Out of no-where, hit me like a hurricane on Boxing Day.

Any other sufferer out there?

As I said, I tested positive on Christmas Eve. I had a sore throat for a couple of days before the test and it hurt to swallow. I felt very achy and tired with it and still feel very weary now. I had a lot of aches and pains all around my rib cage and back, and also some strange sort of tingly feelings in my arms and legs which felt like mild electric shocks. It’s funny how people get it differently. I lost my appetite the first day, but I was okay after that, although I’m not eating as much as normal. I also had a cough with it but nothing serious, but of course keeping on coughing when you have a tickly sore throat makes your throat more sore.

I wonder if all the people who are so ill have had their Covid 3 and Flu vaccinations? My husband had both on the same day and then almost immediately went down with a massive chest infection, coughed for three months, lost three stone, vomiting, phlegm, exhaustion. 2 courses of antibiotics prescribed by our excellent GP who DID examine him, then straight to hospital for 8 days after results of chest scan came back showing loads of phlegm on lung. So then IV antibiotics which started to work after a few days. He was discharged with almost all the phlegm on the lung gone. However, while in hospital he developed weird seizures which the neurologist put down to stress (after brain scans clear). Now he's been home for two weeks but he's doddery, his balance is gone and worst of all he's very depressed and fearful. So I do not know when he will be back to his old self, for the experience has been so depleting and traumatic.

I am sure that lots of you out there will shout at me, but I do believe that those vaccinations made matters worse. While vaccinations have been wonderful in the past and are certainly a godsend in many cases, I believe that the idea you can vaccinate the human body against multiple infections and manipulate the immune system over and over again is questionable. Alternative practitioners are being over-run with patients who have had similar experiences following the third vaccination - and it doesn't even stop you getting Covid.

I cannot for the life of me understand why people bang on endlessly about vaccinations and medication and never mention the importance of a nutritious diet, judicious supplements (such as Vitamin C and D) regular exercise and fresh air, and other common sense habits.

I had my first two Vaccinations for Covid but that's it for me, and I haven't had the flu jab either. I'm looking after myself in other ways. Of course I may be proved wrong, but fingers crossed and Cherry Active flowing!

Tested positive for Covid on Christmas Eve, so that buggered up the whole of my Christmas. My daughter had it and her husband had the flu and her 14 month old baby had Covid too. They were supposed to be coming on the 27th and my other daughter on the 28th. They decided to leave it till tomorrow hoping that I would test negative today. I took another Covid test earlier but it still had a faint line so my daughter said it was still positive. When I took the first test it came up with a very definite line very quickly. I’m going to do another test in the morning and I hope it is negative so they can still come tomorrow. My younger daughter doesn’t want to take any chances because she’s had it twice already and has asthma which is bad at the moment and I really worry about her when she gets ill.

In November 4 days before I was due to go on holiday I went shaky and dizzy fell over passed out dislocated my ankle and fractured it in 2 places and pulled my ligaments was in hospital for a week had surgery and a cast put on after dislocation was sorted. I was sent home by ambulance. First week very hard so I thought after that I had a dodgy tummy very hard to get to toilet with a bad leg in cast with zimmer frame then started throwing up. A few days after I had a cough my ribs hurt i then had a whole night of shivering and a cold sweat soaked the bed, I called up drs who put me on amoxicillin and an inhaler. After I had finished them the next day still felt bad so called 111 who sent me to urgent care the dr said I still had a bad chest infection so was put on stronger antibiotics and my tongue was so painful that I was told it had thrush from first course of antibiotics. A week on still have cough very lethargic and have no lost my voice I am so fed up I now have a boot to wear on my ankle but I'm not strong enough to try and work to get my walking back on track will this ever go away its been a month and a half not looking forward to new year with this still

Visiting my son and family for Christmas and New Year. On the flight I noticed and grumbled to myself about the number of people with coughs. That was 22nd. Boxing Day I was well out of sorts. No energy and could have stayed in bed but I didn't. Felt chesty wanting to cough but nothing, headache, blocked nose. Tested twice for Covid, negative. It's the lurgy. Bring back masks on planes!

My daughter and GS came to stay for a couple of days just before Christmas and both were really suffering. I used First Defence and I must say it has worked and I didn't catch it then. My son's mother in law also had it and we were together on Christmas day but with First Defence I seem to have escaped it again.

I think it's going to become a permanent fixture in my medicine cabinet.

lizzypopbottle Fri 30-Dec-22 13:39:32

Sick (as the proverbial) on Monday 19th and wiped out by whatever virus it was. I slept more or less round the clock and eating was a no no until I made myself have soup on the Wednesday evening. Still no appetite until Christmas day and even now I'm not back to normal. Pesky 🤔 and now the 'proverbial' (ie my dog) is poorly with something similar!

DeeDe Fri 30-Dec-22 13:38:34

Yes had cold over three weeks ago, only lasted couple of days, then the cough started and still coughing, chest infection symptoms no energy and just can’t shift it, know another four people with similar symptoms..no idea what this is, had nowt like it before?
Is there something we’re not being told?

Daisymae Fri 30-Dec-22 13:25:59

My brother and sister in law are both I'll with it, probably for 2 weeks now. One definitely a chest infection. I have Covid Day 2 and staying in bed in an attempt to protect my DH who is vulnerable. What a miserable time so many people are enduring. Hope everyone is soon on the mend.

