Out of no-where, hit me like a hurricane on Boxing Day.

Any other sufferer out there?

OnwardandUpward Tue 27-Dec-22 18:35:14

Yes extremely unwell. Like covid, with a chest infection too.

Hope you feel better soon. Mine started on the 23rd and still horrendous.

MiniMoon Tue 27-Dec-22 18:41:31

DH is suffering. He developed cold symptoms on 2nd December, he isn't getting any better! He has an awful cough and has now lost his sense of smell. We've tested him for covid, but that was negative. I am insisting that he goes to the walk-in centre at the hospital tomorrow, if he doesn't there will be ructions.

Yes, I worked so hard for Christmas and it hit me Christmas Eve. Lost a lot of time to a fever and horrendous body aches. Lucozade is helping

Hope everyone who is poorly feels better soon

Mollygo Tue 27-Dec-22 18:53:10

Had an ambulance last Wednesday because so unwell. Better enough for us to do family Christmas dinner, though I appreciated DD’s help with serving as I felt quite shaky at times. Tested for Covid just in case.
Get well soon if you’re not well, so you can start 2023 on a good note.

Daughter and youngest GD have been quite poorly but SIL and other GD who live with them have managed to fend it off. Sensibly, infected DD and GD did keep away from all grandparents. I guess it will a matter of time though and having respiratory problems I am not looking forward to it.

Its like very bad flu, covid and a chest infection. I have no voice.

OnwardandUpward Tue 27-Dec-22 18:57:34

I have lost smell and taste too.

Somebody else who's ill with this, (Esmay I think) did suggest that it's like covid because one of the versions might have mutated so much that it's sub-clinical & therefore not showing on a covid test? That does actually make a lot of sense and therefore best to rest.

rafichagran Tue 27-Dec-22 19:00:36

I have it too, it's horrible, partner has escaped it.

Abitbarmy Tue 27-Dec-22 19:05:22

Oh yes. Started at the beginning of the month with a really bad cough. That started to improve then got a slightly different, worse cough and flu symptoms. Exhausted, no appetite, etc. then recovered a bit through Xmas eve and Xmas day, then started to go downhill again yesterday. Feel awful again and think I have a chest infection. Feel so tired and we’ll be low par. Into the fourth week now. Tested twice as has DH who has also been bad though not as bad as me, yet. Negative every time. Make it go away!

OnwardandUpward Tue 27-Dec-22 19:12:35

Yes, make it go away!

Had a hot water bottle on chest today because chest hurt so much. sad

Fleurpepper Tue 27-Dec-22 19:15:57

Oh dear, many of you sound much worse than me. I am so sorry. OH had Covid quite badly, for the first time, beg. of October and took many weeks to recover. I have been totally fine, and have no idea how this happened! Had my big brother over for Christmas and he has gone home now- he is 85 and had a pulmonary embolism last year- so hope he won't have picked it up from me.

henetha Tue 27-Dec-22 19:24:49

So sorry for all who feel ill. My entire family have it, but I've avoided it so far. I'm expecting to show symptoms very soon.
Get well soon.

Hetty58 Tue 27-Dec-22 19:34:40

My daughter's family have all been really unwell with a virus, last week, and had a basic little Christmas at home. It started with their kids - so was probably from school - and must be highly infectious.

GagaJo Tue 27-Dec-22 19:36:27

DGS has had it since the 19th. Horrific cough. Waking him up at night, making him sick. At times he's OK but at others, he's conked out. Very odd how it comes and goes although he is very stoical and often denies being ill when he clearly is. Only a slight temperature. Not covid.

Nannytopsy Tue 27-Dec-22 19:38:43

DH has been poorly for about a fortnight then we both started with a “cold” on Friday. Still not getting better. Cough and a sore tongue.

Smileless2012 Tue 27-Dec-22 19:43:28

I started with it on the 17th, Mr. S. on the 20th and we both still have it. Feel a bit better today. Awful cough which comes and goes, little energy and a headache which wont shift.

We had Covid in the summer and this is much worse. Negative test results, but who knows. Whatever it is, it's bloody awful.

Lilypops Tue 27-Dec-22 19:49:51

Yes I started with a tickley cough on the 11thDec. Am still coughing. I feel so exhausted it’s a chest infection but I am asthmatic too so it’s a double whammy, I have finished a course of antibiotics and Prednisolone steroids and I still feel ill. Am not getting much sleep either. Just go away !!

Jane71 Tue 27-Dec-22 20:01:05

Only a bad cold with a headache, which isn't unusual at this time of year. Had to buy some Covid tests just in case, but they were negative thank goodness.
DH is suffering more than me.

Blondiescot Tue 27-Dec-22 20:07:22

Yes, I've had it too - thanks to 5-year-old GS! Started off like a bad head cold, then the coughing began - I spent most of xmas night into boxing day sitting in a chair trying to sleep as I couldn't stop coughing when I tried to lie down. Tested negative for covid.

ginny Tue 27-Dec-22 20:15:17

Not me luckily but our Son in Law had to go to A &E last night.
He’s not been well for about a fortnight and saw a doctor last week who prescribed steroids.
He managed to cope with a couple of hours on Christmas Day to be with his boys but spent Boxing Day in bed. Last evening DD insisted that they rang 111 who listened to his symptoms and said they would send a. Ambulance! However it may not arrive for about 6 hours so maybe better to take him herself if possible.
After 8 hours he was sent home with antibiotics plus the steroids and told if he had left it any longer he would have ended up with full blown pneumonia !
Hopefully he will improve soon.

We have all had coughs and colds as have many of our friends .

GrannyGravy13 Tue 27-Dec-22 20:15:50

All AC and families have this nasty virus/bug, along with my sister and her family who had it prior to Christmas.

We are keeping everything crossed we have swerved it as we have all been together over Christmas 🤞🤞🤞

Antonia Tue 27-Dec-22 20:22:35

Yes. Started on 19th December - stomach upset, no appetite and Christmas day I had bouts of diarrhoea. Then sick last night. Fed up with it now.

OnwardandUpward Tue 27-Dec-22 20:56:00

So sorry about your SiL Ginny. So sorry for everyone who's also ill. I agree with you Smileless, this does feel worse than covid.

So sorry for all of you, including myself, if I'm honest .

Abitbarmy Tue 27-Dec-22 21:35:44

Yes I agree it has been much worse than Covid for me. And the hard coughing has some embarrassing side effects as well as the really sore abdomen muscles.
