As some will know from previous posts I have a problem hip replacement. It is nearly 9 years since it was done, and it was a problem from the start. I woke up with a new pain in my groin that had not been there before and it has continued to get worse ever since. I am now in the situation where I cannot lie on the bed and lift my leg straight or bend my knee. This is both because of pain and muscle weakness. I am in a lot of pain getting in and out of the car. I have to lift my leg in and out.
I walk with a stick, and the pain is not too bad then - I am not trying to lift my leg all that much when walking, so it is tolerable - the stick is because the weakness impairs my balance and I have breakages in my other foot.
Saw consultant again on Monday - once again the x-rays look fine. .... which is good. But I am still left with no explanation for the pain. They have ruled out a tendon problem.
My instinct, as a lay person, is that a nerve is being tweaked. That is certainly how it feels. Consultant is going to talk to a specialist in hip revision surgery - but I really really do not want this if it can be avoided.
I feel I am at an impasse.
