HAZBEEN - Write to your MP - a simple letter explaining your 'patient journey' should be enough - send a copy to your local doctor, hospital, department - whoever (not a blind copy but one where everyone sees everyone). Can do it all online. I have been shocked at the effect this type of thing has in getting something done when previously it could not... wink

Just a call from the hospital, amazingly they suddenly have a cancellation appointment next week! Seems PALS worked their magic! Now just have to get a blood test done before next Wednesday.
Thanks for all your comments and support.

I’m very sorry you’re not getting the support or treatment you need HAZBEEN. Could you ask for a referral to a different hospital who can provide a relevant consultant? I would definitely be looking for a new GP, that is disgraceful.

I am so sorry to learn that you have been treated this way.
However, the hospital have a duty of care and your next move should be to lodge a formal complaint through their PALS department, and I mean, make a lot of noise!
Make an appointment to see your GP for an immediate referral to an alternative hospital as a matter of urgency - you deserve better than this and I wish you well.

HAZBEEN sorry you are being treated so badly. It's ironic this morning on the news they where only saying they where making it a priority that cancer patients get the treatment they need.

I have found since I moved from the West Midlands 3 years ago to the north west how different the health authorities are. Because I moved finally got a diagnosis for my neurological condition and found out about my heart condition both which I was born with. I am now 64.

Hopefully you have the help you need very soon.

Thats part of it though Theexwife, Unless someone orders the blood test I wont be having them or having my medication authorised!

You are having blood tests which must show the treatment is suitable so don't worry that you are not actually seeing anyone.

Oh dear! How terribly frustrating and angry-making for you. I hope you get some proper responses very soon flowers

Bit of background, I was diagnosed with a type of Blood Cancer in September 2020. Because of Covid I was given the news in a garbled phone call with no prior warning what to expect. Since then apart from 2 appointments at the infusion unit to have a blood check and receive my oral chemo prescription (back at the beginning) I only have 3 monthly phone consultations. After each of those (5minute) calls the consultant orders a new blood test before the next call and authorises my prescription which I pick up locally.
In July my consultant said she was leaving and I would get a new appointment in September/October from the new Doctor. Having heard nothing I rang the hospital and was told they didn't have a new consultant yet and the others in the department are refusing to take on any more patients.
So now I have no one looking after my case.
I emailed my GP (they dont take phone calls!) but no response after a week. Just rung PALS and they are chasing up the department but thats it.
I needed a rant about this, thanks for being there!
