The first incident was not a fall, you tripped. The second was maybe due to being nervous after the first. Go to the Doc and have a check-up to put your mind at rest.

Cataract replacement should not cause falls as it improves your sight.

I agree with Elizabeth27, there was a clear reason for your first fall.

Do they have accident alert systems for old people where you live? In Britain you carry a pager and just press it when you need help and womeon can be contacted. It might stop you and your son worrying about falls as help could quickly be summoned.

Alternatively you could make sure you always have your mobile phone on you, so that if anything happens you can always summon help.

I do try to be more careful, Annie1 as I've tripped or fallen a few times due to lack of concentration, even when I was young. If you're concerned or feel dizzy see your GP.

There is no messaging service for old people here. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there is nobody with me. On other days the housekeeper is here all day. I do have a walking stick so I will have to use it and keep my phone with me so I can call my son. I feel wobbly and the lump on my head is a bit sore. Thank you for your kind offers to come to the Caribbean! It is a very expensive flight in this season and the island is chock full with tourists even though COVID cases are rising as islanders are very stubborn and many refuse the vaccinations.

I don't know what health care you have, but here we have Falls clinics which check out all your facilities and give you a plan to avoid fallings
As for me - I fall often - eg this morning in town - but there's always someone around to help me up.I'm in my 80s.
This am a crowd came around - they're very kind. One strong looking man and I asked him to "please come from behind" ie lift me from the back.
On second thoughts rather a suggestive remark. But not from an old lady (hmm).

As someone with a life time of falls and trips behind me I have become adept at falling in a manner that protects me from injury and usually enables me to get up as quickly as I fall.

Thank you for the replies. Both times I fell forward and yet landed up lying on my back hitting my head on a hard surface. I think one reason I cannot save myself is weak stomach muscles. I was wearing Skechers rubber soled sandals at the time and wonder if footwear plays a part%?
