Top tips from today’s Times for sleeping in the heat
1. Have a cool or lukewarm shower or bath (but don’t overuse soaps, which can diminish your body’s natural flora and allow fungal growth).
2. Wet your face and arms with a wet towel or water spray bottle, then stand in front of a fan.
3. Soak your feet in cold water or a cold water bottle for 10 minutes before going to bed.
4. Put your socks in the fridge.
5. Wet your hair.
6. Ice packs on your skin.
7. Don’t make important decisions after a night of disturbed sleep.
8. Banish your pet from your bed, and possibly your partner, too.
9. Move your bed to a cooler room, as top floors are usually hotter. You may wish to move your bed downstairs to a sitting room or cellar.
