I know there have been threads on private health care including this organisation, but I wondered whether those who are members can recommend it and whether there are pitfalls which make it not worthwhile.
By our age (70’s for me) we tend to have “pre-existing conditions” whether arthritis, cholesterol or BP. Are these treated as exclusions ?
I am reading more and more about waiting lists for scans/tests and consultations and while I am not exactly in that position yet I can’t say I am filled with optimism for the future.

Apologies, I was thinking more about Bupa, Nuffield and Spire.

But as you say, for £11.90 a month !!!

I'm surprised it's never gone up much!

Must check my pension slip to see.

Callistemon my dh has had most done there, but I had a few tests, they have their own mri machines ( nice quiet ones) which meant no waiting fir another appt when i went about my knee a couple of years ago. Think they have always been mrsa free too.
The Charge this year fir a new hip was £9,000, substantially cheaper than usual.
I feel, lucky i havnt used it much, but it is nice knowing its there should it be needed.

Think it was £8.75 when we first joined over 15 years ago so yes, not much increase.

I used to have private health insurance when I was working but on retirement the costs did rocket so I looked at alternatives and Beneden did seem like a good option. Have been a member for about about 8 years. I think that it's better than nothing, especially with the current state of affairs. Have just added my husband who has multiple health conditions and is no spring chicken. There are no issues about age or pre existing conditions. However they do no cover everything and you do have to apply. Heart and cancer come to mind. There's lots of detail on their website.
