Yes, if you take steroids your immune system is suppressed.
DH is on 20mg of predisinole

I use inhaled steroids for asthma but hadn’t heard this. I did hear that new treatments for covid were coming along, such good news.

Not recently- I had an email many months ago during the trial phase to say I would be suitable if I caught Covid.

Yes, I've had the email as well. Evidently I qualify because I'm immunosuppressed on account of having blood cancer (CLL) and because of the treatments that have/are lowering my immunity. Have you had your 3rd primary covid vaccine Yiayia4? I had mine about a month ago and am waiting to be invited for my booster; hopefully in just under a month's time.

Yes I’ve had it too. Scary that I’m so in danger if I get it but reassuring to know there’s a treatment available.

Yes I got the e- mail yesterday and whilst I am grateful I must confess that finding out I was CEV came as a real shock. It is 16 years since I was treated for blood cancer- Hodgkin lymphoma- and with no recurrence in that time I never thought I was still vulnerable and finding out brought back all the awfulness of that time. We have more or less kept isolated during the pandemic and hope there will be no need for special treatment. Very grateful to the clever scientists for the vaccines and just hope and pray next year will be better and safer for everyone.

I had a letter this morning, was quite surprised, they are sending a PCR test. I'm healthy apart from a skin complaint which is categorised as some sort of autoimmunity. I was on steroids for this, but have stopped taking them now

Yiayia you should be able to get another vaccination in two or three months (can’t remember which one)
My husband is on the same situation as it wasn’t showing on the almighty System that he could have a the third primary which he is definitely eligible for.

You should definitely ‘get onto them’ too; but it should be quite simple for you now that you are on. The System

I was given anti viral infusions when I was in hospital with Covid last January. I haven’t had an email about the new treatments though.

That's great news. Something positive for a change.
I'm in Scotland and have heard nothing, despite being CEV and immunosuppressed.
Any communication I receive from NHS Scotland is always via text or email.

My DH received an email yesterday saying that he was being sent a PCR to use if he had any Covid symptoms. In the event of the test being positive he has a number to call and will be sent antiviral oral medication. He has a slow growing form of lymphoma and is deemed CEV. We live in England (Oxfordshire).

At last, NHS Scotland have caught up.
I have today received my letter offering me priority PCR testing and a phone number to contact if I test positive, so that I can access anti virals.

I have psoriasis but have not had any such letter and was not expecting one. Interesting.

The offer of antivirals is, I believe, for those who are recorded as immunocompromised on their record.

Just to let you all know that the PCR test I took on 27th came back as positive for Covid on 28th. About 8 hours later, I had a phone call from a NHS doctor who asked how I was and arranged for me to visit a hospital for an infusion of neutralising monoclonal antibodies on 29th. After checking me over, I had a drip in my hand for 30minutes, sat around for an hour in case of any ill effects and then drove home. Apparently, I was the first patient they'd provided this expensive treatment to at the hospital.

I'm having follow-up phone calls every other day and am asked for my oxygen levels and pulse rate.

I have horrible cold/covid symptoms but they are definitely reducing.

The system in place to support the immunocompromised worked for me.

I'm so grateful to the NHS.

did you have an oxy-meter already, or were you supplied with one to use at home ?

welbeck, I can't remember which of the people I bothered told me I should have an oxy-metre (it could have been when I was booking one of the PCR tests) but I bought one online - it was delivered within 24 hours.

I also wish you all a Happy New Year (although DH and I have yet to have Christmas!).

I bought an Oximeter at the beginning of the pandemic, on the advice of the British Lung Foundation, as I have COPD, in addition to being immumocompromised. It has proved invaluable, when having virtual conversations with my clinicians.
When I had a heart attack in January, I was able to give the call handler my SATS and an ambulance was dispatched immediately.
Well worth the £40, I paid for it.
