Has anybody else tried turmeric supplements or homemade paste for aches & pains? I’m finding taking capsules is having quite a positive effect - or is that a placebo effect (who cares if it works!) ?

I don't know, Maisie.

I use this one, which has other spices, but I think it's just ordinary turmeric that's in it.

You get lots of cups out of a pouch, so it's not as expensive as it looks, but they'd be better doing a sample pack so people could try it first.

Also, how do you feed turmeric to a dog?

Thank you janeainsworth for providing that link. It's well worth a read.

I just mix a tiny amount of golden paste with my dogs food and slowly increase the amount. The trouble with turmeric is the effect supposedly only lasts for 4 hours so you need to take it several times a day.

Thanks, MayBe70. Is golden paste turmeric and water, or oil, or is it a different thing?

I put turmeric in a pan, add water. Bring it to the boil then heat for @ 7 minutes. Then add oil (coconut or olive) and black pepper. I can’t remember the act quantities but if you Google golden paste it will tell you. I add cinnamon to mine, too but as I mentioned I haven’t been using Ceylon cinnamon which I need to buy. I want to start my current dog on it before she gets any problems.

Thanks. I'll pass this on to my daughter, as she has a dog who is susceptible to arthritis after an operation he had last year.

I add turmeric to lattes and hot chocolate. Taste nice even if it doesn't have any healing effect.
