Does anyone know if your health centre notifies you if you are over 65 for a pneumonia jab, or do you have to ask. If anyone has the jab were there any side effects. I believe this jab is for life.

Mr. S. had a pneumonia jab having been invited to do so by our GP. He's 68 and there were no side effects truman.

I was offered the pneumonia vaccine at a routine blood test appointment. No side effects.

I had the pneumonia jab years ago because I have asthma. I still got pneumonia when I had Covid.

I had the pneumonia jab some years ago due to getting pneumonia but I was also called up when I turned 65. I had to go in to persuade the nurse that I had already had it! I don’t know if the call up system is Gp practice dependent.

I had pneumonia jab a few years ago, also had the routine flu jab at the same time. No problems , go for it!

I do not remember any side effects besides the usual sore arm.

I’m asthmatic and had it no side effects at all get it it could save you from getting really poorly.

I asked . My GP said that you can still get pneumonia but it guards against the sepsis which occurs with pneumonia. One jab for life but OH had to have one every 5 years because he is diabetic.

I've had 2 pneumonia vaccinations and still caught pneumonia after a flight from Istanbul and was rushed into hospital where I was very ill for a few weeks.

I had mine 2 years ago, Offered at the same time as my flu vaccine, no side effects, and it’s for life.

I was invited when I was 65 and had it my flu jab with no side effects from either

Forsythia Tue 28-Dec-21 20:18:32

I had it early because I have an inhaler. No problems whatsoever. My DH had his when he was 65 and no problems.

Same here - was offered and accepted mine at the same time as the flu jab a few years ago.
No side effects.

maddyone

I had the pneumonia jab years ago because I have asthma. I still got pneumonia when I had Covid.

There are different types of pneumonia, maddyone
I think the pneumonia vaccine protects against bacterial pnemonia. Covid is a virus so it won't protect against that.
There is also fungal pneumonia which can be very dangerous.

My surgery phoned last year and I had it at the same time as the flu vaccine.

Had my pneumonia last year at same time as flu. Sore arm for couple of days.

Yes of course Calistemon, a good point. I hadn’t thought of that.
