Covid passes and proof?

In most countries where Covid passes are required to go to cafés, restaurants, cinemas, sports venues, etc - a proof of identity with photo is also required- to avoid cheating.

What will be used in the UK as many people do not have any proof of identity with certified photo?

Talking of passes to enter theatre etc - at 'The Book of Mormon' recently the staff only took a cursory glance at the QR code on your phone as you shuffle pass them in the queue; my sister flashed her vaccination card.

There's no way in the larger venues that detailed scrutiny of passes could be carried out.

We’d use our driving licences. I’m not planning on clubbing or attending large gatherings.
Proof of a negative test in the last 48 hours is accepted too.

What is the proof ? Is it just a photo of the lft done at home ? If so that’s really easy to fake.

Agree. Can you imagine one poor steward trying to challenge football supporters to show proof ??

There's nothing in the rules in England or in Scotland about needing photographic evidence. Just the Covid Pass. Not sure about Wales or NI but I'm going to guess its the same. The way that you show that you have a negative test in the last 48 hours is by registering your LFT online and showing the text you get back.

Yes, people could cheat. But the vast majority of people won't. Similarly, an negative LFT doesn't guarantee you don't have Covid and neither does a double vaccination.

Its a numbers game, its all about reducing probabilities that people in a large group are infectious, not about making the chance zero.

Do not assume that you have to show photographic ID in this country.

I live in France and have never been asked for proof of identity when using my Pass. I am struggling now to get a third vaccination before my Pass is deactivated.
Castex has said over 65s can get the vaccine without an appointment but in truth there is a shortage.

As an aside, the Booster is now showing on the NHS App, just checked mine.

Its still easy to cheat though, if anyone wants to!

This whole covid pass thing has passed me by completely.

I haver my vaccination card - I guess that, with some ID, would do the trick.

As for the app - what could that tell anyone? That I have had a negative LFT? But it is ME who tells the NHS online that I have had a negative test and I would be lying through my teeth. It makes me smile when I send in the result and they send back a text basically saying: "Whoopydo! - we are pleased to tell you your test is negative" ... duh .....yes......I just told you that!

Just bonkers!

Luckygirl3 Thu 09-Dec-21 09:46:34

could be, not would be.

Riverwalk Thu 09-Dec-21 09:52:15

Lucky the pp shows your vaccination record and any PCR tests, plus LFTs that you have reported.

You would need the app for travel.

Riverwalk Thu 09-Dec-21 09:53:17

Sorry, the app, not pp.

Neither my daughters nor I have had any problems sodapop for our thirds but we live in the Île de Paris. I hope you are able to find a place soon.

In several countries, evidence of both pass and identity is required- to avoid massive cheating.

Difficult in the UK as many people do not have any official ID with photo.

Difficult and unnecessary.

Massive cheating? hmm

If you think everybody is out to cheat, you think photo id is a must. If you think that there are people who will cheat but the proportion is tiny, you don't need photo id. I'm in the second group.

Kali2 Thu 09-Dec-21 16:26:43

It is not difficult in countries where ID is the norm. I have my QR code for my Pass on the phone, swipe and there is my identity card with photo. Easy, peasy.

I'm not arguing with how easy it it. It was you Kali2 who said it was difficult in the UK. I'm arguing about whether its necessary and whether its something we should even be thinking about. (No, and no)

It's something I feel very, very strongly about.

Kali2 Thu 09-Dec-21 16:32:41

And I respect your opinion. The reason it has been introduced in many countries where ID is the norm, is that there was massive evidence of cheating- at football matches, clubs and discos, pubs, and other venues.

Anyone can have anyone's pass and pretend it is theirs.

Alegrias1 Thu 09-Dec-21 16:50:35

Thank you Kali2

Evidence for massive cheating??

EllanVannin Thu 09-Dec-21 16:51:09

It would appear to scientists that against Pfizer and Moderna the AstraZenica vaccine proved to be something of a non-starter where efficacy is concerned and those who had the AZ vaccine should be first in the queue for boosters rather than those who had the other two vaccines.

The AZ vaccine waned after about 10 weeks re. initial shot. Seemingly the boosters are nowhere near as crucial for those who had the Pfizer and Moderna whereas it's vital for those who had the AZ, sooner rather than later.

Why are you fussing about photo ID - it's not a requirement in the UK?

Driving licence, passport, bus pass, blue badge.

All venues are requested to take a copy of your pass and not accept any pass without proof of identity with photo.

I thought that you were in France but perhaps I'm wrong. We have to show our covid pass - on our phones but since we have one phone and both passes are on that I also carry a photo copy of the actual document in case we're not out together. We've never been asked for photo ID.

Thanks mokryna my Pass was actually deactivated. I manged to get my booster from a mobile clinic in LeClerc car park. Had to sit in the pouring rain in a leaky tent for 15 minutes to ensure I was OK. Such fun.
Pass has been reactivated now and I have my maiden name and married name on the certificate. All ok for a while now hopefully.
