I was told by GP I needed a knee replacement, during Covid last year.
My knee was so swollen and at times so unbelievably painful. I too ended up paying for injection.
The relief was amazing, it worked for about 4 - 5 months. Swelling went down pain vastly reduced. The Consultant told me its just a sticking plaster and I could have a repeat depending how long it lasts, up to about 3 he recommended.
Eventually got my NHS appointment was told by Consultant , injections work reasonably well if knee is swollen.
To me so worth the money.
Pleased to say I was only on waiting list 4 months before I had a total Knee replacement (with Robot assistance) on 17th Dec home within 72 hrs.
Sore but sorted, my Hip next!
Best of luck.
