered housing so I don’t know what everyone else did, especially those with no family to help them.

My daughter-in-law’s parents had the flu and covid booster vaccinations at the same time, one in each arm.

Some of my clients have said the local pharmacy is doing this.

Kali home visits are made for vulnerable patients, who are unable to get to a surgery or hub.
Multicolouredswapshop, have you phoned the Scottish vaccine helpline? Just make sure you choose the correct option, when you call. I noticed that more options have been added in the last week.

It’s very difficult to give the Pfizer booster jab to people in their own homes because of the storage and reconstitution requirements, as it has to be stored in a deep frozen state. District nurses are therefore unable to administer the booster to people in their own homes as they did with the AZ vaccine. Housebound patients who are completely unable to get to a vaccination centre will get it at home, but at a much slower rate than the original doses were rolled out because of these issues, many areas are organising specific vaccination days with a van being hired to keep the doses at the correct temperature, but it’s a slow process.
Flu jabs are routinely given to housebound patients in their own homes, although there have been some supply problems this year. If you aren’t classed as housebound you should be contacted by your GP surgery to go for your vaccination there.

I don’t think you will get very far just waiting multicoloured I think you have to be proactive and ring or go on the Internet Have you got anyone who could help you ?

I had been trying for weeks to organise a third primary in Scotland, despite hearing off less vulnerable peers getting boosters.
However, things seemed to have changed in the last week and staff seemed to have more up to date information. The man I spoke to was so helpful.
What about asking your husband or daughter to phone for you, MCSS?

A friend was waiting ages for his vaccination but apparently the surgery had to have a certain number on the list for home vaccination visits.

I'm sure someone has arrived to do yours now, multicolourswapshop if not they will soon if you have an appointment.

But some people are unable to get out of the house even if transport is available.

It is more efficient for the nurse to visit several housebound people on one day than to try to get them out of their houses to the surgery even if transport is available.

Yes, of course, I think the booster is Pfizer.

This was 1st and 2nd vaccinations which were Astra Zeneca

That seems to be the problem in my area.

Having phoned my local surgery I was told it’s nothing to do with them it’s now in the hands of the nhs. They’ve got me down for a home visit I must try and get the nhs number but I thought I would get a letter or a phone call. I’m not totally housebound I can occasionally get out and about. But thank you everyone for your comments.

District nurses will only visit you at home if you are totally housebound. If you do go out occasionally then you should go to a vaccination centre near you. Apply online for an appointment or ask a relative/friend to book yours online.

I am in Wales and classed as Clinically Extremely Vunerable, shielding for well over a year. I had my first vaccine in the January, second in April, done by the surgery. When it came to the booster, I heard nothing. My husband (over 70) had his second jab, the same day as myself. So when his booster letter arrived and mine didn’t I telephoned the number on the letter. Major problems getting the clerk to give me a date as she said that I wasn’t due. I eventually did have a date for the following week but no letter. It seems to me that the CEV were omitted from the equation, you must follow up yourself or get a family member to do it for you.
