Once they’re soft, when you cook and use a lemon, sit with your elbows in each of the ‘cup’ halves.
I’d second O’Keefes, DH uses it on his very dry hands. General maintenance with body lotion after showering.

Dermol 500 lotion. It's in a pump bottle non greased absorbs quickly and unscented. Stopped me from scaring when I had jaundice.

Thank you all. A lot of good suggestions.

This is how I clean my hands after gardening and I also use it on patches of rough dry skin on my elbows and feet .

One handful of Scottish porridge oats , one heaped dessertspoonful of granulated sugar and a splash of olive oil plus a splash of warm water .

Mix and then massage onto the area .

Then rinse off with warm water .

Apply daily.

For my hands I add lemon juice and omit the water .

Moisturise afterwards .

For really bad areas I'd use O'Keefes hand cream .
It's totally brilliant on dry skin .

You could try Aveeno Dexerma cream, it's for very dry skin.

While in the shower I use a gentle body scrub on my elbows and knees. Once dry I smother them with body butter. I have beautifully soft elbows and knees.

All I can recommend is moisturising, day & night. Perhaps with a cream like E45 or even a deeply moisturising foot cream. Especially at night; I moisturise my elbows (& feet!) once I'm in bed, and (elbows) often earlier as well, when I've had a shower. Keep on it and a fortnight should show an improvement, in my experience.

My poor elbows. They've been neglected all winter and now the skin is hard, thick and dry. I don't work anymore so don't sit with my elbows on a desk so why it's so bad I really don't know.

Has an OP got a solution please? I've been putting hand cream on them for a couple of weeks but it's not having any effect.

We'll soon be into short-sleeve weather and honestly they're not fit to be on view.

Thanks.
