That is so sad arewethereyet, incredibly upsetting to think of someone dying like that

I have a top of the range air filter unit, it detects pm ( particles) and VOCs (gases such as formaldehyde) and this afternoon, in the heat of the day, the VOC detection went from blue (excellent) to red. I believe that was due to the heat causing molecules in certain solids like asphalt etc to vibrate faster and to be ejected as allergenic gases. I do think that those with allergies need to carry their puffers all the time at the moment

Interesting - weirdly though the pollen forecast has been given out as low or medium depending on where in the UK you live, my hayfever is much better today than it’s been for about two weeks.

Our pollen count is low today too, but for about a week it was very high. I've been waking up with my eyes running and nose all blocked. It was a bit better this morning although my eyes are still quite puffy.

I have felt quite warm verging on hot, but possibly no more than in previous hot periods - thus far.

Yet a hot night tonight and predicted higher temperatures tomorrow.

Having dealt with the pigeon this morning, I went into the kitchen to get an evening meal and found ants and flying ants - far more than yesterday!

Wildlife seem to make a beeline for us (sorry for the pun)

Try wiping your surfaces and window ledges with vinegar Callistemon21 - ants aren't keen on it at all. They are pesky so and so's though, good luck.
Perhaps you'll be visited by a friendly woodpecker tomorrow who will gobble them all up?!

We have some white vinegar for cleaning windows so will try that tomorrow.

I did see a woodpecker a couple of days ago in the garden.

In fact I shall go and wipe the windowsill with it now.

Well my indoor thermometer is reading 30 degrees at midnight which is rather too warm for me. It wasn't that hot this afternoon, the heat seems to increase in the evening. Here's hoping I can sleep. ?

It was sweltering hot here yesterday afternoon/evening in West London. It felt like we were living in a hot air dryer. And we have the joy of an even hotter day ahead ?

Wearing wet clothes helps….especially a wet bra!

I accidentally spilled a glass of water down the front of my nightie and at first went 'Oh!' and thought of pulling it off then went 'Ahhh' as the cool water was a blessed relief.

I had a lightbulb moment yesterday. - it suddenly occurred to me that my air fryer is portable!

Fancying some 'fresh' bread to go with our feta and walnut salad for dinner, but not wanting to make the house any hotter than it already was, I took it outside to finish baking a part-baked baguette. ☺

Lying on the sofa to stay cool, I was idly googling previous droughts just now. I didn’t know that the Great Fire of London in 1666. was preceded by a drought of 10 MONTHS, the Thames was a trickle, and that it was so hot that oranges were ripening on trees outside. Just goes to show.

The Great Fire was also preceded by the last major outbreak of the plague . It is thought that the fire helped to put paid to the plague once as it arrived seemingly from no where and vanished as oddly. But who knows.
