Being emotional and having Covid

In New Zealand covid is everywhere, it seems that every second person has it and after thinking I had some magical immunity, so have I.
I've got all the usual symptoms and I can manage them but what I didn't expect is that I've become dreadfully emotional. I'm living alone with family close by and they're great but my daughter who usually lives here has gone away for a while leaving me her four cats to mind. One of them, my favourite has gone missing. She's been away for 3 days now. I expect she's somewhere on the farm.
I have unwittingly exposed friends n family to this bug and some of them are not in good health.
Just wondering if any of you lovely people have experienced being like this when you had covid.

It does make you emotional, being ill does smile I hope you feel better soon x

Looking after someone else's animals is always a worry isn't it? She'll probably turn up fit and well just before your daughter gets back having worried the living daylights out of you.

Covid has affected people in so many different ways - feeling anxious and emotional being one of them. I hope you feel better soon.

You wouldn't believe it but the little cat has just walked in the door, very hungry so the hunting must have been poor. Hope she didn't get any native birds.
I've got something else on my mind but its a different thing altogether.
Thanks ladies xx

I'm glad the cat is home smile

So pleased the cat is home ! I have Covid too but have never at any time felt I was seriously ill so that's good. My worst symptom was nausea - can't bear it !
I wonder if you are more emotional because you are limited in what you are able to do and where you can go.
Bet you feel a bit more cheerful now the cat is home ! I do and it's not my cat.flowers

I didn't realise I had this extra emotional thing untill i read the news this morning about a horrific crash. It shocked me profoundly, far more than it normally would and that set the tone for the day really.
I'm sorry to hear about your nausea Grandmajean. Have you tried ginger? Either tea, ginger ale or ginger biscuits?

Grandmajean Sun 19-Jun-22 13:53:39

Thank you farmgran - the nausea has gone now , thank goodness.

One of my granddaughters has CoviD for the third time and her cat appears to have it too (is it possible) the cat certainly has some flu like problem at the complete same time… off food, sticky eyes, sleeping not wanting to go out or do anything !

Think it was inevitable that once N.Z stopped its draconian cutting itself off from the rest of the world, that this virus was zoom around it. Fortunately, this does mean that most people there would have been vaccinated against it, so when they do succumb, it will just be a relative mild illness.

Any virus like this does tend to make us weepy and emotional. Hope, that by now the OP would be feeling very much better.

Must say that in my own family, just myself, and two daughters (one of them EV) and two g.daughters have not actually had Covid. All the other AC and g.children have and daughter/sons in law. All recovered. My EV dautgher has continued throughout (except for a couple of months when she was not allowed) to go into work each day, and lead a normal life.

My EV son-in-law (now with five vaccinations) has gone down with Covid twice. Really unwell for a couple of days and man ill for a further three or four days. The vaccines really do their job of preventing the vast majority of people becoming dangerously ill. Think we now have to accept that this virus will just be a part of our lives in the same way as we do with influenza.

The real tragedy now is not getting these vaccines out to the rest of the world - not only will this mean tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths, but will give this virus so much more opportunity to continue.

My husband is just getting over a dose of covid 19. His symptoms began a fortnight ago. He has been very depressed and maudlin, which isn't like him at all.
He seems to be returning to his usual self now, but it's been a struggle for him. He is vaccinated and boosted so didn't have it as badly as he might have done.
I do hope you feel better soon, and that the cat comes home.

My husband hardly ever cries but when he had Covid he kept bursting into tears. It affects your emotional state in a very weird way. He would apologise and then burst into tears again. Quite frightening for me because he doesn’t show emotions like that normally.

I hope you feel better soon, farmgran flowers

Covid is zooming around here too, so many people seem to have caught it.

Thank goodness the cat wandered in again - I wonder where she went? They are a law unto themselves.

I haven't been feeling well and a bit weepy but thought it was because of a knee injury. However, I've taken three Covid tests in the past week and all were negative.

I'm starting to recover now apart from chesty cough n swollen glands.
The frosty nights are followed by sunny days and basking outside in the sun feels like a healthy thing to do. It was strange and out of character for the little cat to run off. She came back rather dusty so I wonder if shes been in the hay shed eating mice!
I think the NZ lockdowns were neccessary as our health system would have collapsed otherwise and it did allow time for vaccinations.

I have covid too and am feeling bad as all our childcare has had to go and my DD's are struggling. Also they worrying about DGC not getting to finish term yet again as rates are rising rapidly in Scotland. I read about that dreadful accident. So sad and difficult to not feel heartbroken for the family. Glad the cat came back. DD2 is getting a kitten on Thursday ?

I am glad you are feeling better farmgran and that you can stop worrying about the cat! Take care.
