This thread is for support, understanding and sharing of all
mental health troubles.

MerylStreep Sun 13-Mar-22 19:55:59

Sweetpeasue
You won’t embarrass me. I’m someone who fell off the toilet seat while in the throes of a bad diverticulitis attack. The worst part was, my bowel didn’t know that I’d fallen on the floor ?
Not my proudest moment ?
That’s when the ambulance was called.

Doodle Sun 13-Mar-22 20:50:51

Merylstreep I love your humour. Thank you for sharing and helping. Hope you have a good night.

Ellie Anne Sun 13-Mar-22 21:24:38

Oh Annie I am so sad for you. Do your family live far away? Have you any friends locally you can call on in an emergency? I know I don’t have a happy marriage but we would always help each other out if it was necessary.
Watching all the stuff that’s going on in the world I am trying really hard to count my blessings.

HowVeryDareYou Sun 13-Mar-22 22:28:48

Anniebach So sorry to hear about your daughter, hope she's feeling better now. Sorry you had the struggle to get Lottie out of the kitchen. Wish I lived near, I'd help. Is there any way you can have a carer at weekends? Any neighbour you could call in an emergency? x

ScaredyCat So glad you had a lovely holiday. It must have done you good.

SweetpeaSue I think most of us have had embarrassing bowel situations. I know I have - when I was in the hospital last year (and bedridden, unable to get up or weight-bear, the doctors had me on laxatives, and you can imagine how I ended up (several times). I told Son2 and he complained and got them stopped.

Nonnie Have a lovely holiday

EllieAnne Do you have family/friends you can spend time with?

Doodle Keep up with your walking, it'll do you good. I walked about 3 miles today, so I'll sleep well soon.

Joce345 I hope your friend gets the treatment she needs and gets on well.

Hope everyone has a restful night x

Anniebach Mon 14-Mar-22 12:39:48

Hi all x

Thank you for your kind replies. I hit a downer after those two
days, suddenly missed my sisters, I have three sisters , three brothers in law, four nephews , a niece, all married and all living here. We have had no contact for 5 years and 3 months.
My favourite sister does message me on my darling daughter’s
birthday and the anniversary of her death . If things had been
different I could have shared my concerns for my younger daughter, it’s something we always did. We are Godmothers to
each other’s children. Has to be accepted .

How is everyone?

HowVeryDareYou Mon 14-Mar-22 13:05:13

Anniebach Sorry to hear that - is there any way of reconciling with your sisters? Life is short, as we know, and I think it's a shame for families to not be in touch with each other x

Anniebach Mon 14-Mar-22 13:49:19

HVDY thank you , I doubt there will be a reconciliation, in
fairness to two of my sisters they adored my darling daughter and the Bipolar caused them much distress, one of them had a
heart attack the night before the funeral, Catherine was the favourite grandchild , favourite niece, favourite cousin and there were 11 cousins, no exaggeration, she really did light up
lives for everyone. When she stood for the town council she was the first female in the ward to win the election and had the highest number of votes of all town councillors ever.

And was the most mischievous child throughout school days , yet the teachers always excused her.

I was blessed she was my child.

Ellie Anne Mon 14-Mar-22 16:37:55

Annie that is very sad. I only had one sister and she died in 2002. I’ve envied people with big families but it doesn’t always bring happiness. Do you have other children?

HowVeryDareYou Mon 14-Mar-22 17:30:01

Anniebach You must have been extremely proud of all she did. She sounds a remarkable lady - and so do you x

Sweetpeasue Mon 14-Mar-22 19:20:23

I can only echo HVDY s post Annie.
Your daughter must indeed have been a very special person, as are you.
HVDYThat was a awful situation to be in, can't imagine how you felt. So helpless. So glad you are doing well, you've come such a long way.
MerylStreep Mortifying. It sounds as if you've been through a lot. I'm lucky I've had no 'accidents' - - yet.

Sorry this is short. Had v bad night again (diarrhoea, pain sickness). Spoke to Dr this morning. Result from scan normal! He and my own Dr know there is obvs something wrong. GP written to Gastroenterologist to tell him symptoms have worsened. Wish I'd seen the consultant. Don't know how long that will be. GP taking blood tests as having infection like symptoms and told to go to A&E if gets bad again. Had a poached egg on 1 slice of toast for lunch and tea. Crossed fingers. Don't want to go on about self all the time. Thankyou all.

Doodle Mon 14-Mar-22 19:57:18

Ellie Anne how are things with you? Are you getting involved in church activities?
You must miss your sister. I only had one brother but got on very well with him and my SIL. I miss them both.
HVDY 3 miles is a good walk. I managed nearly two today and found it a bit easier then yesterday. I took a couple of puffs of my inhaler before I went and am wondering if that helped.
Annie I wish things could be resolved between you and your sisters. I cannot understand how they can leave you alone in your situation. Your Catherine was obviously well loved and someone others were attracted to.
However distressed your sister were they should have thought how much harder it was for you.
Did your carer visit today?
Sweetpeasue how are things today? You can talk about how you feel and what’s happening to you as much as you want to. We care and would love to help but if listening is all we can do then that’s what we’re here for.
It’s good news your scan was clear. I realise that doesn’t answer the problems you are having but it’s good news just the same.
Sounds as though GP is continuing to seek an answer too.
I think going to A&E if you have the same again would be a good idea. No one wants to go but it might help with some answers. I hope you have a better night tonight.

