Covid passes and proof?

In most countries where Covid passes are required to go to cafés, restaurants, cinemas, sports venues, etc - a proof of identity with photo is also required- to avoid cheating.

What will be used in the UK as many people do not have any proof of identity with certified photo?

England.

Were already doing it everywhere else.

Maybe that's being petty but at least I'm not ranting about id cards. wink

They are on our phones.

Mine is on my NHS app on my phone I used it to go to Jersey in the summer. Not that I am likely to be going to the big venues it will be needed for in England

Kali2 Wed 08-Dec-21 22:43:23

Yes MerylS- but there is NO proof it is yours without any proof of identity. I have both on my phone- Covid Pass and copy of identity card with photo- and it is required as proof.

All venues are requested to take a copy of your pass and not accept any pass without proof of identity with photo.

Where does it stop?

Fingerprints too? Proof of address? Mother's last 5 bank statements?

OK, now I'm ranting...

The reason is that currently it is very easy to just input someone else's QR code and Covid cert on your phone and use - making said Covid cert a nonsense.

A large proportion of adults have a driving license.

I’m a hermit. I have no idea what you’re all talking about.

Bus passes, passports, driving licence and if that isn’t enough proof of identity we could always go down the microchip route. ??‍♀️

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 23:25:44

Mine is on my nhs app on my phone.
I don't know if the app provides enough proof.
I suppose you could borrow someone else's phone if you were determined enough to 'cheat' the system.

My covid pass is down downloaded from the app onto my phone. It does not have a photograph, but my senior railcard - also on my phone - does have a good photograph and would be useful as proof of identity. Most of us also have photo driving licences.

My Covid pass is on my phone and I will take my driving licence with me as well

MissAdventure Wed 08-Dec-21 23:54:16

I don't have any current photo I,D.

Have spent days trying to complete a dbs check without it.
It's a nightmare!

Covid pass and driving licence/bus pass. Still definitely won’t be attending any of those venues. My sister needs covid pass and ID for all shopping, eating out etc. apart from Supermarkets. No proof no admission.Think we get off lightly here.

JaneJudge Thu 09-Dec-21 08:06:40

I think they are aimed at young people but maybe we can relive our youth no pernod and black for me though

JaneJudge Thu 09-Dec-21 08:07:34

Apparently those cards give you access to visiting prisons too grin win win

Oldnproud Thu 09-Dec-21 08:20:05

I could access my covid pass on my phone (assuming I could remember my password at that moment!), but the only photo ID I possess is my passport, which I'm certainly not about to start carrying around with me on a regular basis, as it won't fit in my purse.

I've never had the photo part of a driving licence, having never needed a new licence since they were introduced. I suppose I will have to finally get one if proof of ID is going to be needed on a regular basis.
I find anything that requires a passport-style photo such a hassle though - getting an acceptable photo is always such a palaver.

What still bemused me is that many people seem to think that the little cards you are given when you have your vaccinations are the 'proof' of their vaccine status,

Whitewavemark2 Thu 09-Dec-21 08:20:08

DS attended a sports venue at Stratford last week. No admission without proof of vaccination.

But inexplicably in the shopping mall is a testing centre, and potentially covid sick people were queueing to be tested amongst all the Christmas shoppers etc.

Jaxjacky Thu 09-Dec-21 08:24:18

We’d use our driving licences. I’m not planning on clubbing or attending large gatherings.
Proof of a negative test in the last 48 hours is accepted too.

Hetty58 Thu 09-Dec-21 08:30:58

I've used my bus pass as proof of ID in the past - so maybe that's acceptable (not that I fancy going anywhere crowded).

Riverwalk Thu 09-Dec-21 08:34:27

As far as I know photo ID is not required, just the Covid Pass - did I miss something?

Katie59 Thu 09-Dec-21 08:35:14

Answer is easy download and print your Covid pass then copy the Driving licence or other photo identity onto that, you then have it all in one place. In other countries most venues require a Covid pass and a medical grade mask .

It’s not rocket science

But would copies even be accepted? I'm not sure they would!

Copies are always going to be more prone to tampering.
