As most of you are aware there's a Just Giving appeal for one of our own -
Soop. I know many have contributed but wonder if others are just flipping past the 'Grade four rectal prolapse' thread.
There's less than £1500 till target. I wonder if some of you who have had to cancel meals and drinks out would consider contributing what you might have had to pay for those to Soop's fund? She has an awful condition and her situation is complex. Please Grans, think of contributing. sunshine

I've just copied the link to Twitter and Facebook again.
Can others share to their social media? Whatever helps to raise awareness and, potentially, the last £700!

I received a lovely email from Mr Soop. It’s so nice that every single donater is thanked personally, I really appreciated that. Anyway, we’re nearly there, what a wonderful force for good Gransnet can be.

I made a donation when the campaign started but have just made another. My sister in law always gives me a box of biscuits and a bottle of wine at Christmas. This year I asked her whether instead she would make a donation to Soop's campaign of what she would have spent and she sent me some money (she doesn't do the internet). Happy to pass it on to Soop's fund.

I was happy to donate as Soop always has time for everyone else’s problems. She was very kind to me when one of our dogs died.

It’s like we have scaled a summit with soop and we’re almost there. ?
We went out for lunch yesterday expecting to pay our share and the Host insisted on paying for all drinks so I have donated what we would have spent on midday drinks.
Well done everyone !

Just updating to keep the thread high up in Active.
Soop's Go Fund Me donations stand at £14,531.
Please, everyone, if you can, donate a little to help Soop reach the target. shamrock

Every little helps. It is the best kind of teamwork.

Only £390 needed now. Can we reach the target before Soop goes to bed tonight. Hope so. shamrock

Aveline Mon 20-Dec-21 16:37:38

That would be so good Aldom. I've been back for a bit of a top up as we've missed out on paying for several planned outings.
GNHQ any chance of dipping in to your coffers?

Marydoll Mon 20-Dec-21 17:10:37

I don't know who Soops is and I haven't followed her journey, but all the grans are so kind and caring towards her that I will add my donation.
I agree that GN is a wonderful force for good and I hope the target is reached.

LauraNorderr Mon 20-Dec-21 18:06:47

The recent wonderful generosity of grans shows the appreciation for the wonderful kindness of Soop over many years.

If you pop into Soop's Kitchen you will meet Soop and be made very welcome. Lots of lovely people in the kitchen.

Saw this thread yesterday but didn't post.I don't know anything about Soop either except what I've been reading on her Soops Kitchen thread. It was like listening to friendly neighbours chatting over the garden fence, something we've never experienced where I live now. It's always a privilege to be able to help out a neighbour.

Kate54 Mon 20-Dec-21 18:20:03

A mere £290 to go! Come on folks!
