Hello, I wonder if any one is suffering with this ailment. I am eighty. Have been treated at a variety of hospitals over a period of ten years. First surgery carried out in 2003. Am between a rock and a hard place. Can have a colostomy at a private BMI hospital for £25,000, or wait indefinitely on the NHS waiting list with no date for the foreseeable. Every day is a challenge. I appreciate that there are countless people far worse off than I am. I would however be most grateful of any first hand information that can help me to manage this dire situation. Thank you.

More hugs for you today soop?. Just so you know you’re not forgotten.

soop Thu 25-Nov-21 16:30:58

Germanshepherdsmum, every hug matters. Thank you.

Today has been a very difficult day. I have spent more time in the bathroom than elsewhere in our home.

Mr Soop phoned a tech savvy pal in the village. He has kindly agreed to call in to take us through the crowdfunding system. I shall keep you posted.

TillyTrotter Thu 25-Nov-21 16:35:45

A gentle hug for you soop.
I hope you get the crowd-funding going soon; this “drop-bot”beast needs to be taken by the horns now and action taken a.s.a.p.
I wish you well ?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 25-Nov-21 18:13:47

So sorry to hear that soop. I’m sure you’re counting the days, as am I. Fifteen now I think? KBO dear friend, knowing we are all thinking of you and wishing you well again. x

Just popping in to see how everyone is. we are really busy at the moment but I am keeping an eye.

soop, your attitude is phenomenal!!

kittylester Thu 25-Nov-21 20:34:33

That was meant for the kitchen but the sentiment is the same.

I retired 7 years ago so am not up to date with funding issues in medicine. However I wonder if you contact the head of the Clinical Commisioning Group and ask if your case can be discussed. Perhaps you can discuss it with your GP. Certain expensive drugs are discussed , often for cancer treatment. I don't know whether it would be the right place to discuss availability of operations that are not available locally on the NHS and whether they would fund a private op.

smile flowers Thank you.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 26-Nov-21 17:19:27

Another day nearer your appointment soop. I hope today has been better than yesterday.?

Aldom Fri 26-Nov-21 18:28:17

Dear Soop I hope you are able to follow up the advice given by MOMB. It really would be wonderful if the Clinical Commissioning Group could help you.
Hoping you are a little more comfortable. Holding you in my thoughts. flowers

soop Sat 27-Nov-21 15:55:40

mumofmadboys I shall do as you suggest. Thank you.

We are eagerly awaiting a visit from our pal who can open a crowdfunding site for us. We have had generous offers of help from family and our friends in the village. We will not therefore need to ask for the original sum. £10, 000 less in fact. smile

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 27-Nov-21 16:23:37

That’s wonderful news soop. Very encouraging.?

soop Sat 27-Nov-21 17:01:42

WONDERFUL, kind Gransnetters. You lift my spirits. Our pal will visit tomorrow. We can then (hopefully) get the funding underway. I have never, at any time in my life, asked for help. To do so now is the best hope that I have had of a resolution. THANK you from the bottom (of my heart.)

ixion Sun 28-Nov-21 13:50:33

Where do I sign, Soop ? ?

TillyTrotter Sun 28-Nov-21 14:24:04

Wholeheartedly supporting you soop (with warm thoughts - and a donation when the crowdfunding is set up) ?
