As a royalist but also a princess Diana fan, I'm struggling, I can't stand to see camilla crowned queen, I don't want to watch, it's making me less of a royalist, I wish he'd just pass it on to William and Kate

Oh, thanks, NotSpaghetti
It was possibly media exaggeration about the two Grannies plotting to bring about the union of their grandchildren.

Don’t watch it if it’s going to upset you op , I won’t be watching it as not in the least interested

Yiayia70 Tue 02-May-23 13:12:06

I’m with you , I don’t like Camilla at all, she’s conniving and she’s consort Not Queen! Charles’s doesn’t even dress himself it’s pathetic. William and Kate should be in their place.

enabenn Tue 02-May-23 13:18:31

Saint Diana.

Anniebach Tue 02-May-23 13:19:27

Kate will be queen consort

Coco51 Tue 02-May-23 13:27:46

Camilla is the love of his life and he will be a better King with her at his side. I wish people would get over the Saint Diana thing: she was far from that - numerous affairs with married men. Andrew Parker Bowles was a serial adulterer but you didn’t see Camilla manipulating the media for sympathy!

Treetops05 Tue 02-May-23 13:44:51

I will be watching, and enjoying.

Anniebach Tue 02-May-23 13:49:04

Who will the media choose to replace Camilla and Diana ?

PamQS Tue 02-May-23 13:53:22

“ will probably watch some of the coronation as it's History with a capital H.”

Exactly how I feel. If it wasn’t being shown, there’d be a load of grumbling about it costing all that money and those who have paid for it not being allowed to see it!

As a church minister, I do feel a certain amount of professional interest in the public services the C of E concocts for public occasions! I watched Prince Phillip’s funeral out of interest, and really enjoyed it. It reflected his love of Creation (even if sometimes expressed by huntin’, shootin’ and fishing’)

The main interest being created by the media seems to be who is sitting next to who, who should be feeling slighted by the arrangements, and what Prince Harry is doing - none of which hold the slightest interest for me!

PamQS Tue 02-May-23 14:08:42

That seems to have already been decided - Charlotte! Yesterday the Daily Express was ffull of photos of Charlotte and Diana at similar ages, showing how similar they were.

Anniebach Tue 02-May-23 14:12:17

Yes, and there have been posts on this forum re Charlotte should be Queen because George is too serious !

Why on earth would she? Nobody knew who Camilla was back in the day.

Gundy Tue 02-May-23 14:41:55

I think Camilla looked much more “Queenly” when she married Charles, but of course, we all age. Is it just me or has her sartorial tastes aged with her? Will be interesting to see her gown(s) and hair on Saturday (plus going forward.)

She looked amazing on her wedding day.

She might have, when the media went for her claw and fang. She maintained a dignified silence. Do the media castigate Diana’s partners? Oliver Hoare, James Hewitt, Will Carling, Hasnet Khan, Dodi Fayed to name a few.

Anniebach Tue 02-May-23 15:10:58

James Gilby, not Hasnat Khan they were both single , she couldn’t give up the camera for him though.

No television here. . I shall be out riding my horse.

koalama is 'struggling' because she has mixed/conflicting emotions. Let's show a little emotional intelligence - hey? My feeling is the monarchy are a powerful symbol in the British unconscious and things will not change for the better if they go. Don't like Camilla - my son has worked close to her and says there's little 'noblesse oblige' (but then he isn't a rabbit)! I do not think she has the deportment to make an inspiring queen and figurehead. Diana did, but they were unsuited of course. I think the crown(s) should have passed straight to Wills and Kate. If you don't like it Koalama, feast your eyes on the wardrobe malfunctions and have a glass of bubbly!

Bijou Tue 02-May-23 15:24:24

I am not a royalist. The Queen Mother was the first British person to enter the royal family since George III. Prince Philip was Greek/ German I believe.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 02-May-23 15:26:34

Are you serious? Can you really compare Camilla’s deportment, mid 70s, with that of Diana? Is yours that of a young woman?

I just don’t think it is History with an H. A new monarch is not going to impact people’s lives the way they did 150 years ago. It’s bread and circuses except we can’t even afford bread.
