I’ve very recently had some eyelid irritation and redness
Had dry eye condition for a long time
Lots of different opinions on this between GP optician etc
In the meantime it’s very sore and a bit unsightly
Could be seasonal allergy or one of the above
Found eyebag use etc made it worse
Anyone had similar and found a solution
I’m finding warm water compress and wash and good eye drops seem to help rather than throwing lots of things at it at the same time and making soreness worse
Grateful any suggestions particularly for the dry flaky skin I have now around my eyes

I have found Hydrosil Dry Eye Gel- online from SkinShop -very soothing and helps my eyelid eczema .

I had 3 bouts in all, was told allergy , blepharitis etc. Had 2 lots of steroid cream but third time was told I couldn't have them again, eventually cleared it up by bathing eyelids with cooled boiled water night and morning, followed by Bioderma eye cream ( a french pharmacy brand available on-line in the UK), this was the only one I found that didn't irritate. 10 years later I still follow the same routine and have had no further trouble.

Hi I have recently had what sounds like a similar thing in that my eyelids (one more than the other) were red and itchy. I tried the hydrocortisone cream but realised it’s not good to continually use it so having tried all sorts of other creams I have found Ultrabee Exeskin to be very good . I ordered it online and can recommend it. Hope your problem eases very soon.

I was diagnosed with blepharitis & dry eyes many years ago and was prescribed by the eye specialist at the hospital eye drops [which you can't buy over the counter] , he said I would have to use them for the rest of my life. Also I massage my eyelids for 30 seconds every morning & evening. This does all help.

I use Oust demodex wipes. Not that I have demodex but they contain tea tree oil and leave your eyelids feeling very clean.

I suffered with blepharitis and dry eye for quite a long time. The optician gave me eye wipes; the doctor gave me drops for blepharitis and more drops for dry eye. Nothing worked at all.

After some research, I discovered that blepharitis can cause dry eye, or in other words, the two were related so I didn't need anything specific for dry eye - I needed to clear the blepharitis. I also discovered that if my fringe is long enough to touch my eye or eye lashes, it makes matters worse so I cut my fringe so it's clear of my eyes all the time now, which definitely helps.

I finally found a product which worked for me and I haven't had blepharitis for months now and that product is Noveha eyelid and last cleanser containing Hypochlorous Acid which I apply with clean cotton wool. The small bottle I bought to try worked, so I bought a larger bottle and haven't looked back. I no longer have Blepharitis or dry eye. The two disappeared together so it worked for me; hopefully it may work for you.

I'm suffering with pollen eyes.
I jse carillon cream around the area. It sooths but as it is a barrier cream it doesn't sink in like a moisturiser does so lasts for longer before I need a top up.

I can’t believe how many people have suffered with blepharitis, no one had heard of it when I had it for about two years and it really got me down, trying so many creams, drops etc. It finally cleared up when I swapped my perfumed (Tropic) make up remover for the unperfumed version. I realise it’s not that simple for everyone but sympathise with how miserable it makes you feel.

Saw a hospital eye doc for blepharitis who told me to wash inner lids with cotton bud and baby shampoo. Just inflamed my eyes. Gave up.
Then re something else, was washing face with Dermol lotion and warm water. Blepharitis has gone! Dermol bought over counter at chemists. Used for eczema. Hope that helps.

My doctor (who I worked for) told me I had blepharitis years ago and said I had to stop wearing make up. At that time I wouldn’t leave the house without make up so I was mortified. Did what he told me for months. Turned out I just had computer eye. They gave me a more up to date computer and my eyes were ok.

I got referred to the eye clinic at hospital and have had a few treatments to try to sort out my dry eye condition including being prescribed drops by the consultant.
I am now being treated for double vision and cataracts.

Thanks again for all the great suggestions
I’ve found most things I put on my eyelids make them more red
Doctor suggested Aveeno baby cream with oat which I’m just trying out
The Blepha products seem to make my eyelids sore
Hoping to get a referral still not sure if an allergy may be involved
Sounds quite a common problem with trial and error needed to find the best individual solution
Strange it suddenly happened although I had had some painful splits on the eyelids during the winter months maybe that was when things were starting to change

I had dreadful Blepharitis, wanted to pull my eyes out! It has many years later turned out to be a nasty little disease called Sjogrens Syndrome. The only way I could get rid of it was to 'scrub' my eyelids!

Take a cotton bud, and dip it into warm water (I used cooled boiled water) with a drop of baby shampoo. Then using one end for each eye, scrub along the 'ledge' of each eyelid, top and bottom. Worked for me in 2010, and has never come back despite the disease! Would most definitely go back to that if needed ....

Good luck!

I had dry eyes. Solved after a few months use of starflower oil capsules. And optician recommended using blephasol lotion every morning.

I've had two bouts of blepharitis and as well as eye drops I have found an eye mask that can be warmed in the microwave a great help.My optician explained that gently warming the eyelids helps to unclog the myobian glands and keep the secretions fluid. And also advised not having the heater in the car directing warm air upwards as that dries the eyes rapidly.

I too have dry eyes and eye drops with preservatives in cause irritation on the skin beneath my eyes. I now use eye drops with no preservative, Hylo Forte, which ironically last for six months and cause no skin irritation. The other drops only lasted a month. The new drops were recommended when I mentioned it to the Glaucoma Clinic.

An optician diagnosed dry eye and face me drops. I also had crusty eyelids but the dry eye was very debilitating, nothing relieved it. For a completely different reason my GP ran a series of blood tests and found l was Vitamin D deficient. After a few months of supplements to raise my vit D level my dry eye and crusty eyelids completely cleared up. I know this won't be the case for many but it's worth bearing in mind.
