I’m waiting every morning in trepidation fo the nurse to come give m3 my 2 remains vaccines. Everyone in this house has had there’s. When do you think they’ll turn up?

Gosh, what a lot of deleted posts.
My mother is 94. She lives in a care home now. She hasn’t had either the flu or booster vaccination. She wasn’t eligible for the booster when the nurse visited her care home, because she wasn’t six months past her last vaccination. She didn’t get either. She then moved care homes, and they’ve already been done. Despite asking several times, she still hasn’t received either vaccine. What to do?

There should be a GP surgery responsible for the care home, maddyone, hope you get a result.

For those on England, who'd like to find walk-in boosters - without needing an appointment:

(It must be at least 182 days since your 2nd dose.)

I'd ask to speak to the Manager or Nursing Manager, and discuss the urgency. And also your mum's GP- is she still in the Practice Area. If she is, you could ask if the Practice Nurse could come and do both.

Nothing as far as I know and GNHQ haven't told me so I don't know what to avoid saying in future hmm

FannyCornforth Wed 17-Nov-21 10:44:03

Ooh what did you do, you bad bottle brush, you?!

Calistemon Wed 17-Nov-21 10:37:59

Well, that was quick!

My post was not at all against guidelines. Perhaps GNHQ would care to clarify exactly how, so that I can avoid such remarks in future.

I merely pointed out that some posters may know each other in RL.
GN has also, in the past, been a place where virtual friendships could be made which could be of great comfort to those who are housebound.

It’s not just in the wider community where there’s a disconnect.
I went to have my B12 injection, while there I asked for my flu jab.
Receptionist sorry, we haven’t got any
Me. can you put me on the list

Went into have my B12 and mentioned this to the nurse.
She looked at me with surprise and then opened a cupboard to show me their stock of flu vaccines. ?

Merylstreep I asked not to have my Covid booster and flu jab at the same time.
Both or neither was the answer and dire warnings that I would have to wait weeks (months) for the flu jab - about three days later the receptionist phoned and asked me to go for the flu jab.
As for the booster, I think I've been put on the norty step at the end of the list.

multicolourswapshop glad you're ok - who'd have thought such an innocent question would result in so many deletions! Mine included ?

Hope the nurse arrives to give you your 3rd vaccine soon

The root of the problem is that there are so many vulnerable and/or frail or elderly people and so many categories and age groups whose needs have to be balanced. That has been always been true of a health service whose aim is to be all things to all the population and yet remain free at the point of use, but it has been thrown into stark visibility with the international emergency represented by CoVid.

It is all very well suggesting booking elsewhere, but duplicating your place on the list only makes that list longer and adds to the admin task of keeping it up to date and everyone informe. That ensures that others have to wait even longer for their turn, and as usual the squeaky wheel gets the oil before the three that just get on with keeping the cart on the road.

Incidentally, when was it decreed that our friends couldn't include mere "people on a forum, sharing information." ? Gransnet has been a source of many friendships for many people over more than ten years.

Thank you Michael for your prompt action.

Hi all. We've removed a few guideline breaking posts in this thread - and a few that just weren't in the spirit of GN. Hopefully things can get back on track now.

BTW by schoolchildren I meant only 12-16 years old

TillyTrotter Wed 17-Nov-21 08:54:51

In our area the Nhs Covid scheme is changing almost weekly. The days at the Vacc. Centres are now split up in time slots for different cohorts by age - adults/ schoolchildren, whether they are due Jabs 1, 2 or booster, and now young people have slots too who may have missed out when a team came to their school.
It will take a while to get 12-15 years olds vaccinated even if they are willing as understandably they cannot have symptoms of Covid, have confirmed Covid, or are self-isolating.

OH has been part of a vaccination team going into the schools and the long list of patients they have when they set off for a school can be greatly reduced by the end of a day due to all reasons mentioned above.

I don't believe the 'not eligible, already booked in' comment that Flossiebo received. I would try to book elsewhere.

The problem is that staff only understand their own part of the system (that's if you're lucky) and haven't a clue about the national scheme - along with a lot of the public.

Hello everyone no need to get in a tizzy about whether or not I’ll get a home visit. There are various reasons why I’m on the home visit list. I’m just waiting patiently and as a dear friend said I’ll not be missed out I’ll just have to wait my turn. The NHS are so very busy at the moment. Love to all. flowers