Supergran1946 Fri 30-Dec-22 13:20:52

Had it for seven days now. Still got a hacking cough despite consuming loads of cough mixture. Ribs very sore with so much coughing

LindyB Fri 30-Dec-22 13:18:13

My husband not dog!!

LindyB Fri 30-Dec-22 13:17:43

My dog came down with Covid on 15 Dec had really bad cold symptoms and awfull cough, did not feel to bad. Tested negative on 24th and seemed better. On 28th cough and cold worse. It must still be Covid as he had been isolating while positive. I did not catch anything, neither of us have had Covid before and both fully vaccinated, Covid and flu.

campbellwise Fri 30-Dec-22 13:00:08

Both so poorly with coughs. Not Covid and for us few aches and pains. Just a very “ productive” cough that keeps us awake at night in particular. We’ve gone through bottles of Day Nurse and Benylin but still suffering after 20 days. Paracetamol helps a little. My advice; wear a mask when you are in a public place. This virus is a bad one.

icanhandthemback Fri 30-Dec-22 12:52:55

My mother got it on the Tuesday before Christmas. By the Thursday when she was due to be the guest of honour for a family Xmas dinner, she was virtually comatose with very low SATS, oxygen levels at 86%. She remained that way until the day after Boxing Day. All over the Christmas period we were worried sick and nearly called an ambulance several times but the Home she is in felt that she would get better care where she was as the hospitals are in such a state. She is a bit better now but is still very congested. I honestly thought she was a goner but should have realised what a little fighter she is.
Now, after sitting by her bedside, I feel as rough as anything!

GrauntyHelen Fri 30-Dec-22 12:42:22

Yip and it's worse than Covid which we had in October

cupcake1 Fri 30-Dec-22 12:38:18

Went down with a sore throat headache and sinuses on the 18th December. Christmas ruined as still not well as DH and I tested positive for covid so we were both billy no mates! Still feel rough and DH still positive. Cough horrendous last night I was coughing and so blocked up I couldn’t catch my breath. That was really frightening. This can bugger off now, totally lethargic and fed up! Cannot believe we are not testing persons on flights coming from China as someone else said have the government not learnt ANYTHING from last time 🤬! Get a grip Sunak !!

I’ve had a horrible cough, only the second one in my life, that went to be followed by diarrhoea for several days. Thankfully Christmas Day all the family were on form, so very grateful for that! Has anyone used Livi? This is an online service that my surgery says to use as they have no available appointments. I’m not sure if it’s free or not. I don’t need it, but just wondered if any of you have used it.

Larsonsmum Fri 30-Dec-22 12:05:34

Have had a very serious bacterial infection of respiratory tract for almost 11 weeks. Have only just avoided hospital admission as am severely immunocompromised. Has utterly floored me. me. 5 lots of antibiotics already, and slowly it may be shifting. Now have Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome, and relapse of ME/
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Lots around at the moment.

knspol Fri 30-Dec-22 11:57:41

Heard of a few people lately who have all the Covid symptoms including loss of taste but have been testing negative. Hope those suffering are soon on the mend.

Fleurpepper Fri 30-Dec-22 11:48:08

Oh my NemosMum, you have been through the mill. So glad things are getting better, and that you were able to see your GP to be examined properly for the diagnosis. OH had Covid in October, and it turned out into a secondare bacterial infection which also required antibiotics.

Sadly, I have passed on this bad cold/whatever to my big brother who was visiting for Christmas, he is 85 and lives on his own- so I am worried. Feeling a bit better myself today, although still woollie headed and coughing- and feeling very low. But on the mend.

How are the children doing Gaga and all?

Yoginimeisje Fri 30-Dec-22 11:47:56

Yes I've got it too. Really painful chesty cough, so try not to cough. Could have got it from my DD&GC who had it a couple of weeks ago. Or could have got it from a work colleague who looks very poorly last time I saw her, the Thursday before Xmas, but who knows! Just slept the last couple of days, better today, but not going out, really bad cough and lethargy still.

Jaxjacky Fri 30-Dec-22 11:45:25

It’s the Jab, weakened people’s immune systems so they catch everything going.

Strange how it’s the vaccinated getting Covid whilst the unjabbed are just fine.

Yes, I know most of you disagree but do some research. Check the yellow card which shows how many deaths and illnesses have been caused by the Vaccine._

My daughter has it, she’s unvaccinated.

pen50 Fri 30-Dec-22 11:44:35

I've got it, DH so far okay. Started Christmas Day, made it through to the evening and then haven't been up until today. Ugh.

NemosMum Fri 30-Dec-22 11:43:04

Yes, my 'cold' starting 12th Dec turned to pneumonia by 19th. Haven't felt so ill since chemo 5 years ago! Finally gave in and saw the GP who ticked me off for not seeking help earlier. It seems a viral infection opened the door to a secondary bacterial infection. Strong antibiotics knocked that off, but I still have a phlegmy cough and wheeziness (doc prescribed inhaler). I think it will take a while to get sorted. Respiratory infections are going crazy - this is because we locked down for Covid. The immune system is like an orchestra - it needs to practise every day.