Sweetpeasue Mon 14-Mar-22 21:15:59

Kind of you to ask Doodle. There are so many here that have problems and I don't want to monopolise.
My lower tummy feels v sore but so far today just tired. We were both up all night again downstairs. Actually I'm v scared and low. There, said it. Cried at Ukrainian news. Fear and anxiety and helplessness. I thankyou for letting me say this. This thread has been so important to me. I worry I rely on each kind word. Will get too upset if I say much more. My heart is heavy today like lead. Bless you all.

HowVeryDareYou Mon 14-Mar-22 21:38:50

SweetpeaSue Have you been tested for things such as Coeliac disease? The Ukrainian news is terrible, those people are in dire straits.

Doodle Anniebach ElleAnne and everyone in the gang, hope you all have a restful night. I'm going to bed early (in the next 30 minutes) as I've been up since 5.30 (cat woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep) x

Anniebach Tue 15-Mar-22 12:03:47

Hi all x

I am progressing to porridge and egg custard this week, how exciting is that ! My younger daughter sent me a card, a woman
wearing a purple dress, sitting on a garden chair with a 3 tier
cake stand filled with cakes. Why oh why did I read the poem
‘Warning’ to my daughters and grandchildren.

How is everyone?

HowVeryDareYou Tue 15-Mar-22 14:11:30

Anniebach That's progress. Egg custards are lovely. It surely won't be long until you're enjoying even more foods.

My aqua aerobics was canceled this afternoon, the instructor isn't well. I've had no excuse not to clean this hovel a bit grin. What used to take me hardly any time at all now takes me hours, and I have to have a little sit down in between. Tomorrow - tackling the cleaning of the bedrooms...........

Sweetpeasue Tue 15-Mar-22 15:14:00

HVDY Thankyou for thinking of that possibility re Coeliac Disease. When I looked it up it said that faeces are v pale in colour which isn't the case with myself. The faecal Calprotectin test I did showed inflammation in bowel which is why I will need to see Gastroenterologist but I'll ask him if Coeliac Disease is possibility of the GP I normally see though she's on holiday for another week. Shame about your Aqua Aerobics - - sure it must be a lot more fun than housework. Hope you have nice day with son and granddaughters tomorrow.

Anniebach It's great that the change onto solid food is going so well. I'm really pleased for you. Must be a lot more interesting. May be a while before you can tackle the 3tier cakestand though.

Had a peaceful night's sleep so lovely.
The lower pain I get is not right though. Don't know what that is but getting headaches and sickness with it. Trying not to worry. Just had white toast today.
Did washing this morning and somehow (no mystery really) sock was stuck in door when I did washing cycle. Faced a nice bit of flooding when arriving back from supermarket.
Hope everyone is well.

Scaredycat Tue 15-Mar-22 17:24:35

Hi everyone
Meryl Streep- what a wonderful way with words you have - it must have been awful at the time but it made me laugh.
Ellie Anne- hope you are ok today. I was glad to read that despite everything you and your husband would see after each other in hard times.
I,m sorry you lost your sister - I would be devastated if I lost mine.
Doodle- I walk as far and as often as I can but since coming home I have a painful heel and ankle so can’t do much? I,m using ice and elevation to try and help it. Walking means so much to us both so hope it gets better soon. I hope you are feeling more comfortable today. Been a lovely day for a walk.
HVDY- yes it was lovely thank you and really did us good. I bet you missed your Aqua Aerobics this morning somehow house cleaning isn’t as much fun!!!! Glad you rest in between .
Annie-I too wish you and your sisters could build some bridges. You still see your brother sometimes I believe. Does he live close?

Your Catherine was obviously a very special person - how sad you cannot share memories with your family as they loved her very much too.
You are a special Mum who had a very special daughter xx
Woo hoo porridge and egg custard - I used to love egg custard tarts with nutmeg on the top.
SweetPeaSue- glad you had a good nights sleep it makes such a difference doesn’t it. I can understand how scared you must feel but glad your GP is being supportive. The news at the moment messes with our heads so much. Seeing people in so much distress is heartbreaking. We are lucky to have each other in BDG.

Doodle Tue 15-Mar-22 20:12:12

Sweetpeasue I’m glad you slept better last night.
Sorry about your kitchen flood. Last thing you need at the moment.
It’s not surprising you are feeling upset. You are worried and so far no answers. Any idea when you will get to see the consultant? Has you Gp come up with anything for the pain?
Hope you have a good night tonight too.
HVDY sorry you had such an early start. I hate it when I wake early and can’t go back to sleep.
Sorry about your aqua aerobics. Housework isn’t much fun. I have to rest between jobs now.
Annie you daughter sounds better if she’s sending you cards. Hope she is improving. You are moving on. Porridge I wouldn’t mind but I hate egg custard. Hope you enjoy it though. Not ready for the cake stand yet.
Scaredycat yes it was a beautiful day today. We did go for a walk but both of us had achy legs. When we got home we had to go food shopping and to the chemist so by the time we got back we were ready to flop.
Have you finished your holiday washing yet? ?
I’m going to church tomorrow so will say a little prayer for all the gang. Take care all x

Sweetpeasue Tue 15-Mar-22 21:28:56

DoodleThankyou. Painkillers suggested we're co-codamol ect but cause constipation, the irony being unless I'm quite loose I am unable to go at all, which I know sounds odd. Been prescribed Naproxen but won't be taking them long term. No idea about consultant. My familiar GP away. Your prayers are very much appreciated Doodle thankyou so much.

I would like to share a poem. I know how much nature is important to us as we have said before.

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair grows in me
and I wake in the middle of the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the beauty of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water
And feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free
By Wendell Berry

Sweetpeasue Tue 15-Mar-22 21:41:24

Oh Scaredycat Sorry for not responding. Hope the ice and elevation help your poor ankle so you can get out walking again.

HowVeryDareYou Wed 16-Mar-22 11:04:15

Scaredycat how's your heel/ankle today?
SweetpeaSue How are you feeling this morning?
Doodle Not such good weather today, but hope you can get out.
Anniebach How are you today?

anyone I've missed Hope you're all doing well.

I got up at 6.30 (my cat is so demanding, and because he's deaf, he's so loud), and after lazing about for hours, I finally hoovered 2 of the 3 bedrooms (GDs room will be done on Friday), found loads of summer clothes DH and I put away in 2 bin liners, "for when we lose weight and they fit us again". It's not going to happen, so they can go to the charity shop. Just having a sit-down for a while {smile}. Only a year ago, I was able to clean the whole house in a morning - now I have to do it in stages.
Hope everyone has a decent day.

Anniebach Wed 16-Mar-22 12:03:44

Hi all x

HVDY I can understand your frustration having to have a sit
down when cleaning a room,Just over a year ago I had to take a sit down just to vacuum, so for you ? x

Sweetpeasue I like Wendell Berry’s poetry , he has a passion
for nature. Hope you had a restful night x

Scaredycat have you recovered from you holiday? You certainly tackled your fears , be proud . Hope your ankle is healing Yes I have a brother ,lives 10 miles away, he has a building firm, see little of him he is so busy, been waiting about 7 months for him to adjust my
window blinds, i worked for him for 30 years , most of that time was spent reminding him of work he had booked ?, but he is a nice bloke. x

Ellie Anne how are you my love ? x

Doodle hugs x

My porridge, egg custard, rice pudding, are Heinz baby foods !

How is everyone?

Sweetpeasue Wed 16-Mar-22 15:26:11

Never rains.......
Woke up this morning with closed thick throat, virus. Bowel quiet for last couple of days. If that starts now.
Feel terrible. Sorry.

HVDY Think we all have clothes like that. I've some 2 sizes too small. Must do as you've done. If you lazed about for hours this morning I'd say you've earned it! Your cat sounds funny.Sure you don't think so.

Anniebach I had to smile at your brother. Mam's (she was mam to us never Mum) brother sold/rented TVs. If our tele needed fixing she was last on list. Waited weeks. He was loved.
Keep up the Heinz. Many moons ago worked in chemist for a while. The Heinz baby foods came in LOTS of dinky little tins. The flavours were numerous. Glad you have some that you like. Hope you're OK and Lottie.
Didn't know about author of poem, just liked poem.

Hope everyone OK.

Ellie Anne Wed 16-Mar-22 15:53:43

Am reading your posts but having a horrible week.

Scaredycat Wed 16-Mar-22 16:57:34

Doodle- Holiday washing done. I iron less and less now so that’s done too- thank goodness.
Sorry about the achey legs- no wonder you were tired after all that. Thank you for your prayers x
SweetPeaSue- thanks for asking. My ankle etc is still really sore despite my home treatment! I got a brace to put on so today have been out and at first it felt ok but gradually got quite painful again. No long walks yet I,m afraid - think I,ll go and see a physio to stop it getting worse.
The sentiments in that lovely poem are exactly how I feel when out surrounded by the beauty of nature.Thank you.
I,m sorry you feel poorly today you don’t deserve that too - hope you feel better soonx
HVDY- thanks for asking the ankle etc is a work in progress.
I love that you have a cat alarm clock- we used to have a little cat that woke us up by washing our hair !
We have a christening and wedding coming up soon and DH got out his one and only suit this morning - it could join in your charity bag. It seems to have shrunk since he last wore it!!
Hope you have a good day too.
Annie- I do,feel,a bit pleased with myself for having done the holiday. I was so scared of going but now there are lovely pictures in my mind of the beautiful places we visited. Anxiety can rob you of so much and I nearly let it. Thanks for being so encouraging Annie.
Ankle still being a ……. But never mind had worse.
Ellie Anne- sending a hug
Love to,all BDG
